I saw a TicTok video of a guy today with a bet ticket for $400,000.00 on the Buffalo Bills to win Sunday. Ouch I cant begin to fathom how much that hurt. With my luck I would fall on my back and break my dick.

Not sure what you mean by worst beat down. But my most memorable was the year the Heat beat the Spurs in the finals. I bought a futures ticket on the Spurs in February and got them at 7 to 1 odds to win the championship. Everyone remembers the Ray Allen three pointer to improbably win game 6. What I remember most was two usually reliable spurs players (Leonard and Ginobli) missing free throws in the final two minutes before that crazy shot and when the Spurs still had a chance to win game 7, Duncan missed a three foot shot in the final minute that he had probably hit a thousand other times in his career. Oh well. That would have been a nice 16k payday.

Back in college my now wife and I decided to take more than usual and have a fun trip at the Wynn. We lost 90% of our bankroll before our room was ready.

obviously not 400k but at the time that one stung. A lot.

I placed a $2 wager on a 6 team parlay bet. All long shots. My first 5 games hit.

Last game I had a tie. The game went into overtime. It was rare for a team to score in OT hockey. Sure enough. One player takes a penalty with 2 and a half minutes to go...other team scored.

    $250k down the drain.....

Not the most that I have lost but in 2005 I took a overnight bus trip to Coushatta with the wife on the same day Katrina hit the Louisiana coast. It was before I started playing predominantly VP. I was down $600 on slots within the first couple of hours and that was playing 3 reel quarter slots. No wins at all and craps was out of the question because all the dealers were more focused on the TVs showing the path of the hurricane. The only positive to the trip was the shrimp po boy served at a restaurant at the casino.

Way back when I thought I was beyond rookie status, I started a craps session with $100. The game was COLD.

After 4 or 5 hours, I was about $800 ahead. By then, my bets were $25-35.

Somewhere around the 6th hour, I started losing but kept with the higher bets. Not until I was near the starting point did I realize I should have walked.

Not having done that, I realized I should have decreased my bets.
I wanted MY money back so stuck with it.
After 8 hrs, I finally lost my original stake.

But the kicker here is that when I walked away from the table, there was a lady winning something huge on a slot machine off to the side. She must have had three suits standing around her.
The bells were going off non-stop and when it quit, one of the suits opened it up, did something, and the bells started up again.

There's probably several morals here. You can choose your own.

The next year, I thought I had learned all the craps rookie mistakes there was to learn.

Very early flight to Las Vegas, but there many delays. Finally get checked into the hotel in the late afternoon. But I was more tired than I thought I was.

But I was quite anxious to try my new attitude on the game... with a strategy!

Started with $500 and $25 bets. All gone within ~1.5 hrs.

I've considered myself a rookie from then on. Always a rookie now.

Martingaling $100/hand baccarat at Rio on my 3rd or 4th trip.

    -$100
    -$200
    -$400
    -$800
    -$1,600

Minus $3,100 in 5 straight hands, less than 5 minutes. It was my whole budgeted bankroll for the entire stay.

That is one hell of a lesson. My condolences.
Years ago at the now defunct Claridge casino in AC, while waiting for a friend to meet me at the blackjack tables...I took out a Benjamin and figured I'd play some $10 BJ. Lost 10 hands in a row. Lesson learned.

I'm a low-roller, so my story isn't about the dollar amount lost, but rather the principle.

Blackjack: I almost always play red chips, and usually flat bet the table minimum ($5, sometimes $10, rarely $15). However, one time, 3 or 4 years ago, I decided to bump up my play to green chips ($25). I buy in for $300 and ask for all greens.

Nothing notable happens in the game, until I am dealt a pair of 7s. I split. It's now a $50 hand, not $25.

I get dealt another 7 for my split. I split again. It's now a $75 hand.

Guess what? Dealt another 7. It's now a $100 hand. I split again.

At the table (downtown, Golden Gate) are a pair of Japanese tourists, talking in excited Japanese and pointing.

So, I split again. It's now a $125 hand, more than I have ever bet on a blackjack hand.

I forget exactly what happened at this point, but I know the dealer pulls a magical 21 in four (or maybe 5 cards), and all my hands lose. Yep, all 5 of them. $125 down the drain. Ouch!

...and this is why I will probably never play green chips (or higher) at blackjack again.

    ---

The only good that came of this event was a free room offer that arrived in the mail a couple weeks later. (Too bad I could have "bought" the room for less.)

Early 80's this bigshot bets $50 a game on 5 basketball games on a weeknight and LOSES every one....Then had to seriously scrape to pay 'Big Tony' from Staten Island in a Garden State Parkway rest area later in the week. Learned not to bet what you don't have or can afford to lose...

    Local Indian Casino.

Walked in with $600~. That quickly departed in 2 craps sessions and 5 minutes at a slot.

Hit for a check withdrawal for $2,000. Half quickly gone in another craps session, Point/Seven out, Point/Number/Number/Seven out.

Hit a Handpay on a $5 machine for $2K, OK, back up!!

Wandered back to craps. Lost 2K.

Hit ANOTHER handpay this time for $1,400.

Proceed to play a $100 slot because "Slots are treating me well", lose everything I brought, withdrew, and won in handpays.

    Drove home DISGUSTED.

Wife and I are definitely low rollers, NOWHERE near any of the stories here for sure. My biggest beatdown was on our first night while staying at Mirage on our last trip. Thank heavens I was smart enough to stay outta the safe that we had set aside or there is no doubt at all I'd have erased our 7 day trip BR in one night. We got in town about 2 or 3 and by 7 my wife was down for the count. Absolutely passed out. On our first night we normally carry more cash than normal for the day for check in, tips, and other misc. Well I overdid it on the whiskey sour and went on tilt at the slots at Mirage. In about 90 minutes I wiped out about 1000.00. Not much for some I know but I felt like I went 12 rounds with a heavyweight as sulked back to the room. Had ZERO left in bills. ZERO. Only pocket change. A few small bonus; sub 50.00 bonus. My last drink I tipped the CW who had been serving me all my pocket change and I felt like a complete d__k. She took pity on me and told me she knew I was on tilt and knew it was bad. Ran into her a few times throughout the week passing through the property and each time she winked at me and asked me how I was doing. My wife just laughed it off and made fun of me for the rest of the week and kept me on an 'allowance'. Truth be told I actually don't regret it as it was a great lesson.

An obscene amount of money—my daughter had to go to a state school rather than Stanford, LOL—on USC to win the 2006 college national championship game against Texas. I watched the game downtown at the Plaza. USC had won 34 straight games and they led 38-26 with 6:42 left (Lendale White forever my least favorite Trojan). Enter Vince Young and the worst half hour of my life.

Another beat I can think of is the super bowl last year. Has the niners and bet way more than I usually would. Figured why not at least I get to watch it at one of the parties.

well most of you know how that game turned out. My mom had something like 5k which is a lot for her as well. Neither of us were happy. I even ducked out early and watched at the bar by Raos at Caesars and got to see Jimmy G overthrow I forget which receiver right at the end of the game which would’ve put them back on top.

Just remember, gambling is always relative. Depending on how much dough the guy makes in a year and what he has in his bank account, that may only be a fraction of his annual gambling budget.
