Made it. A sight delay due to deicing at STL. Won $280 at the airport. Got my car, parked at the D, and then hoofed over to Circa where I met up with @jimboguy for the First Splash Swim party compliments of my host at the D. But first I lost $250 on a Buffalo Diamond machine. Womp womp.

Private area of the upper deck of stadium swim with cocktails and light bites. Stadium swim was awesome and it was fun watching first period of the VGK game. I had a great conversation with Jimbo until the weather turned. I’ve never seen anything like it. The wind picked up and there was debris everywhere, people lost hats and shoes and more. Some of the daybed cushions from the lower level actually made it up onto the upper deck. Security was quick to usher everyone out - I hope there were no injuries. All TVs in Circa were out due to the weather. Weird to see a giant blue wall at the Book. In line now to check into the D and figure out a plan for the afternoon. Originally I was going to do happy hour at Lupo but switched it to Pizza Rock. Now I’m not sure - it depends how the weather goes.

Okay, it's now twice in a row that upon arrival at the airport you've won!!!! That's another good omen for your trip like last time.

Great pics of Stadium Swim and that your host hooked you up.

Your photos also capture the bigness of the screens in a way that mine didn't. They really did an amazing job with Circa/Stadium Swim. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate but good to know on windy days that they may have to tighten things up. I know at Encore if it is too windy they remove all of the umbrellas. That seemed overkill to me but maybe not!

Best of Luck. If Lupo happens, I'll be very interested to hear how good it was, I can see me doing some serious damage in there one afternoon.

Following along! Hope you had a great time with Jimbo :)

Super excited to hear your thoughts on Laughlin. I'm not sure if they're currently offering it, but last I checked the Bumbleberry Flats restaurant at the Pioneer has beer taps at the table. It's been on my list for some time for that very reason, and thought I'd share it in case it's of interest (and of course, if COVID hasn't prompted their removal). Also on that list was "whiskey bacon jam" which was supposedly on their menu at some point.

A new to me room type at the D. An accessible king room - it’s nice and even has a refrigerator which I always like. The closet is a bit tiny, but otherwise it doesn’t feel too different than the normal king rooms.

We were in our corner room watching all the stadium swim carnage. first dark clouds, then some rain, suddenly, everything was flying, and everyone was jumping out of the pool and running for their lives. got a few good pictures.

When we left our room we met some kids on the floor that had just come up, one of them had great video of one of those giant white cushions flying right into his face. (he seemed ok, and thrilled he got it on video, I assume it was soft)

Sadly, I had given up my reservation and nothing available now. But one of these days. I’m going to check out Forte Tapas instead.

Late lunch / earlier dinner at Forte Tapas - an unassuming storefront on Rainbow. When I lived in DC I used to go out for Russian dumplings a couple times a month, but haven’t found anywhere to get them in St Louis so far. Forte Tapas has scratched the itch.

I started with a cocktail of their house infused vodka with fruit syrup and ginger beer. Good, but a little sweet for my taste. Then a type of Georgian meat dumpling and a beef stroganoff ragu served over mushroom pelmeni. The food was excellent - very hearty and filling. And very reasonably priced - my bill before tip was under $40. I’ll be back - I still need to try their vareniki.

I love the neat and less known places you try. The meal looked delicious.

Looks like a regular corner king with an accessible shower. I always get a corner king just for the frig. Enjoy and time for gambling wins.

Debated staying downtown, but Fremont was already busier than I prefer. (I’m officially too old for Fremont Street on the weekend). Stopped at Jerry’s Nugget where I slotted around. I was up and down and up and down, but ultimately turned my $10 FP into $5. And used some comps to get a peanut butter cake for late night snack.
