A Different, But Hopefully Special, Thanksgiving Celebration -- Wynncore

This meal was spectacular, clearly. Lol. Seriously though, it didn't taste like "airplane" food but rather a meal I might have enjoyed in Wynncore.

 

I laughed out loud as the photo I took shows not one scrap left on my plates. Photo isn't loading, however, but just picture clean plates.

 

Another great Flowers trip...you’re going to need a vacation....from this one!!!

Took a nice nap, falling asleep to a mega Cyber Monday show on QVC and just woke up to it. ❤❤❤

I finished my Christmas shopping a week ago -- all bill to/ship to -- and with a heavy dose of QVC. It's amazing that one can watch QVC while flying as this was just recently the case.

Some additional observations, including a compare and contrast of the Parlor Suites. Let me first say that comparing the two is like comparing two beautiful flowers, as exemplified in part by the fact that when my host asked me which I preferred, I didn't have a clear answer.

I prefer the Encore hotel for various reasons, including the slightly more modern design of the rooms and, even more so, the fact that the Encore Spa is a one minute elevator ride away and it is my favorite spa, anywhere.

I also like the intimacy of the Encore casino and the Encore Tower Suites area and the fact that I know every person there and they know me. And I love the Encore pool and the lightness of the casino.

But I prefer the design of the Wynn Parlor Suite. It feels more spacious but that is because part of the space in the Encore Parlor suite is consumed by the massage room, which most people, even post Covid, are unlikely to use.

And the walk in closet in the Wynn Parlor suite, inside the large bathroom, with the dresser INSIDE the closet, is just SPECTACULAR. It is beautiful and extremely functional. It never would have occurred to me that how the suite is laid out would matter so much but it is very functional. If I were there with a significant other, I could disappear in the bathroom upon rising and come out completely bathed, dressed, and coiffed and the area is one large area closed off by doors if you so choose.

In the Encore Parlor Suite, there is no walk in closet or dresser close by. Indeed, there is just one dresser and it is by the window, across the room from the bathroom and a distance from the closet. If you see the room layout on the website you will see what I mean.

But, even with the preferred design in Wynn I am still torn. The views were different between the two suites but I was honestly surprised about how much I enjoyed both views, neither of which is a south strip view, which was always my preference, and I guess still is, but waking up to the sunrise facing East is glorious. My mother would love -- actually prefer I think -- that view because of the early morning view.

If I were treating someone to a room and they were new to Vegas I would probably pick a south strip view as it screams Vegas and IS STUNNING with the colors and lights of the strip resorts but I wouldn't mind sacrificing that view for a room type, e.g. a Parlor Suite, verses the wonderful but smaller Encore Panoramic resort rooms, which I do believe have the best south strip views of all of the Wynncore rooms.

But, as @Kachow has noted before, if I were staying at Wynncore over July 4th I would lean towards the Encore suite because of the view that would be had of the fireworks across the valley.

As an aside, the enhanced MINT service also includes hot beverage service in this elegant coffee cup, with a matted handle for ease of handing and ridges in the saucer to best hold the coffee cup, as well as extra room on the side to hold condiments. F'in BRILLIANT.



For Wynn, I do like the fact that Tableau is an elevator ride away and most of the restaurants are close by.

I think if I am solo, I would SLIGHTLY lean towards the Encore suite, primarily because of the spa location and because I prefer that pool.

I mentioned that to my host and that I feel a more intimate Encore area is better for my mom as well as I think every single floor attendant knows her by name and they kindly watch "her" machine when she has to scooter to the restroom, which, at 88, is often.

When I mentioned this to my host -- he was really curious to know the details of my thinking -- but that the layout of Wynn's Parlor Suite would be better for two people, especially two women!!!, he said he could provide the Salon suite for the trip with my mom!!! He noted it has LOTS of space. No kidding!!

Not an option for me during super busy times like NYE, but I was so pleasantly surprised when he offered this as I wasn't looking for him to do so but really appreciate it. He did so knowing my annual trip with my mom is typically about two weeks.

It was great to share this news with my mom by phone. She is already starting to "put things aside" for the trip, post vaccination for her and many others. I am hopeful for April or early May.

 

Well, it won't be two weeks but I will be back, assuming I keep the trip, in just under a month, arriving Christmas night!

 

See you then? I'll be at Encore Christmas weekend. I even have a traditional (for some) Christmas dinner reserved.

 

Regarding my hopefully annual Christmas through New Year's trip, my host had booked the Wynn Parlor Suite for the entire trip as it is still not clear whether Encore will be open that Monday to Thursday of the week between Christmas and New Years, both of which fall on a Friday. I didn't mind moving at all this trip because it was so wonderful to experience both Parlor Suite types but I really like to get settled into a room so I expect that I will stay in the Wynn Parlor Suite the entire time rather than in Encore for the first few days (Friday to Monday) and Wynn for the rest of the trip.

And I will just trek to the Encore spa when I have my treatments there though on one day, the day of my second massage, the treatment will be in the Wynn spa as the Encore spa is closed that day. And Encore will not be charging me the travel fee for the therapist this time.
