I'm not hearing the same about California. Several people I know ended up having to do "business" in nature. I gave that up as a child. I just can't.

We thought about pool time, but most (if not all) are closed here as well. My hubs is practically dying from the lack of jacuzzi time - lol.

Sounds like you are doing exactly what I would've done. Better safe than sick or dead, I say. I'm tired of eating out of boxes and serving myself. I just want to sit and enjoy a meal like a decent human!

Thanks for the tips and tricks of your experience. IIRC, we're on the same coast, but you're in Washington I believe. California (Bay Area and beyond) is so much stricter! (I'm glad and stand behind the rules!)

I'm jealous, too, but I can wait. Just gives me that much more time to add a couple grand to my bankroll!! Hoping the vaccine comes out in time for me to do a trip in late Spring or early Summer 2021.

I hope they help. I am in WA. Our trip was to Oregon and both Hood River and our hometown are pretty strict. Lots of things are still closed, including indoor dining. IMO, you just have to be prepared as you can be, and then be prepared on top of that to be flexible when things don't turn out as you had hoped.

I guess I've been driving back and forth through Nowhere Nevada for long enough to know that when you see an open and relatively clean bathroom, you pee. :haha:

I hope you can find a little escape. It's so good for your mental health to just take a break from all the crazy. :goofy:

Ive been to the local casinos in summerlin (Vegas) at least 30+ times and I am high risk. The key is to not take off your mask while in public. All my meals are to go. There are mostly older people at these casinos. Its also less populated during mid week.

Opposite here, we bit the bullet and have started the process to install a pool next summer.......way more $’s than we would have spent travelling, gambling and dining out but we’ll have our own “little oasis” if this thing drags on or there’s another.

That’s the decision we ultimately came to as well. We decided to put our discretionary spending into our home to make it a place that has certain elements that we both like having in resorts. Plus, we are both working from home and have been told it’s indefinite (although I’m certain I will be going back at some point in the distant future). So we’re just updating our home, all those things we wanted to add or fix are much more nagging when you’re stuck inside for 7 straight months anyway. :)

We are missing our Vegas trips badly too. We feel your pain. Sadly, even if we wanted to risk the uncertain situation in Las Vegas, we aren't allowed to travel there just now. The ESTA program is on hold, so we couldn't go even if we were happy with the current situation. That takes the pressure off for us because there is nothing we can do about it.
OH is 85 and I'm 60. He's healthier than I am, but we are happy to wait until things settle down a bit.

I could have written your post (except for the hospital thing). We're in our late 70's and don't go anywhere. It is so frustrating! Friends have been going to the local casino (Nekoosa) and say it's safe. But we've come this far safely and don't want to blow it now. So I guess we'll just wait this out and plan for March 2021. Luckily we went to Vegas for Valentine's Day when things were just starting and scratched our itch.

I am crazy jealous too and I was just there 6 weeks ago! I think part of the problem is that my offers are so good right now. I have a kinda sorta trip planned for early next year but I am preparing for that to get cancelled as there is another surge predicted and our governor is really strict. Just keep stacking that paper, some day we'll get the all clear!

While I understand you’re scared, I’ve been to Vegas twice since June and going again in October. While I’m 51, I’m overweight, so possibly at risk, but I feel if you take precautions, such as mask wearing and hand sanitizer you should be fine. Of course there’s no guarantees, but life is full of risks. OTOH if your apprehensive about going, it’s probably best not to. Vegas obviously isn’t the same, but a good time can be had. Hopefully next year this will be all behind us.

I think for most people this has been the worst year of their lives. I just pray at some point next year this is all in our rear view mirror.

Why should I be envious? Seems childish to me.
If someone can go,more power to them.

I'm not envious per se, I enjoy reading TR's from those who are going. I am missing Vegas terribly and jonesing for a trip, but know that it will likely be well into 2021 before we can go.

The last time we went to Vegas was Feb 2019, and while we were there my mother in FL was hospitalized and I had to go from our flight home right onto one to FL, and she died the day after I arrived. So Vegas is now a bit wrapped up in painful memories for me. A few months after she died we moved (it was already planned) from TX to FL where my Dad still is. We semi retired and took over a year off working, so financially Vegas wasn't in the plan, then Covid hit and I don't care to go under current conditions. Now, I've started a new job and it'll be next year before I have much vacation time accrued.

For someone used to 3-4 trips per year, 2+ years without one is painful but hopefully when we finally return it will be a bit closer to "normal", if such a thing ever exists again.

Being at the side of three parents dying constituted years that were far worse, personally, for us. On a macro scheme, yes, 2020 is shit, without a doubt, but not because we can't/won't go to Vegas.

2020 has been pretty damn tough on those who lost parents or loved ones and went through that without the support of being surrounded by family and friends. One of our dear friends lost both parents within weeks and it was quite isolating for her and not even able to hold a proper funeral :(
Pretty accurate to say 2020 bites big time.

It does. I'm not denigrating that. I'd just rather take 2020 over several recent years. I did note "personally" in response to a blanket statement. We were lucky so far in this, no one immediately affected, still working and finding myriad ways to not feel like 24/7/365 shut-ins.
