I think it may be open. Their was something going on at the end of Oct. The walkway was open and they were checking id's. The walkway is at the back of Harrahs at the monorail entrance. It is all enclosed now and looks beautiful. I do believe that the walkway is closed otherwise because of no monorail.

It's physically completed but I wouldn't call it "open", since there's nothing to really use it for. The original timeline was that they could be ready for the NFL Draft, but we know how that worked out...

That’s sounds like great answer. As there are no events right now there is no sense opening it now . But as long as it is completed they will use it if they run 2021 WSOP some time this year .
    Thx

I wouldn't necessarily count on that. I personally think sticking with Rio is more likely, at least for this year -- they have the experience running it, they have the surveillance and cage infrastructure in place, and it's on licensed casino premises. But who knows.

When Rio was sold in December 2019 , the Ceasars Convention Center wasn’t ready. In my opinion Ceasars wanted to play safe and made a deal with Dreamscape to run Rio for 2 years so running of WSOP transfer to their own properties smoothly without any problems. In return Dreamscape got right to players database while Ceasars run the Rio thus getting access to lucrative database who comes to play WSOP . Unfortunately 2020 was canceled and now Ceasars convention Center is ready , let’s see how much Ceasars is ready to share their players database.

Defcon, which was supposed to be at the Big New Convention Center (tm) in 2020, has tentatively announced that it will be at Bally's/Paris again in 2021.

That means, 1,Either Convention Center is not ready.
    2, Scheduling problems
3, Or event will be too small due to current situation of Covid for huge convention center

I interpreted it to be #1, as there's been almost complete radio silence from the CET folks regarding the current state of the Big New Convention Center (tm) for some time now.

Recently there is news from Nevada Gaming Board that new owners of RIO getting their gaming license. I don’t know how will it affects Ceasars Management of RIO as they are not as valuable to RIO in 2022 as they are now

It doesn't really impact things. The fact that there's new management at Caesars is the more important thing, as they may have a different strategy. But, without getting into boring details, generally speaking anyone making money directly off of a gaming Enterprise needs some form of licensing.

Also, my understanding of the Rio ownership is that they're primarily real estate developers. I don't think they have any long-term plans to actually operate the casino.
