It would appear they made a mistake in perpendicular.....or I’m crooked. Is it leaning or just me? Taken from Binion’s corner facing California.

 

Quit about 9:20 last night and ate at the market street cafe. It was ok and not crowded at all. Went to bed by 11 and up and at ‘em this am by 8. Stopped by the sports book at California which is a big tv room now without an active bar or betting window but a bartender who waits on the patrons who aren’t there. Keith is that bartender from 12-8 am.
The betting window is not open and hasn’t been open since March. It didn’t seem relevant in June as there were no sports to wager on at the time.
If you ever ate at the redwood bar instead of dining area Keith was the taller bartender. He is working(?) 12:00-8 am nos but not busy. Matt, who was his sidekick barback works from 9 pm - 3 am. They are upbeat but you can see the wear and tear. I’d you don’t know of whom I speak it’s ok to ask WtF is he talking about.

 

Last two from last night. Both near misses. As an aside, if you go to the paradise cafe at Fremont for breakfast it is a marathon of waiting. We have been here 25 minutes and finally got water but now coffee is gone. Only one waitress and a lot of patrons (a lot now is maybe 15). A rudderless ship in the night.

Well we got done with breakfast. The waitress was overwhelmed to say the least. We were underwhelmed to say the most. Food delivered in “shifts”. At check out the cashier said they had laid off so many employees this was the result. Never saw her trying to help. Like everyone had a list of things NOT to do.
As we went to Walgreens we processed. No one was helping anyone. The busser didn’t pour coffee or refill water. No one was assisting their fellow employees. This was the third incident where an employee sort of vented (in a nice but frustrating way) as to the changes.
While we were there one couple sat for 10 minutes witnessing the disorder and finally left. No one asked what was wrong or could they help. No one went by the table to see if water or coffee could be brought to the table. Very frustrating and very poor management / oversight / expectations and / or training.
Magnolia cafe on the other hand was as good as it gets yesterday. So it can be done in tough times.

Rant over. Off for some nickel revenge.

 

Forgot. Posted a picture yesterday of the pit area at california and it was dead. Last night after 9 when we went to eat it was the same pic but I didn’t take one.
Honestly not sure how king this will last as they bleed $’s.

 

@bubbakitty No sign of Barbie at sportsbook bar? Blonde, short & used to work at Main Street bar near escalators.
