Sounds like an awful experience. I also get these offers out of of DCA and BWI a fair bit and while I was inclined to take one this March for my first junket, I’m definitely not anymore.

I am curious about their "Comfort Class" upgrade. Sun Country no longer has first class seating on their planes. The first six rows still have six seats per row, have a little more leg room(very little) and the seats are supposed to recline a little more that their regular seats. With the exception for the exit rows, the rest of the seats are all the same. Seat 15C would put you in an exit row seat which certainly is not worth an extra $49. I don't know what they are doing on their junket flights, but they are not serving alcohol, snacks or any beverages (even water) on their regular flights during the pandemic. I fly Sun Country out of Minneapolis frequently(four to six times a year) and have never had a canceled flight. They are not the airline of a couple of years ago service wise, but I have no major complaints with them.

They guarantee the middle seat is empty for CC, not sure beyond that.

Give it a shot. I've never had a bad experience with a Ceasars sponsored junket.

The comfort class had a bit more legroom and empty middle seat on our charter last week. Many of those seats were empty but they would not let anyone move up. The only service was a bottle of water and bag of pretzels.

Sun Country "Comfort Class" was a joke BEFORE Covid. Junkets out of Calgary are now on Allegiant. Sun Country makes Allegiant look top shelf! And for those who have flown Allegiant over the years, that is like saying your Top Shelf Beer is Miller High Life.

Hold on. Wasn't Sun Country a wine cooler when I was in high school? I'm pretty sure I puked up a 2-liter bottle of Sun Country Peach all over my comforter circa junior year, tried to wash it, and ended up breaking the washing machine.

I had a bad Sun Country experience on a Mlife junket to Beau Rivage back around 2016 or so. It was supposed to be a departure of around 6pm from my home airport in PA. The plane was supposed to be deadheaded from DCA to my airport to pick us up for the 6pm departure, but they were having mechanical problems leading to rolling delays. Eventually around 10pm they told us the DCA plane wasn't going to make it at all, and they were sending a different plane from Ohio or something. That plane arrived around midnight, and made one of the worst landings I've ever witnessed an airliner make; about halfway down an already-short runway and barely made the last turnoff. I had been sitting at the airport for 7 hours at that point and was getting pretty annoyed. I figured even if everything went right from there on out, I wouldn't be getting to the hotel and into my room until at least 3-3:30am local time. I am usually in bed by 11pm most nights, even on casino trips, so with that late of an arrival, the next day would pretty much be shot and my 10am tee time at Fallen Oak wasn't going to happen. I told the gate agent to cancel me out, which she did with no fuss, and she sent my checked luggage to the carousel so I could go home. My $40 junket fee was refunded a week later without me even asking.

I got the same Beau Rivage offer a few months later out of a different, larger airport and figured they can't possibly screw up that bad again. Sun Country again but had no problems on that trip coming or going. Plane was on time both ways and half full.

We've all flown with Republic.... they are an operator for American Eagle, United Express, and Delta!

If it's not an airport where Sun Country has regular operations, you will be dealing with the contract ground crew. These folks handle plenty of flights, but aren't very often the "customer facing" people in the terminal. And they have to deal with what the operator gives them, which is usually a FedEx manilla envelope with a list of names and boarding passes. It can be interesting.

But--pro tip, you can almost always take extra checked bags, as the contract crew doesn't have a system to charge you...and if they do...have zero interest in the paperwork of doing so!

I assume you can take a carry on and they don't charge usual bag fees on a SC charter?
I read the overheads are smallish, but not planning to take much for a weekend trip...

As passline said, the counter people don't care about your bags or their weight. There was plenty of room in the overhead bins on our last flight.

Yea we've done the trip to the Beau about 4 times and every SC plane seemed like it was a rattle trap on it's last legs:poke: MGM needs to partner with a better (and I get still low cost) airline....so like maybe SW.

Yeah, but they're a good a chance of a 737-400 which has smallish overhead compartments.

There wasn't any charge for either checked or carry on bags. I only checked a bag because I was bringing my golf clubs, which have to fly as checked baggage due to size. The checked bag was brought directly to my room at Beau Rivage by the staff about 30 minutes after I checked in so nobody had to wait at the baggage claim in the Gulfport airport. The SC plane was a 737-800 and my rolling bag with my clothes fit in the overhead with no problem. I remember it looked like most people were either traveling very light or checked their bags because the bins were wide open despite me being one of the last to board.

The CET junkets I have gone on all provide one free checked bag. Most people really like to take advantage of that. Hubby & I checked one big case this last trip & kept on e pair of undies & a t-shirt for each of us in my backpack. (Should have been no way for airline to lose it but I was more worried about it disappearing at hotel & not getting dropped in room). In fact one junket one of the SC agents was forcing you to check the bags. BFFs sons went to one agent with me - we were asked if we wanted to check. She & her husband went to another & were forced to check their bag so they had to open it up & unpack kindle & a few other items to have on plane.

As a note, I have had variation as to whether or not there was a processing fee. For the MSP trips that went out on Sun Country (limited seats on a standard SC flight) there was no cost. For the ones that are leaving from a regional on a dedicated junket plane I’ve had a $35 flat per person cost. Still less than a checked bag fee so I can’t complain.
