    My Trip Report

    Day 1 (Friday 10/15)

It has been over 9 months since I last visited Vegas. This trip, I had for offers for three different casino groups Caesars, Cosmo, and Mlife. So I booked all three rooms to include some of my family members. I stayed at Cosmo for the first time ever, while my family stayed at the now non-smoking Park MGM and Planet Hollywood. Family has not been traveling much since pandemic started and has been eager to get out of our city.

We started driving Thursday morning 10/15 at around 11:30am. Absolutely no traffic from Anaheim, CA to Vegas. We did it in about 3 hours and 50 minutes non-stop. Vegas was definitely more quiet on Thursday afternoon than I’m used to seeing. But it made traversing on Las Vegas boulevard a much easier.

At Cosmo, they had me in a terrace studio in the boulevard tower (balcony) with view of city center and crystal shopping and also over long the two pools. Checking in was a breeze. Room had a care bag that includes masks and other items to protect and enjoy while we are there. Most of the restaurants if not all and eateries are open in the Cosmo. Staff are really professional. After checking in, I walked over to PH to check my family in.

At PH, my family got a strip view and fountain view of bellagio in the ultra hip suite.

After checking in, I came down to PH casino for some slot action. Started out with $1,000. Put into one of my favorite slot machines, dragon link, and Hit two decent hits on $1 denominations, $5 per spin. I know, I’m a low roller. The hits were about $500-600 each. At the end of this session, I was up about $1100 before dinner time.

Then proceeded to get dinner at Gordon Ramsey’s Burger and bought food back to enjoy in the hotel room. The burgers and shakes were delicious, some of the better ones I had. Not cheap but not bad considering it’s Vegas, about $17-21 for just a burger.

Came back down and decided to try my luck again. Didn’t do too well this time. I had lost about $500 of my $1100 winning after 2 hours. So I decided to leave and go back to Cosmo for the night.

After getting to Cosmo, I couldn’t pass up the urge to press some more buttons on the slot machines. So I played a few machines including some new aristocrats machines and ended up losing the rest of my winnings from earlier after 3-4 hours. By this time, it’s already 1:30 am Friday. Losing $600 in 4 hours at $5 per bet is not too terrible. Could have been worse.

End of the night, I pretty much just hit even on gambling.

    Day 2: Friday 10/16

Woke up around 6:30 am and looking at a nice sunrise from the east as it gives heat to the Las Vegas strip. While everyone is still at sleep, I logged in and started to do some work for the day. I still couldn’t keep my mind off of the fact that I’m in Vegas!!! After a few hours, I decided to take a 30 minutes break for quick breakfast. I walked over to Aria patisserie to get some pasties for a breakfast/lunch snacks. I usually only eat either lunch or breakfast and not both. I really love this place and the one at Bellagio, even though they are no longer Jean Philippes patisserie.

I worked until 2pm and then headed over to Park mgm to check in for another family member who couldn’t come out to Vegas until Friday. This is now the only casino hotel on Vegas strip that is non smoking through the entire property (inside). I like the concept since I do not smoke myself and have always hated the smell of cigarettes and cigars after a day of gambling. The room offers came with some freeplay and resort credits. I have stayed at park mgm plenty of times before. Now that it is non smoking and just recently reopened, the place is very very “dead”. Many of the restaurants are still closed. And the T-Mobile area is still not open, so it is expected that the resort is pretty quiet. The Starbucks I usually go to in the hotel is still closed.

Anyway about that gambling part, after showing my family to the room, I went downstairs for some gambling while the kids enjoy the pools to themselves with almost no other guests there. Started out with playing blackjack. They only allow 3 people per table at a time and also have Plexiglass that separate the players and dealer. Started out with $500 and played from $25 - $75 per hand, I was down to $50 within the first 30 minutes and luck changed as a new dealer came in. I made most of that back. I kept staying and eventually lost as house was getting hotter with blackjack and 20s while I bust or at best 18, with some wins here and there. After 1 hour. I decided to hit the slot machines. Well, that also didn’t go too well. Played the new ultimate Fire Link along with other slots machines. After some ups and down, I lost another $500. So I am now down about $1k. At this point it is around 4:30m.

My family and I decided to go for a walk so we visited the Clark County Wetlands Park, near Green Valley, I think .

This is such a cool place to visit, get away from the strip and enjoy other parts of Las Vegas. We worked at one fo the the trailhead parking lot and walked around for about 3 hours. This place is huge! As we started with with the kids, we immediately saw a coyote and plenty of birds. We enjoy nature so this is a good place for that. People also come hear for birdwatching. Right now, they are having a Halloween maze for kids and it’s free for everyone to enjoy. There were some other people visiting the park as well. We got to see a beautiful sunset from inside the park. The sunset view from here is amazing. Definitely a must visit for those seeking things to do besides the strip and downtown.

On the way back to hotel, we order some tacos and carne asada fries from Taco El Gordo on Las Vegas boulevard. Yes I have been here before and their tacos are some of the best, especially the al pastor tacos.

After dinner, I came back to planet Hollywood for some more gambling. This time I have a try at paigow, which is usually my favorite table game. Started out with $200 and after about an hour, betting minimum and doing sucker bets, I ended leaving the table games to play some slots. Started out with dragon link again. Luck was not on my side. I ended up losing another $600-$700 until I had a decent hit followed by a few more minor hits and Cosmo casino before calling it a night at 1 am. Finally got me back almost to being even, making back most of what I already lost the last two days.

Couple things worth mentioning at Cosmo. I was aware of their security measures prior to arriving because of being on this forum. However, having experiencing it, I think they have made it an inconvenience to hotel guests. There’s no separate lines for just hotel guests to go through. If you come back to Cosmo after 10pm on the nights they implement security check, you will wait at least 30 minutes if not more. I saw many people who are not hotel guests or there to gamble, bringing outside drinks up to security after reading the signs they still get in line just to be told they can’t come in. There were also people who come up with lies NN the spot to get through security by saying they are hotel guest. However, I saw that security did not ask them for their room key or identity card. I guest it’s a price to pay for some sense of safety as they do force people to finish their outside drinks and check all their bags for weapons.

Secondly, I was not aware that the marquee pool night club has reopened. The room they put me in was on the 26th floor and the music went all night. I could hear people screaming and music banging, waking me up several times. Definitely do not get this side of the building if you like to sleep between 11pm and 4am on the weekends . On top of that I had planned on waking up early next day to pick up our boat at Lake Mead for our day of fun in the sun.

You can't bring a drink into cosmo? You don't mean like a 12 pack, you're saying one drink in hand and they turn you away?

There’s a new Wonka at Cosmo right by the entrance on the ground, strip side. We love to play and people watch and saw they were turning people away that had coffee cups in their hands, so it seemed they were taking the new security pretty seriously

Nope no outside drinks allowed between 6pm and 6am Friday and Saturday. I saw security forcing people to finish their drinks or throw in the trash. Also no unopened bottles from outside either between those hours.

    Day 3: 10/17
Sorry as I now have time to finish my trip update from October.

Woke up around 7am to gamble for a couple hours before heading out to Lake Mead. After that, we spent the entire morning from 10am til 6pm being a big pontoon boat experiencing what lake mead has to offer.
We got back to the hotel around 7pm after stopping by and order some check see food to bring back to hotel.
After that, nothing else but to gamble all night before checking out. I went over to planet Hollywood where some family members are staying to check out the room I got for them through CET. And also to gamble a bit to maintain my diamond status. Lady Luck was not on my side. Starting at $2k and came down to the last couple hundred bucks after 2-3 hours. Finally went back to my hotel at Cosmo. I decided to put into my favourite a lot machine dragon link and got a really nice hit. Overall, I made it back and only loss about $400-500 bucks.

    Day 4: 10/18:
Before checking out, I always go over to aria to purchase a ton of pastries at the patisserie. This is our tradition to get them and enjoy and remember Vegas until our next trip.
we left town at 8:30am and there was barely any traffic coming home.
