Bringing Outside Drinks into the Wynn

Staying at the Wynn this coming weekend and was already planning on hitting up the Walgreens or Liquor store for some drinks for my room. However, I received an email from Wynn stating no outside food or drinks are allowed. With the bag checks on weekends I’m curious how to pull this off? I don’t want to spend the money to then have to confiscate it....

Can I hide the bottles in a shopping bag? Is there a certain entrance that would be easier? Curious if anyone else has dealt with this recently? Any advice would help!

With such a policy at a Vegas casino, I would cancel my reservation and vote with my wallet.

 

Agreed, I've never seen a Vegas casino ban outside alcohol entirely and in any capacity, that's unheard of.

It was an emailed I received about my upcoming reservation. It said, "Outside food and beverage, as well as coolers, are not permitted at the resort and casino." I understand coolers, but I was more concerned about them confiscating a bottle of wine or liquor I buy from Walgreens or a liquor store..

 

I believe a lot of hotels have this in their reservation terms and conditions.
I have only seen it enforced once and that was in Atlantic City.
With all the problems they have had in Vegas over the past couple months ,Wynn is probably trying to reduce the cooler/case of beer crowd.
My guess is a discreetly place bottle in your luggage would not be snatched.

 

Hard to say. Wynn is inspecting/screening folks coming in.

I have not seen any detail on how close they inspect guests.

Or how much they inspect hotel guests with their luggage.

 

I'm curious how they will handle this at a time when luggage is screened. Please let us know how it turns out.

 

There was another thread about the "bag check" or screening - but I don't think anyone was able to give any good detail about exactly how much they are checking things and if hotel guests are different. If hotel guests are not being inspected as much, I would buy at the airport and put in your checked bags. but - no idea if that would work either.

Walking from one hotel to another with a drink is a time honored tradition. Won't patronize a place that doesn't allow it.

 

Pack it into your suitcase and you shouldn't have a problem. You're a guest and they do not have mini-fridges so they can't argue it against you. Now, if you're bringing in a suitcase full of booze, that may raise some red flags. Honestly, I think this is more of a written deterrent for the lawyers.

 

As others have stated I feel like you'll be fine as long as you don't appear to be turning your room into a party room which could become a problem for them later in the evening.
If you're still worried you can always drink em first then take the "empties" in...after that I don't think they'll harass you the second time around.

 

That's not what the "no outside food or drink" decree is about. It's about bulk amounts and deterring people from bringing in off-site catering.

Besides, Wynn is so far away from everything else, you should be done with your single drink unless you've been nursing it.

 

This is probably similar to the rule that you will be charged for any additional guests in your room passed the 4 you are allowed. Never enforced, just have a reasonable amount and don't look like you're trying to open up your own speakeasy in your room. And no need to ask for permission . Just act normal.

 

Are there any hotels in vegas that actually enforce the rule on coolers and outside drinks bringing to the room? or do they just say it in the terms just to say it like it mentions number of people to the room max is 2, but I have not heard of that enforced anywhere either.

 

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give an updated. The Wynn is obviously doing their temperature checks and they are extremely thorough, which I appreciate very much! As far as checking bags, I haven’t noticed too much, last night I came through the South Entrance around 11 and they were using their metal detector wands and were looking quickly in bags. I plan to go to liquor store today and I will report back on how I’m checked. Thank you for all your replies!

If you read the few posts above, OP outlines his experiences thus far, and plans to update again later today, once he has been out shopping.

 

I remember on a trip when we took a bunch of alcohol to bring up to the room the bellman was being rude about it saying we're not allowed to bring that much alcohol. He said that he would let us "slide this time" but that we would need to "hook him up" for helping us take it to the room. IIRC it was 2 bottles of tequila and some mixers, sodas, and a bottle of Hennessy.

Tipped him $20 bucks for helping us bring it up seems like he was expecting more, he just looked at it didn't say thank you and walked off.
