Does anyone have experience at Harrahs Southern California? If so, any recommendations or things to look out for? I was given a really good offer there and I think I’m gonna take them up on it and go.

I would be able to help better with a specific question you may have.

Harrah's SoCal is my local CET property. To get to Harrah's SoCal I would hope you have transportation included since it is a bit difficult to get to without a car or have them pick you up. It would be super expensive to get uber or taxi to anywhere else significant outside of Harrah's SoCal so if you want to travel outside then a car is a must.
Much information may be found on their faqs page https://www.harrahssocal.com/faqs/
If you have any offers then make sure to swipe the kiosk by the rewards center to activate them.
Alcohol is not comp there but there is a mimosa happy hour that starts from the morning till noon.
Diamond members get free red bulls and non alcoholic drinks at the bars and from the cocktail waitresses.
There are no food options past midnight/1am besides maybe the 24hr starbucks.

Craps uses cards and dice to determined to winners/losers.

My experience is pre covid, but the pool area is nice and big.

What’s craps there like? Is it played the way Viejas plays it or is it played the way thunder valley has a card that says the roll?

Harrah's uses 2 set of 6 cards, labeled 1-6, one set is red the other is green. Cards are dealt face down on felt on number spots 1-6 prior to roll.. Shooter rolls 1 red die and 1 green die. The red die determines which red card to turn over and green die determines which green card to turn over.

For example if the red die is a 3 then the 3rd red card is turned over and if green die is 5 the 5th green card is turned over and what is on the face of those cards are is the result of roll. If the red card was 2 and green card was 2 then roll is hard 4.

All craps in California is determined by cards. It is part of the compact that the Indian tribes have with the state that states (paraphrasing)

For all table games, the outcome must be determined by cards.

Yes I know. But a lot of casinos do it differently. For example at Viejas they just gave A-6 and they just scramble them on the table and then the stickman puts them in a random order. At thunder valley you roll a green die and a red die. Whichever die comes up with a high number they take that section and a card comes up with the roll. At Agua caliente they have a shuffle master that determines the card placement, and anytime the dice go off the table, or a point is made, they redo it. At Barona casino they use a shuffle master.

im wondering how it’s done at harrahs SoCal?

I haven't been since covid, but as B T mentioned it is not easy to get too. there is nothing else near by.

The only table game I played was craps so can't say how other table games are but the player were friendly and everyone seemed to each other. Kind of like the TV show Cheers.

You should check there website to see whats open since covid rules differ by State and count and they are Tribal.

Sorry, but since, IMHO, it's not "really" craps. I haven't paid much attention.

The guys from the podcast "You Can Bet on That" are regulars at Harrahs SD, and probably discuss the procedure in depth somewhere in one of their podcasts.
They seem to manage to have a good time at it.

if all you played was craps, then you should be able to answer my question. How do they determine the order of the cards for A-6 at Harrahs SoCal? Is it a shuffle master? Do they just shuffle the cards?

Also they are most definitely open because I’ll be there Monday.

I only been to Harrah's SoCal 3 times, not a regular, as prefer playing in Nevada, mainly Vegas with real craps.

They have 2 shuffle master machine, one for each color of cards, 2 sets of card for each color, one set in auto shuffler at all times. They collect cards and put in shuffler and removed pre shuffled cards and deal out in order to designated spot on layout

They have 4 dealers on table at all times (5 dealers work on the table) regular stick, 2 base dealers and 1 dealer setting were boxman used to set, handling the cards. They rotate clock wise around the table, 20 minutes at each position. Go from Stick to base to cards to base to break.

All things consider the cards do not slow down the game too much, as the only real delay is between the dice landing and the cards being flipped over.

Haven't been to Thunder Valley but based on their website it's not the same, see below..

    "HOW TO PLAY
Thunder Valley Craps uses a Las Vegas-style table, but the layout includes two boxes—one red, one blue—that correspond with two symmetrical six-sided cubes each bearing one of those two colors. Each side of the cube has a number of dots on it. Stickperson locates a shooter who tosses the cubes on the table and takes that with the highest number of dots showing. Stickperson then turns over a card matching the number indicated on the higher cube, which reveals the winning roll."

it sound like they use the 36 card deck with picture of each combination of dice, one green and one red. I think Pala Casino on way to Harrah's uses this version. Were each deck of cards are auto shuffled and one of each color is dealt.

@Naturaleight , Please let us know how it goes, I have a semi-interest in checking it out some time (think I once watched a little bit at Morongo), but I'm pretty sure I won't like the card flipping part.
If the cards are shuffled randomly, it kind of negates the point of actually rolling dice (?)

I'm driving down the Pacific Coast Highway from Seattle to San Diego this summer. Maybe once PCH ends, I'll come inland and visit this property for the first time. I appreciate all the insights.

I play the don’t pass, so I personally don’t mind it because the odds are all the same to me.

I’ll let you know how it goes. My independent casino host is really good to me. He has set ups at all these places.
