I try to stay on Eastern time in Vegas. In bed about 8, up about 3. I laze around a bit and head for the casino about 5.

Last night I was sound asleep and woke up a little after 10. There was a huge party in the adjoining room that was spilling out into the hall. Loud music, shouting, laughing and just a plain good time. I won’t discuss the virus dangers in such a situation, shouldn’t effect me. I was young once (getting more difficult to remember) so I didn’t want to spoil the fun. I set my iPad on the nightstand and put on some Netflix right by my head to try to drown out the noise. I’m not a light sleeper and thought I could doze back off. After 30 minutes I got frustrated and called to ask that they keep it down. I told the operator I didn’t want to be a party pooper. She said don’t worry and sent someone up. That took another 30 mins. The call resulted in the music being turned off but the party continued. That was fine with me and I did fall back to sleep.

I must admit that after I called and was waiting to hear security arrive I started wondering if I would suffer any repercussions from calling. With all the fights and genuine bad behavior here lately, I wonder if I did the right thing. It 4am and I’ve been up for an hour. It’s very quiet now but I heard a few doors slam at 3. Maybe I’m just jealous of the stamina I no longer have.

Are you one that would call to complain? Is there a time or noise level that crosses the line?

I’m a huge baby and would not call and complain. BUT I can also usually sleep anywhere and through anything. Airports, sketch greyhound stations on metal benches, the literal ground at a music festival lol. Especially after a couple too many drinks haha

My hours are similar to yours but, manage to stretch them out in Vegas. It’s tough keeping the eyes open during a 9pm show!

it would take a fair bit of noise to get me out of my zzzz’s though. Gun shots? Threats? It would have to be very late Vegas time and not eastern time to get me to make the call unless it was totally out of control.

Was this an “old” person’s hotel or “young”. I think there are expectations in play as well. I would be more miffed at Bellagio than the Linq.

I have to admit, I do find it interesting heading downstairs at 4am to start my day sometimes!

I’m on East Coast time. Go to bed at 10 pm, up at 3:30 am, shower, brush teeth, Bailey’s and coffee in hand by 4. Short nap in afternoon; rinse, repeat. Absolutely love this time of day in Vegas.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with calling down if something ever gets to ‘that point.’ Pre-COVID, I stayed in hotels 3 to 4 nights each week for work, so your concern happens more than just Vegas.

You need to take care of, and look out for, yourself. Bottom line: I would call security to have them tone it down. Very fair request.

    It’s a hotel, not a bar.

While I'm not a late night party person anymore, I'm not an exceptionally early riser on vacation. I'd say on a typical night we probably end up calling it a night around midnight. I do like the early morning in the casino though. Sometimes we're down there around 6- 6:30am. It makes for some fun people watching with the ones who are still hard at it and the ones straggling back from their nights out.

While we have been generally lucky with noisy neighbors, last year we had some in the room next to us on our last night that really became a problem. Around 3 or 4am I woke up to hear loud voices in the hall. I figured they would pass on by and that would be it. No such luck. They were in the room next to us and brought a bunch of friends with them.

It sounded like they were all in our room with us. Then it became a parade in and out of the room with door slamming. It apparently wasn't just us that was annoyed because I could clearly here another guest come out and tell them to quiet down. That just made them all the louder. Next Security came up. That didn't deter the group at all. They would quiet down until Security left the floor. Security was there three times. The last time the parties either got the hint or were ejected.

That was the worse we have ever had. I would have called the front desk or Security if someone else hadn't. I'm all for having a good time, but that was ridiculous.

Hotel rooms are for rest. Casinos and bars are for parties.

I would have no problem calling if the level was high enough and/or spilling into the hallway.

It's where you want to go to the house phone downstairs and call the room about every 20 minutes or so to ask "Where's the party man? Is Dave still there?, man?" :poke:

I have called the desk a couple of times on loudmouths. I'm a night shifter so I get to bed late. Once it was some guy banging on doors going room to room. Drunk as a skunk looking for a party. Second time our next door neighbors through a connecting door would not shut up. There must have been about 8 girls in the room. The first night my husband banged with a fist and told them to shut the f up. The second night it was worse. Literally all the girls were talking at once and this went on for over 30 minutes and it was way past nnmidnight. We banged on the door and they laughed. Called security but by the time they got up they had gone out again. I made sure I made a lot of noise when I got up in the morning. Turned my TV on very LOUD. Stopped at the desk to see if we could change rooms. - No deal. Can't remember if they left that day because we had no problems the next night.

Anything after midnight rates a call.

Val---Surprised that you were not allowed to change rooms. That would have been a problem for me if they said no .

I go to sleep early since I've worked early for a long time. In my 70 or so trips I've never had a single problem, likely do to staying off strip and now DT. I would guess the party hardy groups are more strip centric.

DT has its share of babies, with grandmotherly babysitters while the proud parents take on the town with saved babysitter money. Much worse than adults ..... and you may disagree until one with colic or teething is “just” next door.  :snore:

I always take a loud sound machine to drown out a lot of ambient noise, especially since people don't seem to moderate their voices in hallways, and hotel doors are notorious for slamming. However, if there's a loud party of idiots preventing me from sleeping, I'll definitely call down to the front desk. No regrets

This is why I like staying in big suites and villas. Usually the rooms are huge, far apart, soundproofed, and are so expensive it deters the party crowd.
However, if someone was having a party, I'd be okay with it to a point. If it is so loud where there are thuds on the walls or I can clearly hear screaming, yelling, etc. I'd call.

I def would complain. Fortunately it's never been a problem. Of course in Vegas I'd just go downstairs and gamble :p

It annoys me but I normally just accept it as part of the Vegas experience. HOWEVER. On my last trip, there were at least three rooms with multiple kids per room, all hanging out together, in the hallway. All the room doors were open and the kids were free to roam between rooms. I looked inside one of the open doors and there were SO. MANY. KIDS. I might have let it go but when I stopped at the room at 1:00 AM to take a mask break, one of the parents was setting up a tent in the room doorway, while two kids were riding scooters up and down the hallway. I stopped at security when I went back down. When I came back up hours later, all the doors were closed. It was so quiet the entire next day that I fantasized they got booted for being over occupancy.

Mind you, this was at Fremont. Those rooms are so tiny. I cannot imagine sharing with that many kids! I feel like the tent was going to either be left in the open doorway or put out in the hall. There isn't enough space inside those rooms for a tent.

    Ugh.
I have been through that same situation more times than I would like to count. Many of them were years ago when our home base was Harrahs.
One trip, the room across from us was having a shindig and kept slamming the door as they were going in and out. I called security and they came to quiet them down. The ring leader of that party actually tried to fight me (I’m a 5 foot female!) and was yelling at me to “slow my roll”. I didn’t even know what that meant !!
Luckily, security handled that one well and made them leave the room. We were worried about what would happen later, but we’re leaving the next morning.
The worst experience though, we were sharing a wall with the loud room, and I swear there were at least 10 people staying in there the entire weekend.
I called the front desk all three nights at all hours, probably ending as late as 4am.
Harrahs was terrible and didn’t do anything about it. I ended up in a huge argument with the “Hotel Manager” who told me to deal with it. I was livid, and that was when I switched to MGM properties.

I don’t care how old someone is, or what time it is.
    Hotel rooms aren’t for partying.
    Go to the casino floor.
