We have been to NOLA Harrah's four times in the past few years and just received a great offer for Oct-Dec with free play, resort credit and a credit towards our flight.

Thinking of flying in the weekend of Nov. 15 when the Niners are playing the Saints. My husband is a Niner fan and I'm a Saints fan. Lucky to go to a Saints game a few years ago on Dec. 24 when they weren't in the playoffs so had great seats for $25.00.

For those who might have stayed recently how are the rooms? Do they still have refrigerators? I know they don't have coffee makers. We ran into that problem last time and I will be prepared if we go in November.

I believe the Laurel Lounge is closed and casino is only 25% capacity. Are drinks still being served while gambling?

I think it will still be a fun getaway, but not certain if it is worth a flight halfway across the country with many reduced amenities. My husband says "yes" but I am on the fence. Thank you for your input and advice.

Bars are closed still in NOLA as well so if you think you will get that experience you might not want to go. We were thinking about it too.

niner fans love NOLA and show up big when we play, we love it...the hotel has had all rooms remodeled a few years ago so everything is nice. the junior (corner suites) have coffee makers, with low attendance, might get lucky and get upgraaded to one of those rooms, they are quite nice...every room ive had there has had a refrigerator, couldnt tell ya if the regular rooms had a coffee machine, i dont drink that stuff lol...

no lounge or any bars open at this time inside the casino, only bars that serve food in the city can serve alcohol at the moment and no go cups, however as early as this weekend they will be making a decision to move up to phase 3 with the rest of the state, that would allow harrahs from 25% to 50% and bars to open back up, inside harrahs and city wide, with restrictions of course

drinks are still being server for people playing, I had issues with the drink service on the machine 2 weeks in a row but a server walking around was on top of it...you can also simply just ask the server walking around even if you arent playing

remember we have high humidity so the cold is a wet cold here, pack accordingly and see you soon

Was there a few months ago. Did have valet at the hotel, but we self parked in the ramp next door. Rooms are nice, had refrigerator, no coffee machine. The early am train horn has woken me a few times in the river view rooms, but the view is nice.
Temperature check on entering casino. Masks required for all.
Casino wasn't very busy during the week, but had a bigger/younger crowd Frid/Sat night, we didn't play much those nights. Really didn't feel reduced those nights, 25 percent of occupancy is still a good number of people and isn't a percentage of machines.
Machines are shut off to have at least one machine gap, but they moved many into circles where possible.
I noticed they had pulled out a number of older machines in a few areas. For example they moved a number of high limit slots into circles just out of the HL area and pulled a number of the older reel machines.
NOLA bars not open, but casinos can serve drinks at machines, so I believe that pushed the bigger weekend night crowd.
Read even casino drinks have to cut off at 11 now so not sure how that has changed things... Had no issues getting drinks. As @NewOrleansSlimm mentioned this might change soon if bars can open.
Buffet is closed/boarded off and doubt it will open anytime soon.
Planning to go back next month, I'd say go if you don't mind a quieter scene.

Thank you all for your responses. We are mostly day time gamblers and avoid the crazy night time scene, but I do recall years ago getting a bit smashed to the wee hours of the morning at Harrahs NOLA. It's ok if I don't repeat that. I figured the buffet was closed. But another one of my favorite restaurants in that area, Grand Isle is open. Maybe we will get lucky and the Laurel Lounge will be open by mid-November.

I have doubts on the lounge as it's so dange d tiny! I'd like to see them throw a bar up in the buffet and make that a temporary lounge. Would like to see them bring back the Pho also.

the hotel valet is open, the casino valet is not open, and yes currently even though new orleans is being kept in phase 2 while everyone else is in phase 3, they did limit harrahs drinks to shut off at 10pm, by the next week they put it at 11pm...as of today they voted to allow the neighboring parish to reopen bars, hopefully by end of this week NOLA will follow

grand idle is open, they are running a $1 a piece oyster promo right now to get business in, found out recently they no longer offer the oyster challenge

I know the lady currently running the lounge, ill text her later and see if shes heard anything, otherwise its closed...years back they have moved the lounge to hoodoo and last few times the bottle service area in Masquerade, which currently is closed off

as for buffet, from what I got from someone whos been there a long time, he said its never coming back, take that for what you will

Note: bars did open for a time period post covid. Then had to close down again after a spike. So I would think there is a decent chance they are open by Nov 15. One thing that is strange with the covid restrictions is there was no glass wear or cups in the room of any kind. Purchased a plastic one at CVS for water.

Are you trying to get into the football game? that may be off all season

Brandt, we did not expect to get into a game. It was more for a good excuse to get to NOLA and stay at Harrah's especially with the travel offer. Back when the season was announced we talked about getting tickets and making that trip, but of course we didn't because of the virus. There is a lot to consider like any long distance trip these days.

@NewOrleansSlimm, my best friend and I were hoping that our annual February trip to New Orleans is still on, however, I'll be sure to check in with you come January to see what the deal is (things change fast obviously so I won't bug ya until then). Seems like Nola is one of the last areas to open bars that serve alcohol only, which while I get the intent, I would have to imagine is devastating for a town which, let's face is, relies on drunk tourism (amongst other things lol).

I hope my trip is still on but it seems like things are tenuous down there. We also always make a day or two jaunt to Harrah's as my friend can sit at a table and drink for free as long as I'm playing green chips. He was surprised how good drink service down there is, but I wasn't as I've always had a blast at Harrah's Nola, even though I rarely win lol.

One thing is for sure, I'm normally trashed my entire weekend there and come back 5-7 lbs heavier from the damn shrimp Po Boys.

I will and I sure hope so. We’ve all been pushing things back but I’m hoping next year, at least I can visit even if there’s restrictions, which invariably there will be.

Just remember the free play at the tables is inflated. If you have $100 in free play it is a one time use coupon and I think BJ only pays 1:1. So the coupon in my mind is worth less than 50% of the quoted value.

Wife and I were there this past weekend and had a good time. Casino was pretty quiet, reasonable amount of tables were open, slots took all of the wifey's free cash. Drinks flow just fine from the slot machine request screen, average service at the tables. Drink service ends at 11pm. Our room had fridge and coffee maker. Grand Isle had all day happy hour with fantastic oysters on Friday but none on Saturday due to recent storms. A lot of local restaurants and bars were open. Good Luck! :jester:

Thursday they are supposed to make an announcement of relaxing the restrictions in New Orleans...while the 11pm, shutoff will pretty much stay in place, they should be announcing that bars will be able to open at limited capacity
