I'm pretty much a Cosmonaut these days. I like the V/P resort better, but the VP pay tables and Chandelier Bar have won me over. Oh, and the spicy beef tenderloin at Zuma.

Looking forward to reading the TR.

Selfishly, I'm really keen to read your take on the prime rib at Ellis, especially comparing it to Jerry's and others. The steak special at Ellis has (sadly) gone downhill ... but I continue to read good reviews on the prime rib. Curious to see if your discerning palate has a similar opinion.

    Best of luck!!!

And although Ellis' prime rib may not be big as Jerry's ... I'm sure @DaiLun that you're up to the task.

Well, got here with surprisingly little drama. The SWA 737-800 was full, I mean that there was a butt in every seat, and only 15 passengers going on to Dallas.

So, I thought that the rental car area would be swamped, and there would be a horribly long wait. The line at the Budget counter (no open separately from the Avis counter) had about an hour and a half line, so I figured that Fastbreak might be also swamped. Surprise, there was no one at the Fastbreak counter, and there were cars.
So, issue number one resolved. I texted @eliza and told her I got the car and 7PM would be OK.

Got to the Venetian and checked in. It was hell getting a parking space, but somehow, I managed and they put in on the 18th floor.

I got in my car and headed up to Nabe. Friday night, with reservations no longer in effect? You guessed it, a very long waiting list. I put my name on the waiting list, but called Elma at Andiamo's to see if I could get something down there as a backup. She put me in for 9PM, and when @eliza got there, she decided to gracefully decline since she had an early flight in the morning. I understood completely where she was coming from and we parted ways.

I left my name on the waiting list at Nabe, just to see how long the wait actually was, and they called me at 8:15PM.

So, I drove back down Spring Mountain Rd. and found an AYCE Sushi place that I hadn't eaten at before. It was called Kaze. Here Is the menu

I was seated at the sushi bar even though I didn't have a reservation and I was only one person.

    upload_2021-2-19_21-10-3.png
Oops, I only got one side of the menu, the othEr side was nigiri and appetizers, standard fare. I ordered Green Tea to drink and for my first order, I had Yellowtail, Salmon, and Salmon Eggs, and Miso Soup.
    upload_2021-2-19_21-11-44.png
    upload_2021-2-19_21-12-2.png
The sushi was fresh, but slightly warm than what I had been used to. Still good since I hadn't eaten in 7 hours.
For the second round, I had a Yellowtail Hand roll
    upload_2021-2-19_21-13-15.png
Salmon Eggs and the "Arizona Roll"
Inside was spicy Yellowtail and cucumber, outside was yellowtail
    upload_2021-2-19_21-14-28.png
    upload_2021-2-19_21-18-50.png

The bill came to just over $30.00, which I consider a bargain because I didn't have reservations.

After round 2 or 3, I was sated. I went over to Harrahs to get my Year of the Ox TR cards, and didn't play a cent. Went over to the Arco station and picked up some sodas and chips for the room.

I like Venetian, but the property has it's drawbacks (for me). Namely, too much walking. It's 9:15 PM and I've walked enough that I'm ready to hit the sack and start playing tomorrow.

Late registration is over at Palazzo at 8AM.

I'm gonna hit the sack. One days bankroll saved.

A quick note, LV is pretty lively this weekend. Not comparable to a normal (pre-COVID) weekend, but as lively as I've seen it. Chinatown was a madhouse.

There are people that will bristle at my mention of this, but IF THERE'S SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WANT TO EAT, MAKE A RESERVATION!!!

Well, another trip where I start way down, and hope for a comeback.

The day's bankroll that I saved from yesterday didn't last long.

Tournament check-in was at 8AM at the tournament area at Palazzo
    upload_2021-2-20_13-20-51.png
There are about 51 machines in the tournament area.
They are using the SpinFerno machines
    upload_2021-2-20_13-22-9.png
The machines are standard three reel machines with a touch screen.

Rounds are 3 minutes long, 2 rounds in this tournament. You are assigned a machine at tournament registration. The machine number is in the upper right hand corner of the top screen
    upload_2021-2-20_13-24-34.png

At your squad's starting time, a 10 second countdown starts, and you press the button to spin the reels. There Is a touch panel below the reel screen. When icons light up in that screen, you press them for more points.

I had 853,710 points in my first round, which sounds like a lot until you know that I was in the middle of the squad.

The first squad was mercifully over, and BFF arrived, and we waited for @44inarow to arrive for lunch. He arrived and we sat down for lunch.
I saw that there was jellyfish on the menu, and based on a discussion that we were having in another thread of the forum, I decided to order it.
    upload_2021-2-20_13-30-35.png
The jellyfish was as I had said before, a "texture" dish. Chewy and crunchy, with a mild pickling flavor.
    BFF had beef chow fun
    upload_2021-2-20_13-31-34.png
@44inarow had PDSYJ. (Pei Don Sau Yook Jook) Rice porridge with pork and salted egg. he ordered Yau Jau Gwai, but didn't realize that it was for his jook
    upload_2021-2-20_13-33-9.png
    upload_2021-2-20_13-34-42.png
I had Ma Po Tofu (with minced beef) and steamed rice.
    upload_2021-2-20_13-35-27.png
The food was excellent all around, and I hope that we can do it again. @44inarow is a great guy and we talked about a wide variety of things.
    Lunch over, we split up.
I did make my primary goal of Premier Elite (10,000 TC), I did spend some to make it, but I believe that I am "done" with Playing at Venetian/Palazzo this trip. I should be able to get lunch backend comped (yeah, that's how much I lost.)

    upload_2021-2-20_13-19-15.png
The afternoon schedule is once I finish my second squad, it will be downtown to run some errands, namely pick up match play chips at the D, and the Beef Jerky store.

Hope I do better in the second round of the tournament!!

Good luck, and great seeing you!

The congee was phenomenal, I haven't really had any good versions since back when I lived in Beijing. And candidly, looking back at the menu, I think I thought I was ordering jar choy. But one of the great things about Chinese cuisine is just sort of rolling with whatever they bring you.

Well, I am the epitome of mediocrity, I started out like "gangbusters", but ended up like "we the people".

I'll check at 7PM just to record it for posterity.

Went downtown and got $150 in match play chips at the D. I decided that I am down so far, that I really didn't want to chase bad money with good, so I put them away. I now have $1230.
    upload_2021-2-20_17-37-44.png

Besides I have two days left at Cosmopolitan.

Made a small comeback <$300 downtown, played enough at the D that I don't feel back using my food comp on Monday at Saginaw's at Circa.

Then my phone had problems, but I figured that it shut itself off. I thought that it had run out of battery, so I spent $10 on a cable at Walgreens' downtown. I'm just not having any luck right now. Oh well, hopefully things will get better.

Here are the complete rules for the slot tournament

I feel you about the losing day but there is nothing like a FANTASTIC meal to experience that helps make everything all right. I hope you have a wonderful meal and I REALLY look forward to seeing pics of the pie. I LOVE bananas and am already planning to order that dessert when I dine there in about 2 months!

Love the pics of your chips but it makes me nervous that you might physically lose them. Are you going to play them before you leave or keep them for your next trip?
