Ok @jpw711 this makes up for leaving early on your last TR! I am totally up for, what I am sure will be, a Jerry Clower inspired hunt and trap escapade. Let us all hope the there is never a moment where the events of the evening lead to you holler for your wife to “Shoot up in here amongst us, cause one of us has got to have some relief!”

That rat bastard stayed on camera for 3, THREE, hours last night. Luckily, George, or Florence, got there before him. (We already have a Weezee)

This cat needs to be taught that it CAN jump!

    PICT4014.JPG

It's friend, aka RAT BASTARD knows how:

    PICT4046.JPG

    PICT4048.JPG

Kitty needs to learn food is available during daylight hours also, but she runs like a cheetah when she sees a human.

Back to the drawing board on how to feed the cat at night, and not the rat bastard. Can't believe the cat didn't jump up there. It runs so fast, I don't think it's injured.

“I have to laugh, because I've outsmarted myself. My foe, my enemy, is an animal, and in order to conquer him, I have to think like an animal, and, whenever possible, to look like one. I've gotta get inside this dude's pelt and crawl around for a few days.”

@jpw711 Time to start thinking like a rat bastard, or a kitty...not sure which lol

@jpw711 Come on, you can outsmart an opossum. I have faith in you!

I will now quietly sit back and wait for the next development.

I know somebody who had the same possom get in the trap night after night. They had to set up a little house and feeding station for it away from the stray cats. They named it. Not really a pet but kinda ended up that way. They don't think he or she was the brightest bulb in the box.

My Dad built a shelter for the "outside" cats and kept food and water there. He named them all, not very originally, but he did it. The white one was Whitey, the black one was Blackie, the striped on was Tiger and so on.

One day, he reached into the box and got pretty badly bitten by an opossum. He had to go for rabies shots.

Some time later, he found a raccoon in there, but it didn't bite him.

I like opossums. I mean sure, they can be buttholes but so can cats. They at least give you a chance to walk away first. Lol. I’ll put up with just about any animal arrangement outside though.

We are making progress. Wish it was more cause there is one hell of a storm going on outside right now, but she seems to stay dry. Last week she was on the roof of our detached garage. kitty.jpg

yeah, you got her, try opening the door, leaving it open, and having food just inside..
    for weeks..

(once TNRed and fed around 14 feral cats in a condo. It was the better halfs plan so I went with it. Can you imagine how hard trapping the last unfixed one was?)
(3 of them moved with us, 1 became indoor-too fat to get through the cat door)
(once we had the cat door in the new place, possums, skunks, and racoons (old and adorably young) visited inside for the free vittles.. cats had no beef with them, the dry food was free flowing)

I had a squirrel jump straight into my face from the
bottom of a hooded garbage can.
It was under all the trash in the can.
I leaned in to remove the liner - stuck my face down to pull
out the liner + this squirrel comes flying out of the trash right
    into my face !
It was buzz sawing it's front claws about an inch from my face cos
I was just quick enough to fall backwards.
Then the thing lands under my feet as I'm falling backwards and
I trip over the damn thing !
That was about 20 yrs ago ---- and I ALWAYS - kick the can before
I touch it - since then.
    .
Be careful ......raccoons may start showing up and then you will have a REAL problem !
When winter hits......your new buddy will make it's decision to come inside.
That's when our " stray " chose us........and we had her for 16 more years - the smartest cat ever !
    Good luck
But why trap this cat ?

I was thinking of trapping the cat to get it inside, it's pretty wild and skittish, though it is making progress.

Speaking of squirrels, and this is a true story, there's a couple of guys that live here that come from a big family, and these two are twins. Everybody in the family is over 6'4 and strong, the come over and pat you on the back to say hello, you fly forward.

Anyway, an older guy hired them to trim and cut down some oak trees. These guys didn't use safety ropes or anything at the time, which was back in the 80's One of them was up in a tree topping it and hits a nest of squirrels. One squirrel runs up his arm and right down his overalls. So he's up in this tree, with a chain saw in one hand, holding on to the tree with the other hand, while a squirrel is doing a dance down in his pants.

Same guys, my dad hired them to take down a concrete block wall on a building next to one he owned that had burned. It's about 5 degrees outside when they start and they are up there with 16 lb sledges swinging away at these blocks when the one twin lands a blow on the other twins gloved hand. He looked at him and said "what did you do that for"? and continue to work for another 4 hours. Comes into the coffee shop for lunch and started taking the glove off. Of course the glove and blood was frozen to his hand.

I don't know which was worse, I'm thinking the squirrel.
