Current gaming conditions during Covid? VP/BJ/Craps

Hi all - I am considering taking my brother in-law to Vegas over a weekend at the end of February to celebrate his 30th birthday. I am a Vegas vet but I don't think he's been to Vegas since turning 21 and I don't expect that he knows how play VP, BJ, or craps - which are my preferred games. Because of this, it would be best if I could sit close/right next to him while we're playing to direct actions and decisions. This would be mostly bar top VP (for better drink service) plus some BJ and craps mixed in. I understand that things change frequently but the current conditions will weigh heavily on whether or not to begin planning this.

Is it possible to snag two consecutive bar top VP units? Is plexiglass being used on the tables? In the event it helps, we'd be playing primarily at either Caesars or MLife resorts.

Secondarily, can anyone please confirm that you can lower your mask to take a drink/smoke and completely remove it while seated at a restaurant?

I was at Aria in December. Regarding VP at the bar: The Gem Bar had plexi between every machine. But you could stand behind him and wouldn't get yelled at from my observations/experience. Lift Bar had every other VP machine open. However, if there was an available empty seat - couples were moving them so they could sit together. There was also plexi dividers there too, but not as bad as Gem Bar. I think the sports bar had plexi between every machine too. I don't recall Alibi, since I didn't hang out there.

And yes, you can smoke and drink at Aria. Bartenders never said anything about wearing a mask, but floor managers/representatives sometimes would say something.

I was also in the Bellagio. The center bar area, not sure of the name. Plexi in between every VP machine. And you could smoke and drink there too without a mask. I didn't encounter anyone enforcing mask rules at the bar.

 

At CET properties there is no plexi between players at craps and BJ. Mlife does have plexi glass.

So I'd try to stay at a CET property, it would be easier to talk/sit by each other and play.

Also suggest for him to read or watch youtube video's of basic blackjack strategy and craps. Also try the online free ones to practice.

 

Thanks for the responses. I had forgotten about plexi at bar tops. I assume the plexi makes it pretty hard to talk through to the person next to you?

 

Not really a hassle in my opinion. Just what it is...

 

I recommend you get him some practice in those games before you go to vegas. Try some of the online games so he can get his foot wet before he starts playing with real money.

 

At CET craps tables, they are strictly enforcing the "no spectators" rule. So if you want to hang with or explain the game to someone at the craps table, they need to be playing. I see table limits at $25 most of the time so its expensive to learn as you go.
