    My Trip Report

    Greetings!

My wife and I are about 27 hours from take off for my 10th trip and her 3rd.

I started a trip report back in July on my scrapped together bachelor party but unfortunately bachelor party things took the lead and before I knew it I was back home. I’m committed this time though to at least provide daily updates and picture dumps.

Flying out of RDU tomorrow night around 5:45 with SW with an hour layover in Chicago. We should land around 9:30 Vegas time. Originally had a non stop flight early Friday morning, but SW changed the schedule and the earliest we could land was around 2pm. It made too much sense to just leave after work Thursday instead. Heading back Tuesday at 10:30AM with another layover in Chicago landing back home around 8:30. All flights booked with points.

We have 1 night at Caesars in an Octavius Premium room comped, 2 nights at Bellagio Comped (going to try for an upgrade,) and finally 2 nights at Cosmo comped (went ahead and sprung for the fountain view upgrade at $30.)

Not thrilled with having to move three times, but it is what it is. The change of flight forced me to book an extra comp night somewhere so Caesars fit the bill and we won’t even unpack. I’ve never stayed at Bellagio before so I’m excited about that, and finally a Cosmo fountain view will cap it all off.

Food Options we already know about include Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast, Nine Fine Irishman using two MyVEGAS rewards, Wicked Spoon, Beer Park for the UNC-FSU game Saturday afternoon, Lago for Dinner Saturday Night, and we’ll squeeze in a breakfast at Ellis Island. We’ll also eat somewhere downtown as well most likely for lunch.

Gambling: My wife is a blackjack player and a few slots. She’s comfortable up to $15. She’s also become a really good sports bettor so with baseball, college football, and NFL I’m sure we’ll spend some time in the sports book as well.

I primarily play blackjack, craps, slots, sports, and a little VP. I’m comfortable up to $15 for BJ but have wanted to experiment with $25 so I might give that a whirl. I don’t feel as comfortable going higher than $10 in craps and based on my last trip, I still may not be able to play as much as I like. This will be a heavy slots, bj, and sports weekend if I had to guess.

Other: This trip was originally planned in April to see a concert on Friday night. We both figured things would be back to normal by now but obviously not.

Long story short, we were supposed to married in April and postponed to August. We decided to get married legally in May just to be safe with family only. Glad we did as we had to postpone in August as well.

Because of this, we never had a “true” wedding ceremony. We decided to “renew vows” so to speak and will be doing that at Chapel of the Flowers on Sunday Afternoon as it seems like a fun thing to do and to make good memories. This is obviously the focal point of the trip for her and obviously I’m excited too. We’ll probably do happy hour at The STRAT after as I haven’t been up there since my first trip in 2015 and she’s never been.

We also are going to do the Mob Museum on Monday and use that as our Fremont day. I normally spend at least a few nights a trip downtown, but back in July I just wasn’t super comfortable with the clientele down there when I went on a Friday night. I figured a Monday morning would be ideal to still be able to squeeze some time in down there.

I’ll do my best to post daily updates, but at worst a daily summary as I should have a bit more relaxation time on this trip. I hope you’ll follow along!

Congratulations on getting married! You've got a wonderful trip lined up. Wishing you and your new bride a fantastic trip!

And the Mob Museum was on my list to visit again, along with the speakeasy bar there. I missed visiting there this time and it's been a few years so I'll be curious about your take.

And having spent time at The D during the week, I agree Monday morning should be fine.

Enjoy. My wife and I will be in Vegas tomorrow, then heading to Sedona for a few days to celebrate her birthday, then back to Vegas on the 20th for two nights. Finally, 2 nights in Reno.

    Packed and ready to roll!

Getting some work done, heading to the bank, picking up some prescriptions, and dropping the pup off shortly.

Caesars just sent me the check in email which makes it feel real! Heading to the airport in around 7 hours.

    Let’s do this!

It's a shame you had to pack such an ugly color of blue. :wink2: Wishing you luck in everything BUT the game.

I highly recommend the Shepard's Pie and Buffalo Wings at Nine Fine...they came out free for both with the MyVegas Reward. It's basically a $35 voucher if that helps gauge your order. El Cortez has a single deck blackjack for $10, I went late at night but I'm sure it's anytime Enjoy!

    Morning from beautiful Las Vegas!

Our flights were uneventful. As usual SW does a great job. From time we landed until the time we arrived at Caesars was about 40 minutes and that included a bathroom break at the airport. Uber took about 3 minutes to meet us.

Caesars check in took about 20 min or so. Originally I was just going to use the kiosk, but after 3 minutes we noticed a sign saying something along the lines of “wait here for employee and temperature scan.” Unfortunately no employee was there so we jumped in the regular line. We are in the Octavius Tower on a comp and are on the 50th AKA first floor. Not a bad view at all. We can actually see the fountains peak their head over!

The room is very large and quite nice. I’m not a room snob at all, but it is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Cabinets and walls worn and paint chipping, etc. That’s not a complaint, but rather and observation.

I was hungry as I hadn’t had a meal since lunch at home earlier in the day so we grabbed a two slice combo in the food court. It was stone cold but did the trick. 20 bucks charged to the room, didn’t snap a picture because I was so hungry, but I promise you didn’t miss anything.

Caesars was busy and my plans of playing a table game went by the wayside unless I wanted to stalk seats and I was just too tired to put up the effort. We essentially slotted around. I had one nice LL bonus, that put me up around $140 or so but then Mr. Buddha and Dragon Link took my profits and around $200 more. I swear I told myself a thousand times I’d avoid that version of the game as we have an ax to grind, maybe I’ll learn one day.

My wife ended up even, and our 2 hour opening night gambling quest was completed. Got offered drink service within a minute of sitting down at a machine and then not once thereafter (although we did jump around a lot.)

The plan this morning is breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi and then getting to Bellagio early to link reservations and try for a fountain view. We’ll strip hop claiming our myVEGAS free play and she’s going to collect some birthday free play as well. I’ll also go ahead and get my bets in for tomorrow’s CFB action. Also, we’ll probably settle in somewhere at some point for the Braves game.

    Updates to come!

Breakfast was great this morning at Mon Ami Gabi. Absolutely perfect weather. I got the steak and eggs with a Baileys and Coffee, and the wife got the Sausage Egg Benedict. $80 after tip.

Walked to Bellagio to see if we could merge our separate reservations. Slid $50 between my ID and players card. At first she mentioned there was few available and check in started at 3. Once she saw the $50 she got to work and next thing you know we are in our room now with a fountain view! She asked if she could break the $50 as we left and I told her it was for her. So we have scored an early check in plus fountain view. Great Service!

Pictures of the view to come. Heading back to Caesars to get our luggage and check out.

A great start to the trip! Though maybe not a big deal it was irritating to read that you got served anything-but-hot pizza. I know that pizza joint in the food court. It's huge but it's not complicated to make sure customers get a hot slice of too-expensive pizza. Geez.

In any event, wishing you a great rest of your trip!

SW cancelling their standard daily directs from RDU to LAS during COVID times sucks.
