Awesome will make a point to visit and order one. Used to be a tradition every trip until DuPars closed

If I can stay on east coast time that's 6 to 8am for me. Just not sure if I can do shrimp cocktail for breakfast. Maybe I'll try once. Loved the 99 (mykeyboardhasnocentssign) at Dupars.

I made an unsuccessful bid to supply those shrimp. It would have been a source of pride to have been able to provide the shrimp for an iconic cocktail.

Our first trip to Vegas in 1999 we lived off the shrimp cocktail from Golden Gate. Don’t think I would pay $11 bucks for one.

I'm no marketing expert, but this doesn't sound like a good promotion. Think too many people will look at it as a "scam".
"Hey, we have $.99 shrimp cocktails." then in the fine print only between 3am and 5am.

No way would I pay $11 full price for it. Doesn't the Freemont at their oriental fast food place have a shrimp cocktail for about $2 or $3?

Lenai express, yes they occasionally do have that shrimp cocktail. It was closed last week however, don't know if thats a permanent thing.

No different than happy hour beers. Because I didn’t order the drink between a certain time I pay full price.

True, but not many happy hours are between 3 and 5 AM.

That would be awesome if they were. That would separate the professionals from the wannabes.

Great strategy! Offer something at a time when hardly anyone will order it, much less know about it, but enable yourself to act as if you're doing people a favor by bringing back some Vegas nostalgia.

The word disingenuous comes to mind.

This is actually an ingenious way to dispose of about-to-be-expired product.

They can't just keep Shrimp Cocktail in a serving bin forever. So if they have the day's shrimp that's been thawed and sat out in the serving bin for 15 or so hours (noon-3am next day?) and it needs to get disposed of in the next 2-3 hours ,what do you do with it?

Your options are throw it out or give it away. They figure they can drum up some cheap advertising (99c Shrimp Cocktail!) that nobody will use (3am? wtf!). Their cost of doing this is near zero - since it's going in the garbage anyway and it's a loss leader that doesn't cannibalize potential sales because... exactly how many people are coming to Circa at 3 AM anyway and are getting pulled away from Saginaw's and their $20 sammies to hit that 99c shrimp? Hell, many will likely get the shrimp and then a sammy anyway.

If they drag a few souls in each night in the wee hours and get a chance to get you to stick around or come back all without an actual cost or significant risk to losing a better sale in favor of this...that's all upside and no downside.

Maybe there will be lines at 3:00 AM on weekends. We don't know. They should give away stickers that say "I got one at Circa" or something. They could also have special days where it's 99 cents all day. Like Derek's birthday. I think it's brilliant.

I agree it's brilliant, I will be there at 3am, which is when I would get it anyway, and the nostalgia will be spot on point.

Ha, ha. It's far more likely I'll hit the Megabucks progressive slots, than it is for me to be up between 0300-0500.

And I don't even play slots. :kill:

We'll see, but I doubt the crowds between 3-5am exist now when juxtaposed to last year for example. Does it hurt? Probably not, but is this some sort of brilliant idea? As far as I'm concerned, not really. I suppose any gimmick to get foot traffic in the door is fine, but at $25 table mins during the morning hours at Circa makes me think the people will come unabated regardless of what's going on in the world lol.
