It's been a crappy year, covid, losing 3 of my cat friends and a bunch of other garbage, but I always remind myself that others are worse off than me. I'm still much better off than many, but I'll tell ya what...life kind of sucks right now.

We got an evacuation notice yesterday. Go now. So nine cats and I left. My brother let me use his shop. My nephew brought over some of his dog crates, so with mine and a couple large kennels we got every one settled. Did I mention my brother has no power?

My cat Taz does not travel well, but using a heavy coat and gloves I was able to transfer him to a cage. Later I went to place a water dish inside. Didn't put the coat and gloves back on. Big mistake. He attacked me and sent me straight to the emergency room. Dr said it looked like claw marks, not bites. Lucky, but he got some veins. I have never bled that much in my life. Within minutes my hand swelled up about double its size. Ugly. Doc said it would turn an amazing variety of colors during the next couple weeks. I'll be sure to share.

Today my nephew got the donkey and horse out. He said he had 10 people in his driveway this morning needing a place for their animals. He tries to help everyone. A good guy.

A procession of heavy equipment, bulldozers, firefights went up the road we live on a short time ago. According to what the fire station told me this afternoon the fire was 5.9 miles from our town. The wind has died down some, so maybe we'll get lucky. If not, I got all the animals out.

For those of you familiar with Chinook Winds, the McDonald's across the street has burned down. All those evacuated from Otis to Chinook Winds have been evacuated again. :(

    Truly the year from hell.

My niece and her husband live in Rose Lodge and they have been evacuated also. They are in Grand Ronde, I think. I hope that everything will be ok with you @Catzilla and them.

Man I am so so sorry, @Catzilla !

Sending you lots of love and positive vibes, and I hope you heal up soon! Cat scratches like that are no joke! Glad you were able to get swift medical attention.

Glad you and the kitties are safe.

    Oh no!!!

Glad to hear you are safe now!

My wife and I were at Chinook Sunday and Monday night. It was amazing how quickly Monday turned from a nice day at the beach to a total nightmare. At around 3:30 AM Tuesday morning I told my wife we had to leave. The power was already out and the smoke in the air was making us feel a little sick. We ended up driving north on US 101 to Tillamook since OR 18 was already closed. Got home around 6:30 AM (Northern Clark County WA) but that drive was the most nightmarish I have ever done. Trees and power lines down all along the coast and OR 6. It was raining down tree parts all through the coast range. One large branch hit the window and I was so surprised it didn't break windshield.

Oh, no. This is horrid. A friend took 8.5 hours picking up her daughter from Depot Bay for a trip that would normally take one hour. Another friend in Detroit, Oregon, slept through the fire alarms last night and a neighbor woke him up at 1:30 AM He and his wife are sure that their home is gone.

The smoke here at the coast is disgusting. Clatsop County has posted that the wind will change directions and all the smoke from south and east will come here and be thick for the next two days. Be well!

Man...sorry to hear that Catzilla. Hang in there. My wife is helping out here with evacuated animals that are being taken to a local (Clovis CA) high school. Lucky for us we're in the valley and out of harms way....but it's really impacting our area.

Oh I am glad you and the cats got out safe. I've had some of those non-cuddler cats in my lifetime and I can't imagine fetching them in an emergency. I just have lazy ones now. Sending wishes for good luck and strength ahead.

Hoping for the best. I can't imagine what you are going through.
Maybe a couple of blizzards a year aren't so bad after all.

I'm sorry to hear you had to evacuate. So scary. I'm glad you and the furry friends got out safely. My cat, Frankie, has given me that swollen hand a couple of times when he objected to me trying to give him medicine. That's no fun at all.

Hang in there. Our thoughts are with you. Hopefully the rain will come sooner rather than later.

Let us all hope this is controlled sooner than later. Glad to hear you and the furry ones are safe for now even with a bad hand.

How scary to have to pack up like that with short notice. I hope your wounds heal soon and that everything is ok when you return.
