Hi there! I am new to these boards, and in fact new to Vegas (I've been once before in 2015). I am usually an avid cruise casino junkie, but since I have now had 8 casino comp cruises cancelled since March  I decided to head to Vegas to get my bonus round fix!

I am taking my adult son for his 23rd birthday in December and I am looking for any and all advice on hotels, restaurants, casinos, etc. We are staying on the strip, most likely at an MGM property since I can match status with my cruise tier there.

I look forward to reading all I can!

So I am totally a slot player, I have never played table games. I am definitely more of a "grind it out for comps and credits" than a "chase the jackpot" player. I prefer the older, non-branded slots, but a fun bonus round gets me every time!
I generally play 4-6 hours a day on cruise ships depending on the port times and when the casino is open. My usual daily bank is $500-$1000, again depending on whether the casino is open only at night or all day long. For this trip I am budgeting $1000/day, but I might hand some of that off to the kid for his birthday!
The last time I was in Las Vegas, I stayed at the Bellagio almost exclusively. It was the first time I had ever gambled in my life. Now my experience is only on cruise ship casinos, which I get are totally different. Just really looking for favorite casino floors and why, plus any birthday restaurant suggestions!

Welcome! Have fun, stay safe, and win lots! As far as casino floors, my favorites are PH, Cosmo, Bellagio. I love the Aria casino floor, but I can’t win a damn thing there. Wynn/Encore rates some merit as well!

That’s the beauty of Vegas... You and the birthday boy can venture through them all and totally find a favorite!

Exactly! The one time I was in Vegas, in 2015, Aria was my only measurable win and we only stopped there was because we had just eaten at Julian Serrano's and we were too full to walk ALL THE WAY back to Bellagio! I am really looking forward to playing in some new casinos this trip.

    Good idea! Thanks!

    Welcome to VMB!

I am also a slot player, often a grinder putting in many hours a day, and also enjoy cruising with some casino play.
Since you mentioned you would probably stay at an MGM property, and like some of the older slots I’d suggest:

    Mirage (my mlife home base)
Bellagio (my 2nd favorite mlife property)
Aria is a great place to stay, but not my cup of tea as I can’t win there, lol, plus they don’t have many old timey slots.

For your son’s birthday dinner, if he is a steak guy, Bavette’s at Patk MGM is excellent, Carbone at Aria for Italian, and Cosmo, Venetian, Wynn all have a very good selection of great restaurants in every category.

Hope it’s a great trip and best of luck.

Thanks so much for the tips! Mirage is currently my top choice. Also, I had been looking at Bavette's so I am happy to hear it is good. He is certainly a steak guy! I've been to Prime but that is the only steakhouse I have tried in Vegas.
