Congrats! Love those one in a million-ish hits.

I did it last month, king of hearts too! But it was at Paris! Yay for the King!

I’m sitting here in my hotel room watching NFL football, reflecting on my recent trip. Yes, in my hotel room in Las Vegas watching football, not a Sportsbook, not a sports bar. I’m in my hotel room because, for the first time in 50 trips, I actually feel unsafe in my favorite city. [emoji17]

Sure, there were some highlights this trip; Hitting a Royal Flush at the Vue Bar, a great dinner at Hugo’s, drinks at Frankie’s Tiki Bar, and seeing the Circa Sportsbook in person. But, the lack of security, the very obvious number of homeless, pan handlers, and shady characters, plus the overwhelming smell of marijuana everywhere, along with the current Las Vegas visitor, makes Las Vegas for me, a place I will not be returning to anytime soon. I didn’t even include the attack and robbery in the 4 Queens elevator with the above observations, which by the way, no one from the hotel has yet reached out to me.

I had a trip planned for January 2021 that I have cancelled. Unless there is some serious changes by March, I will be cancelling my March Madness trip.

Las Vegas has to get better. Several Lyft drivers we talked to also expressed their concern over the current environment.

The comped rooms, free play, free meals, and cheap airfare has been enough to outweigh some of the minor annoyances until now.

I hate to be such a downer, and my buddy @Nervous Wreck, would tell you that I’m a total optimist, but this is the current Las Vegas reality, for me at least.

If you have a Las Vegas trip coming up soon, please be safe.

    Thank you for following along.

Did you feel the same level of discomfort after you moved to Bally's/

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. We were there in October, and given what I had read about - we didn't venture out after dark at all and spent a lot of time in our hotel room. Given that, I didn't actually observe a lot of shady things, but that was by design.
I could arguably say that it ruined our trip because I didn't feel safe doing much other than our vow renewal (both for the above reasons and for COVID) and others could say that *I* ruined the trip by not allowing myself to let go and have fun, but either way...
Again, I'm so sorry that this happened to you and sullied your trip and your favorite vacation spot. I get it, and it sucks. I also think QQQQ handled this very badly and by not addressing this or stepping up security, it feels like they are just hoping it will quietly go away and they won't have to deal with it. And that's just horrible. :(:(

Great question. The security presence is better at Bally’s and on the strip, but some of the same concerns are still there.

How about staying on the strip instead of downtown?

Maybe down the road when things get back to “normal”. For now I have no interest in coming back.

Sorry to hear about what happened to you at Four Queens. I love gambling at FQ, but I was there on November 12th and first saw a homeless person sleeping in the staircase. We were only in the staircase because the elevator was closed. When we were leaving we saw FQ security escorting an out of control guest from the property. They definitely need to get these types of incidents under control. You have to feel safe where you play.

Thanks for sharing Matty. This should alarm everyone going to stay on alert more than usual especially when they let their guard down after a few or many drinks. I will be more alert my next trip but will still try to have a good time. I been to Vegas for about 4 decent length trips post shutdown and have been fine but should know to not let my guard down just because nothing has happened to me.

Appreciate your report, and candor. I was just thinking about booking the GN for a few nights during my January trip, but as a solo, older female, will stay with Paris. I often make trips to the room to refresh my drink (like to know what I'm drinking), and the thought of dealing with crazies in the elevator would make me too nervous.

Can't blame you for feeling that way. Odds are it won't happen, but if it does, it's bound to leave a pretty sour taste. escalating violence along with covid means it'll a while before I make it back down. Really sorry to hear this happened.

    @Matty Ice

Would you be willing to provide a few details about the elevator incident? Did you notice anyone casing you? Had you just cashed out and if so was it with a cashier or at one of the automated kiosks? Things like that.

I've thought for a long time that those kiosks put people in peril. If they would dispense the money and go to the base screen it would be ok but most of them leave the total that was dispensed on display for far too long. I'm not careful enough with normal tickets but am super paranoid if I've hit a royal or something.

I'm so sorry that you went through something like that. I know that in the long term it's not even about the money although that is what a lot of people focus on.

@mwig, I’m happy to share the details of what happened. Hopefully it will prevent it from happening to anyone else.

I cashed out a $300 ticket at the Ticket Redemption machine near the Royal Players Club Booth at Four Queens. At that time I didn’t notice anyone watching me, but the Police Officers said as soon as I left the machine, the individual immediately followed me to the elevators. Throughout the next 2 days I noticed several, what I would call, shady characters sitting on a bench near the restrooms almost directly next to the ticket redemption machine. That machine is also an ATM, so I would encourage anyone cashing tickets or withdrawing cash there to be extremely cautious.

I also noticed that the total amount of cash dispensed stays on the display screen for several seconds after receiving your cash.

You are 100% correct, it had nothing to do with the money. It was that I was violated in my favorite city, and even more, that I am so disappointed with the lack of 4 queens concern and compassion.

I’d be happy to share any more details.

Dude...I feel your pain. I could inflict injury but not be exempt from robbery or assault. I don’t know why cashing out and immediately turning the Tito into cash is a big deal but I do it....until now.
Morning is just as good a time to be a winner!! You’ve convinced me (especially when residing in the hotel with the redemption machine)

@Matty Ice thanks for providing details of the Four Queens incident. I feel sorry for you. You said that you pointed out the thief in a line up, anything result from that including getting money back? Interesting that the thief was even detained for the line up.

Now that the police told you that "shady characters" are watching cash outs, near the rest rooms, presumably Four Queens now knows that too. Will that prompt Four Queens to check room keys at the elevator banks? I think probably not.

Sadly, the benches by that restroom have long been a source of problems. There is honestly no way that Four Queens didn't already know that they had a problem. I'm not sure what regulations they have to deal with but something needs to be done about only allowing actual customers to hang out there. The restroom probably has to be accessible but no one needs to sit on those benches for longer than a few minutes if at all. I'd probably just remove them.

I do think that they need to add a key check location. There is no reason the elevators at the North or South towers should be open to the public. There is plenty of access to the casino without random people passing through those spots. They could even add a couple of slot machines by adding a wall and only allowing access to the elevators from one side.

So very sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident in 4Q's. For that property to take no interest in what happened is unacceptable. I haven't hung around the 4Q's much in my trips, but this incident underlines the lack of concern for their guests. I don't care how old a property is, or how much it may cost to upgrade for safety of their guests, it is flat out unacceptable to do nothing. I will never set foot in 4Q's again.

Your unfortunate assault downtown really upset me and brings to light of how I took Vegas security for granted. I am so relieved to learn you are safe and was not hurt worse where it would have ruined and stopped your trip. Thank you for sharing with us Vegas lovers, you may have saved us from future similar incidents like yours. Now back to your super interesting TR, did bubba beat morikawa? For your sake I certainly hope you completed your parlay! Thanks Matty Ice!
