My observation is that the argument's intensity is inversely proportional to the amount of money at stake. I've seen people calmly debate a $200 dispute and not get upset when the boxman says he'll have security review the tape, but the game will go on. OTOH, I've seen people come unglued over $10 AND THE WORLD MUST GRIND TO A HALT until they get their money. It blows my mind.

The OP’s gripe doesn’t rise to the level. After thirty years on the rail I’ve learned to be generally amused by the antics of the other players. A dumbass is a dumbass, an intentional dumbass is where I draw the line.

There’s a few that bothers me. It’s the person who plays nothing but the Field bet. And then they start screaming at the shooter to throw a 2 or 12.

As for arguing with a dealer, I got into one at the Venetian. The dealer was Arnold. He was awful. He kept paying players the wrong amounts and I kept correcting him. We aren’t talking about a white or red chip but green and black chips. Finally after the 4th correction, he started mouthing off to me saying “Did I pay them correctly!” Finally I griped at the pit boss and he said to ignore him as Craps wasn’t his normal game.

I’ve been playing Craps for numerous years that I try to chill out. It’s just not worth it. I’m on vacation and there to relax. Even though I’m trying to break the casino.

Thanks for all of the responses so far. I do tend to try to have an open mind when I’m playing and laugh at the crazy stuff other people do. But occasionally I do still get annoyed at things. Glad that some of you feel the same way. :D Usually a cocktail or two helps as well.

buying in short is annoying as it takes up time. It is quite funny to see someone walk to the ATM, withdraw $100, pay a $5 fee, lose, walk to the ATM..... 10x later wp for the $50 in fees sir.

Dealers not taking call bets for trivial amounts is a bit annoying, maybe its a necessary evil in Vegas and they ust can't do it. But let's say my hard ten comes down and the dealer doesn't remind me (I'm tipping you to remind me pal) and as the dice go out I notice. I'm clearly a regular craps player, I'm throwing in the correct change, I'm pressing bets in a predictable pattern. I have a rack full of red and green, I call for a $10 hard ten and the stick pulls the dice back..... not sure that's really necessary, but whatever.

If the box is going to tape, then there's no reason to blow a gasket. Just make good on the bet (as if you had been paid how you think you should) and carry on.

Anyone asking me to roll a 5 ( I assume they have ten shiny new dollars on it or something) while my point is 8.... doesn't bother me, at least it is some form of positive encouragement as I'll definitely have the 5 covered myself!

Watchers when you are trying to find a spot. One nod to the dealer and they realy should sort that out for you. Maybe the dude doing nothing is actually the son of a High Roller stood next to him.... in which case why start an argument that you aren't going to win? Just let the table staff know you;d like a spot.....

Hands in the tub.... they should have scimitars for those.

I know what you are saying but this is also a good opportunity to take minute and think about why it's bothering you.

I'm saying this as someone who is instinctively bothered by things like this as well. That gut reaction is a problem with me, not a problem with them. I'm working hard to be more laid back about it.

Yeah, it's goofy behavior, but so what? Take a breath, drink a beer, enjoy the human circus.

Meh, I normally wait until the point is off however if someone is on the ball and puts the money down at an appropriate time (immediately after the bets are paid but before the dice go to the shooter, a short window indeed) then it's really not a big deal. A good dealer can manage it seamlessly.

The only thing that bothers me at a craps table is when the box makes a bad call, something that should or could easily be called a no-roll (or vice versa) but he wipes out the table instead. It's only happened to me a couple of times.

I had a dealer at El Cortez call "No Roll" when the dice bounced off the table and hit another player on the chest but then reverse his decision when they landed back on the felt (lucky bounce) and came up "Seven Out".

The players protested but all of the pit critters just shrugged their shoulders.

That one probably takes the cake for me.

The most annoying thing about the rebuyers or, what I've seen recently, the chip hiders, (either all in their hand or pockets, so it looks like an empty rail),
is it wastes my time when I'm stalking a spot and think I'll get one soon.

Also have seen a lot of the field, and only hi/low bets. Craps is complicated, I try to help, but I also try to keep my mouth off other peoples money..

Would love to meet up with you dice setting nonbelievers some time and attempt to prove you wrong, which side will you bet?

    Anyone coming round Valentines?

The only thing that gets me about other players is when they are rude to their fellow players. Not to long ago I was it a table with some loud mouth jerk who kept loudly proclaiming that no one could make a point berating all the other shooters Needless to say he created the result he was trying to avoid. When I shot I made my point and said see it can be done. Of course I didn’t make my 2nd point. And of course he 7ed out. Also I kept thinking he was leaving but... he kept pulling out more cash to buy in with. I left shortly after I shot. He kept running people off the table. I hope he lost everything he brought with him
I’ve seen players blame others for interfering with their shot or putting their chips on their landing spot or even say he/she can’t shoot. Rudeness just bothers me

My greatest pet peeve is when a roller hits some long shot bet for another and blatantly asks for a toke. Sometimes the dealers shut that down, sometimes the "big" winner does toss a few chips, but usually it just kills the buzz on the table for me.

On a slight tangent, one time at The D a woman rolling hit an ATS bet for me when I was the only one of four on the table on it. I tossed a chip to all the players and she demanded that she should get all the tokes.

I agree with you. These people are not only rude, they are the ultimate definition of loser.

I'd like to share an incident that happened at MSS. I had one of those rare times when I was shooting hot. I was making my points plus shooting hardways, the one shot prop bet numbers, everything that would make a craps shooter's dream.

The guy next to me was raking it up. He bought in for a hundy but now his rack was all greens and blacks. When I finally sevened out, the table did their usual applause and even the box lady got up and kow-towed in fun.

The table got ice cold after and the guy next to me was so rude and berated every shooter, saying they can't shoot for shit. Of course the dumb ass was betting stupid and throwing all his profits away. Two gentlemen on my left said aloud to each other that they will play on the other table while staring the jerk down. When the dice came to him he PSO'd. He slammed his hand on the felt, picked up his chips and walked away.

Once in a while there will be people like this. It seems they are the ones with underfunded bankrolls and pipe dreams of riches. It always seems they walk away angry because they just lost their family's milk money.

I've actually asked about things like that-

from what I was told in most places the rule is:

no roll if it is deemed that the player (or dealer) hit by the dice had any "undue influence" on the dice

so in your example, if the player stood there motionless, and the dice just bounced off his chest, it should be a good roll-

of course, once the stick said no roll....

Well, you want to know what bugs me, especially when I'm on the "don'ts"?

It's when a new shooter (at the far end of the table from me) rolls a 6 on the come out roll, but the dealer on my end of the table puts the marker on the number 8. And I'm the only one at the table who notices.

At first I thought I must have misheard the stickman, so I did a double take at the marker on the other end of the table. Nope, the real point is 6. I start yelling "whoa, whoa, whoa, the marker is on the wrong number" at the dealer, but it's too late. The stickman already passed the dice back to the shooter, and he throws them again. And of course, he rolls an 8. So the dealer on my end of the table, rakes in my "don't bet", and starts paying off the pass line bettors. Now, I'm getting a lot louder, and waving my hands at the dealer, and she looks at me like I'm crazy. I tell her again that the point is 6, and tell her to look at the other end of the table. She finally sees her mistake, and then you could see the panic in her eyes. And guess what....the stickman, boxman, and other dealer STILL haven't seen what is going on at my end of the table. My dealer quickly moves the puck to the 6, puts my bet back up, and the game continues as if nothing has happened. :kill:

A few players got paid off on their $5 pass line bets when they shouldn't have, but I guess that didn't break the casino. :D

You ALWAYS have to be watching your money. That's why craps isn't the best social game to play with friends. You can't really take your attention off of the game. BJ is much more social interaction friendly. You can talk and discuss each other's hands as they're played one at a time.

I love setting my dice before shooting. I set it as a hard six in a pyramid pattern. I dont believe for a second that it affects the outcome, but its sure fun to pretend it does! As for gripes, I do get annoyed that the people who join a $25 table, change $60 and only play the field when they think its about to hit. Mainly because they are wasting everyone's time. Sometimes these players can be very loud demanding snake eyes or midnight from the shooters.

I have noticed craps dealers making more mistakes lately. Maybe they are getting lazy/complacent because they never have to watch more than 3 players? Last weekend it took almost an hour for the eye in the sky to confirm I won a repeater bet because the dealer in charge of that area miscounted. In the middle of the roll I pointed out that he didnt count 1 of the rolls, they just humored me and added to the repeater count. Of course this became an issue when the repeater hit, but they didnt pay it out hoping the number would hit again. The shooter immediately 7'ed out afterwards forcing the pit boss to check with the eye in the sky.

Whenever things go back to normal, I think theyre going to have a hard initial adjustment going back to 8 players per side.

    100% agree .
Even if you had a table at home to practice on , there is no standard length or bounce to casino tables.

    [QUOTE

I’d say the thing that bothers me most is arguing with the dealer. I’ve been paid wrong or not paid at all before. I ask nicely about it and usually they fix it. If my hard way comes down on accident I don’t stress about a dollar or someone grabbing the wrong field bet. You argue with the dealer you piss off the table.[/QUOTE]
This is annoying when the player is not paying attention and argues about payment when the dealer was right.
I usually watch the pays on my end of the table and 99.9% of the time the dealers are right.I patiently wait for resolution.sometimes not so patient.
If you play enough, you will encounter an error or a problem though.
    I’ve had a few.
Player next to me picking up my chips after dealer paid me on place bets.
Uh hold everything ,where did my $360 go ?
Another time at the Mirage the dealer just missed paying me.
If it was 1 dollar I would let it go,It was for payment on a $210 6.
I pointed out I did not get paid and dealer said he did.
Stood my ground and box man said to pay.
Video surveillance confirmed I was missed.
Moral of the story is I’m a lot more tolerant of players arguing with dealers now.
