A Gaggles and JR NYE w/side of Arizona LIVE! Dec 27-Jan 2

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for those of us who are able to combine Vegas, Christmas and New Years Eve. Please join me in another most excellent Gaggles adventure as the lovely JR and I depart for sunny Las Vegas. We are departing nice and early on the 27th and landing in Vegas around lunch time. We are grabbing a car. From there our plans are not exactly in stone. We had originally been booked at Planet Hollywood for a one night stay on the 26th in a pretty darn swell room and a generous free play until offer Westjet did the bait and switch that all airlines seem to be doing and bumping it to an am flight on the 27th. So that plan went out the window. I have some friends that will be on the same flight as us on the way to Vegas. They are staying at Paris.

Currently, what we are doing in Vegas for the day is up in the air. We are planning to head to Phoenix and Tucson for a few days and back to Vegas for Dec 30 for three nights.


We are checking into Bally’s on the 30th after we drop off the car. We will not be needing a car. Nor will I be in any shape to be driving a car. In fact, for most of the time I should be in the presence of an adult just crossing the street.


As most of you know, all NYE parties are cancelled as are the fireworks. I do not know what the night will be like but we shall make the most of it. All I know is it will be much more fun than Alberta as everything is shut down here. We have a couple dinners planned but beyond that, not real sure what things will look like.


We are meeting up with some of JR’s friends, whom we have not seen since the wedding, when we arrive in Tucson. Tucson and Phoenix plans are still fluid. I am double booked at a random hotel on the 28th and Harrah’s Ak Chin. I have since discovered that Ak Chin does not comp drinks!!! That very well may be a deal breaker and we may just skip that place. I know it is hard to believe but I am the one pushing to skip Harrah’s more than JR. Anyone want to offer an opinion on Ak Chin?


On NYE we will have some very special guests arrive. Big Sack and his son arrive and his son turns 21 on Jan 1st. In fact, he was the NYE baby at the hospital he was born in so that’s just got to be lucky right??? So...his son can’t sit in the casino and drink or gamble until midnight. I have advised Big Sack I may not be able to see out of both eyes by midnight on New Years. He is not a Vegas virgin as he has been there before but he will be a Vegas gambling virgin. So this should be fun.


At some point we are also going to get to Circa and hopefully meet up with some other Vegas junkies along the way there or other Vegas hang outs. It already feels like we are not going to have enough time to fit everything in but dammit….I am going to die of alcohol poisoning trying!


As always, for those of you who cannot be there, I will do my very best to put you in the game. For those of you that have to go to work, I promise to try and still be up gambling when your alarm goes off to start your day.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Santa treated you well. It is time to start packing and simply rolling out the suitcase has caused suspicious sideways glances from the cats.

Look what I found from my last trip! Forgot I had these. We will wear our fancy Mirage masks on the plane for luck. And are those metal things bottle openers? If they are, I did t need to use my sink counter to open my Modello’s last trip. Whoops..

 

Lol...i also thought the metal things were bottle openers and had to ask my host. They are for people to use to push elevator buttons, slot machine buttons or other things they are concerned about touching during Covid times.

And in the category of “Hopefully we will see more of this”....I sparked this little guy at my local a couple weeks ago.

I was tilting a little bit after getting dealt AAAA3 on BPD. That was very discouraging because I had been playing TDBP earlier. Had I been on TDB on .25 I most certainly would not have been on $1. Net win, $3700.

 

Do they double as bottle openers??? Perhaps a need to do a field test right now? This Lions game is so bad I might need a beer to keep watching.

I think we all know that exact post is as inevitable as the game of "Good Touches and Bad Touches" that took place every time Macker's estranged Uncle used to babysit.

 

And they are fantastic. I use one I got from Caesars a lot. And it has a black spongy thing on the end that lets you sign credit card pads, etc. with it.

I am currently in my 10th hour - yes my 10th hour - sitting at the Buffalo airport waiting for my flight to take off. We are in the middle of a snow storm. Some flights have been cancelled and ours is still a go for whenever the runways open so I am happy. 8 ounces of wine helps.

10 hours in an airport? Booooo-Urns to that! At this rate we might leave Calgary tomorrow morning and beat you to Vegas.

 

I was thinking that but I am really hoping my storm clears, which it is supposed to do. If it does within 2 1/2 hours I will make my connection. If it doesn't I won't.

 

This whole packing thing is going slowly. All of them were in different places in the house but within 5 minutes they all arrived.

Ps When have you needed to see out of both your eyes in the past to Celebrate a 21st Bday? You are a pro: one eye or a walking stick will get you to the nearest bar and you know what to do then.

 

Hilarious!!!!! They have an 9th sense! They are ganging up on you to convince you not to leave!
