Not sure where best to post this, but hopefully I’ve picked the right section. GAMBLERS,’ a new anthology series that documents the underground lives and careers of six professional gamblers. Episodes 1 and 2 of the narrative documentary come out next Wednesday (Nov. 18). https://twitter.com/ringer/status/1326528859085418497?s=21 Sounds like it could be interesting. And it’s from The Ringer, so it should be good quality audio etc also.
I'm definitely interested but I hope there's some "variety" to the gamblers. 9 out of 10 times these stories are "I was a card-counter and I traveled the country making millions but now I'm busted out of everywhere and don't do it anymore." I mean, I'm not saying those stories aren't interesting, but I also want to hear about people winning (and losing) millions at Roulette, Baccarat, or some other casino game that isn't Blackjack or sports betting. Those have been done to death. But I'll listen no matter what, because, like I said, even the Blackjack stories are usually entertaining.
It's amazing how many podcasts, even ones professionally produced, have horrible audio. I used to host a very small podcast just for fun, and the other guy did the audio. Ours sounded better than most others, and we were using Skype and GarageBand. It's not difficult.
Might be because the podcast doesn't actually premiere for another week. All they have released thus far is a one minute teaser for it
I agree.......but who is a " professional " Roulette Player ? Anybody could be ?............and not for long, right ?
I was able to subscribe to it with the podcast app that I use, Downcast. The episode with the Gina Fiore, Blackjack player, was good.
I mean, anybody could be a professional player at ANY game. I was a "professional" poker player for like a month one time. Only made about $150, but at the time it was my only "job" and only source of income... haha...
Yeah, I really enjoyed it. I was cringing when she was talking about saving money, though... "I just kept all my cash in a box." Ouch... Hope she's a little more financially literate now... haha
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I listened to the Gina Fiore (Blackjack) one & the Michael Sall (Gin Rummy) one on Apple Podcasts. The Gina Fiore episode was good.
Not listened to Michael Sall yet, but I really enjoyed the Scott Frost show. I thought I would only be interested in Vegas based episodes, but I think that’s the beauty of podcasts. If you can tell a good story well it’s enjoyable for the listener. On a side note, the host David Hill has a book called The Vapors, about a town in Arkansas. I’ve not read it, but it seems like it might be good. There’s an extract here - https://www.theringer.com/2020/6/29/21289292/the-vapors-david-hill-arkansas-casino
