Stayed three nights this week so I thought I would relay a couple notes some of which might help to navigate in the period of the pause.

    1) Hit multiple Cosmo sites for Happy Hour. You do have to make a reservation. I used the notes section to indicate the reso was for HH. No issues when we showed up.
    2) If you showed and did not have a reservation, you had to take a pic of the QR code and make a reservations for, "15mns from now" and then return. No sense in trying to attach a "why" to that process. Also went to Cornerstone at the Gold Coast where we had a reso for dinner, but showed up for HH. We had to tell the hostess we wanted a HH reservation and then return after the magical 15mns.
    3) At least two to three tables at STK for HH were occupied by kids with their parents...in one case including a stroller. Why they allow kids in the HH bar is beyond me especially when tables are limited to four. It's just another drain on revenue not to mention having to put up with the sounds of various gaming devices. We may trying out the adult only Circa for Thanksgiving next year.
    4) For those of you who have stayed at Cosmo, you know about the multiple texts you get from Rose. Finally used that to request housekeeping service when we were leaving for part of the day. Got a response with a witty verification and, when we returned to the room...no HK. That didn't work out too well for us.
    5) Another irritant at the Cosmo is a) the TV seems to turn itself off randomly...a box pops up to say press OK to continue, but that doesn't work and b) the lighting is always a challenge with multiple switches controlling lights throughout the suite...trying to get the desk lamp only to work is an adventure in button-pushing.
    6) In case you were wondering, the ice skating rink is open.
    7) Had a few extra customer service issues on this trip. It appears some of the support areas have been cut back in terms of staffing, but the drink service continues to be excellent.
    8) Speaking of drinks, in going from casino to casino, it is funny (as in humorous), to note the variance in approach to Covid ranging from the simple...some casinos don't have napkins anymore, other do to the more intensive...some check temps, Cosmo is not alone in just letting you walk in. No one was counting as far as I could tell and one of the reasons is that the 25% rule applies to total square footage for the property...not just the casino floor. That is another rule that just beats the smaller casinos over the head again. You can get a lime in your drink at some casinos, other have a no fruit policy. Some dispense change when you cash a slot ticket, others give you a paper ticket for any change...no coins. All in all it is a different experience that impacts the employees and staff a lot more than the patrons which is too bad. A long, long way to get back to normal.

Unfortunately the staff cuts are all over. Agree there is a lot of variation in policies. I feel a number of decisions are driven by cost cutting with a covid excuse. No limes, cherries, little swords saves some $.

Could you be more specific about the customer service issues? I plan to be there in 2 weeks and forewarned is forearmed. Thanks.

Well sure, but they're certainly connected.

COVID is having a huge impact on revenues, which in turn has to have an impact on expenses.

I saw it open while we were there last week.

I also had housekeeping bring up a load of towels after we overflowed the tub a little like I mentioned in my TR. It took less than 15 minutes for a stack of fresh towels to be delivered and they offered to send someone to clean the bathroom but I declined because it wasnt needed. The one weird thing I did not appreciate was that not long after towels were delivered I had another knock on the door, and it was a guy there to check the mini bar and snack basket. I thought that was ... not good. We were only staying for 2 nights so why would they not just do this between guests instead of entering rooms with guests present? I did not use Rose for the towels, just pressed the housekeeping button on the phone and spoke with a person.

The no fruit drives me crazy! We did Council Bluffs earlier this summer and they had not fruit. Most bars I know don't touch it they use a cocktail "sticker" to put them in.

Not going to lie, your notes make me less inclined to go to the Cosmo LOL. Hope you otherwise had fun, though.

Secret Pizza was open when I was there too, but I can't guarantee that everyday. That is true for all of the food outlets so you have to check and make a reso.

My main customer service issue could have been unique as, when I booked, I had to book the comp night separate from others. When I checked in, they combined and I specifically asked if I had to return after the comp night to get new keys...the answer was no. We staggered up to the room the next night...a long trek as you know...and the keys don't work. Back down to the front desk to get new keys. The next night, the exact same thing happened, this time I know not any reason why. I complained the second time it happened and they took off the resort fee for two nights.

We had the DND on the door and HK left a card under the door to call a number and text "clean room" when we were ready. I did that, got a confirmation back from Rose, but the room didn't get clean. They did bring a bag of towels, etc when I called down.

The only other item was we asked a security guard where to exit for the Aria walkway and he didn't know...that is more picky I know. Put all this together and I would still say it is worth the trip especially now that rates are so low. I would say that there is no way I would pay premium prices for rooms since so many amenities are missing/inconsistent.

I stayed at Cosmo before Thanksgiving (I was there in the midst of them redoing all the carpets, so entire sections of the slot floor were down for a couple days).

@azbob -- you're right about the TV randomly turning off. I didn't think about it until you mentioned it. It was only on that trip, beforehand I could leave Netflix or YouTube on pause and it would stay that way all night. Maybe the ghost of Rose, saying you should be gambling and not watching TV.

I had a remote control missing. I called to make sure I wouldn't be responsile for it, and that I was okay to use the other remote control and that they could just replace it after my stay. But they sent up another one anyway.

The one change I noticed was the laundry bag. It was this big gray cloth drawstring sack with the Cosmo logo and a Mark Twain quote. I used it many a time when taking clothes to the laundromat. But now it's been replaced with the typical hotel laundry plastic bag. Not fun at all. Maybe too many people stole them and they were never replaced. (I may have a few at home,)

Yes, drink service was exceptional. Maybe because of less players, but they constantly came around the machines. And they still offer my favorite water (Fiji).

The PPP kit that Cosmo leaves in the room is great and all -- however, it includes a pen in the sealed package. And that pen tends to leak. I thought it was cool seeing a purple mask, but it was really the pen's spilled ink all over the mask.

Oh also -- I make a habit of getting the greek yogurt every morning at the Juice Standard. It's worth staying at the Boulevard Tower just to be in close proximity. Anyway, they always advertise it at $8, but whenever ringing it up it's $7. I feel like I get a bargain. It's been this way for over a year. This visit, it rang up $8.

And one more observation -- Cosmo didn't check temperatures at all, not even for hotel guests.

@azbob I think the reason he wasn't able to answer your question about the Aria walkway is that, officially, there isn't one.

    • There's a walkway to Crystals on the second floor near the strip. You can get to the Aria from there, but it's not technically the Aria.
    • There's also path to Vdara (see above) where you exit the main valet and walk down Harmon, cross the access road for the fire station, and take the stairs/elevator up to Vdara's valet area, but once you leave the valet area it's not really Cosmo property and I'm not surprised he was unaware of it. As I recall, some stretch of this path is technically off limits to pedestrians, even though it's frequently used for that exact purpose.

I got a Cosmopolitan at Cosmopolitan on Thanksgiving night when we went back over to slot, and it had a giant fruit slice floating in it, if anyone is wondering about Cosmo specifically. My raspberry lemon drops during our stay, which have occasionally had a garnish fruit slice in the past, had none that I recall. But they definitely werent under a total fruit ban as of Thanksgiving. Also, one of my raspberry lemon drops was delivered yellow in a martini glass for whatever reason- and the CW pointed out that she knew it was odd, but that what was made was a traditional lemon drop martini with a clear raspberry flavored vodka added. I actually liked it nuch more than the normal ones because it was stronger and not as overly sweet.
