Ooooh, I loved her songs! I even dressed up like her for a Halloween party during college (my hair was dark and short back then...).

One of America's top Box Office banking actors Judge Reinhold had one of his first roles in Shadows of the Night. Bill Paxton also has a role, at least until he is taken out.

I saw her in Atlantic City at Showboat (now closed) in 2013. It was a good show and I remember that her husband was a good guitarist. I read one of my old trip reports to help my memory.

She was good until Love is a Battlefield. Singers/Groups always lose their edge when they go too mainstream and pop.

I LOVE Pat Benetar. My husband and I have seen her live at least a dozen times, including in Vegas back in the day. Neil Geraldo (Spyder) is a very talented guitarist, writer and producer. Although Pat no longer hits the highest notes like she used to, her voice is still excellent live.

Two favorite memories - seeing them at Gruene Hall, a tiny venue between Austin and San Antonio, also the oldest dancehall in Texas. We got there early and were right up front, and my husband handed Neil a brand new UT hat which he put on, flashed Hook 'Em Horns, and wore for the rest of the show. The crowd went nuts.

Second is seeing them from front row seats at ACL Live Moody Theater. We completely lucked into the tickets about 4 days ahead of the show and it was GREAT.

Rumble in the Jungle. Kinshasa, Zaire - October 1974.

If Foreman would have connected with the uppercut at the :48 second mark Ali would still be in orbit, somewhere around Pluto. One of the all-time great bouts in heavyweight boxing history.

My buddies and I did a retro Bar Crawl -
We were in our late twenties and ended up in a college bar
where we were laughing at the amount of water / fluid / beer ?....and crushed glass !
was on the floor of this downtown College Bar.
We had drank here in our college years......wondering if the floor was that bad ?...back then ?
    Suddenly !
The Juke Box blares PAT BENATAR 's ==
" Hit Me With Your Best Shot "
Every College chick in the bar starts singing it out the top of their lungs !
I was shocked ?........What the hell ?......is going on ?

    .
And here's my question about that particular song ?
    The lyrics -
A woman is saying " Hit me with your best shot "
: C'mon !......hit me !......and fire away !"
    .
My question always has been.......about this song .....
She's asking to get punched ?
And a bar room full of women are singing this ?
    .
    I never understood this ?
    .
"Hit Me With Your Best Shot "............is a metaphor ?
    .
    Ugh.........

I recall in the very late 70's one of my friends... you know the guy who always fancy's himself the first in your area to hear about new groups... started raving about Pat Benatar. He was the same guy that turned us on to UFO, Van Halen, Judas Priest, Pat Travers, etc., so his credibility was solid. Man... that voice and the rockin' band behind her... incredible!!!! Not to mention the "chicks totally were into her!", so of course, no vehicle cassette-player (we'd graduated from 8-tracks by then) was to be without Pat. Never got to see her live.

I don’t think it’s about getting punched. Think of another male/female activity.

From an interview with Eddy Schwartz who wrote the song

“I was in a kind of weird therapy when I was in my mid-20s, it was called bio-energetics, I believe. One of the things we did was punch pillows, I guess it had something to do with getting out hostility. I went to a session where we punched the pillows for a while. It all seemed kind of strange, but I remember walking outside of this therapy session and standing on the doorstep of the building I’d been in, this small house in Toronto, and the title just came to me, Hit Me With Your Best Shot…. I haven’t been to therapy before or since. Maybe I should go back,” states Schwartz
