    Thought I would check my bconnected account since I havent in a few months since we havent been to Vegas since Jan. of 2020, and we arent going back until things get back to normal there ie: no masks, etc. I realize that still might be awhile but so be it. I guess I lost the points because of their 6 month rule, which is obviously still in affect, brilliant move on Boyds part (sarcasm). I still have my Saphire tier with their generous holdover of 500 points. We are getting close to our breaking point with Boyds, bummer since we really have liked the Orleans in the past......more of an FYI than anything

    By popular demand.
    Based on player feedback. You know the routine.

    If you care about tiers at places with tiered loyalty programs, now (and the past 1.5 years, even back to the before-time) is the right time to look closely at what your tier actually gets you. Also a good time to evaluate the true value of points (which is a great overall topic for another series of long threads).

    I say the above knowing that sentiment is more about overall principle than it is about dollars-and-cents (or maybe dollars-and-sense?) value.

    Its BOYD, not surprised. They have really cut back, especially their mailers.
    For example, I put $58,736 coin-in (5 days) during January. The mailer for March was $5 free play twice a week.
    Time to re-evaluate.

    I wouldn't pass full judgment until you see your May/June 2021 mailer.

    Boyd is dead to me. My favorite property (MSS) is still closed. Given that I did not have an opportunity to visit during 2020 due to the pandemic, they should have at least rolled current card level forward for a year. Having to start over at Ruby and not getting any B-conned points until you hit Sapphire is bogus. My tier level and points balance are both now at 0. Screw-em.

    I'm not a big gambler but as long as boyd continues to allow me to stay Sapphire without much play and gives me 4 comped nights (with no resort fees) I am happy with them. For 2021 they carried over almost 400 tier points so I only need to earn 350 points to remain sapphire in 2022. Actually in 2019 I didn't have the 750 points to earn sapphire but they gave me extra points to get me to sapphire level and carried over some of that so I had the 750 points to remain sapphire in 2020.

    But because of the loss of points rule after 6 months or 1 year (I thought it was 1 year prior to 2020) I always cash out on my points before I leave.

    Prior to 4 or so years ago I was always Ruby level for my low play (mostly play craps) so I am happy that they made me sapphire so I get comped nights. That will keep me coming back to Boyd, when I go back to Ruby I will stay somewhere else.

    With all due respect, the reduction is not an 'outlier" month. It is indicative of Boyd systematically reducing comps/mailers.

    Coin-in:
    Sept 20 = $79.4K
    Oct 20 = $37.7
    Nov 20 = $49.2
    Dec 20 = $73.2
    Jan 21 = $58.7
    Feb 21 = $63.6

    Free play:
    Sept = $15 twice each week
    Oct = $20
    Nov = $20
    Dec = $15
    Jan = $10
    Feb = $10
    Mar = $5

    There is no correlation between coin-in and free play. As I said...its time to re-evaluate.

    This is an interesting article.

    Boyd Gaming: ‘Younger’ customers have been crucial during pandemic - VEGAS INC (lasvegassun.com)

    “It’s the younger demographic and the higher-worth segment. Our more senior population hasn’t shown up yet, which is a great benefit for the future.”

    He is right about this, I'm a senior who can't wait to get back to Las Vegas. Notice, I said Las Vegas, not Boyd. Maybe some of those seniors already back, but they just went somewhere else.

    Some of that optimism comes from the belief that, as COVID-19 vaccines continue to be administered, more seniors will want to get out of their homes.

    I was downgraded to Ruby this year too, since I couldn't visit a Boyd casino last year. They did extend the expiration date of points I think until June, but only for those with X amount of points in their account. I forgot what that minimum points level was, but I still have all my points. Even at Ruby, my current offers are for 3 comped night, but with significantly lower amounts of freeplay/food credit.
