Do you plan on going solo to Death Valley? Do you feel comfortable doing that?

This is exactly us now, we can only gamble and drink so much before we get bored (a little) so we've been mixing in great dining every time now and it's a game changer for us.

@drac999, I'm planning on going solo but I have invited three girlfriends who are not Vegas regulars to join me for any portion of the trip in which they may be interested. @dbueler will be there for part of the time but I don't think she wants to go to DV but will hang hard for a few days in Vegas. Not sure about my GFs who are the non-Vegas regulars (college and law school buds). One is "in" already but she may just be in for Vegas. But, I have booked a room at The Oasis that works for 1 to 4.

I feel comfortable driving solo but will be far more likely to do a tour to say the "race track" than to do that long drive there and back myself. So, the basic logistics are set in terms of hotels and as I get closer I'll determine whether I'll do the off road driving myself (I will if I have at least one person with me, and in which case I'll rent a jeep) or do some traveling in the park via a tour, such as in the non-paved areas if I head out to DV alone. I am good either way but yes, from a security and safety perspective I'll be more inclined to go on a tour once I arrive in the park if traveling solo.

@drac999 and others, if you ever want to consider tours at Death Valley, here are some options. They are not inexpensive, that's for sure, but I've got a bit of a cushion from my last trip. :)

If I do wind up going solo I'll do the racetrack tour one day and may do a custom tour another day.

I imagine I'm not the only one who is loving the fact this thread is finding new life as a very transparent trip planning venue for your next epic adventure. If you keep sharing, I'll keep reading!

Our house, LOL!! We have 3500 bottles and growing. We do nice dinners in Vegas, but never go for a straight wine and or tapas kind of place, not sure why we don't? But on planet earth it's Girl and the Goat in Chicago for ridiculous tapas and wines that you just don't see all that often. Great friends that we've made dining there. Headed to Vegas for Super Bowl so perhaps this streak will be broken....

The Tours sound fabulous, but I am more interested in the Milky Way and Red Moon! I love the night sky☺️.

I wish all the bridges on the strip had that height and window size. I can walk across those but not any of the others and have to cross the streets the dangerous way alot of times. I know, i know but i just cant cross those other bridges and am very careful when i cross the street.

Yes, the evenings -- seeing the Super Full Moon during DV trip #1 and the Micro New Moon during DV trip #2 (yes, I'm going there twice over the course of 18 days) -- are what I am most excited about but DV during the day is extraordinary from the pictures I've seen and so I'm also really looking to having a good chunk of time to explore.

And if once-in-generally-a-decade wildflowers wind up blooming in the desert that will make it that much more extraordinary of a trip. That, with some great meals, pool time, spa treatments and local adventures, means that it will definitely be a fantastic trip if solo, and if I have a couple of friends join me for part of it, even better. And if it winds up being a financially winning trip, then it will be another great one for the books. I don't want to be "greedy" karma wise but I'm definitely hopeful!

Ok so i'm done reading this one. Took me 3 tries as it was lengthy and very detailed as usual (not in a bad way). So wonderful you had a great time, made it back safely and had a negative test which is very impt. Thank you for all of the pictures and lasting memories for those of us that were not there. Such a nice experience to read and feel like your right there on the strip.
