I am currently in the middle of planning a Vegas trip or two within the remaining months of 2020. Under consideration is a trip covering New Year's Eve week / NYE. The way the world is right now, there is no possible way that NYE in Vegas could or should be anywhere as big and grandiose as it was last year. I cannot even see the more intimate hotel-hosted parties being a thing mainly because ticketed entertainment is not yet a thing again.

This thread is a bit early, relative to when we would typically start seeing NYE offers -- usually, early- to mid-October per my participation in such threads here last year and research into prior years. Some of us would actually need to book domestic airfare for very specific dates 3-5 months in advance to avoid getting price-gouged or entirely shut out of decent travel schedules during the busiest travel times of the year. Not all of us here are a convenient 4-6 hour drive from Vegas or have a ton of 1-3 hour direct flights from which to choose (especially on the lowest-budget airlines). Thus, it is never too early to be planning.

A speculative question -- is it worth planning a Vegas trip specifically around NYE if the options for how to enjoy NYE are so indeterminate right now? To put it more into the context of the Comps forum -- what would need to be included in gaming-related NYE invitations/offers for them to be worth booking this year? I wouldn't count on a ballroom event with an elaborate dinner and entertainment, even if it could be set up with the utmost care for physical distancing. The detracting factor would be the implied prohibition on being social -- basically eliminating the whole idea of such a gathering.

An information-gathering question -- what has anyone heard from casino marketing anywhere about changes with NYE offers and whatnot for 2020?

At one Vegas resort, my quarterly offers used to include tickets to the main show in the showroom. Because ticketed entertainment does not exist right now, that part of the offer has had substitutions since re-opening. This quarter (through September), the substitution is a free cabana rental (which I used). Next quarter (Oct-Dec), it will be a kiosk game worth up to $100 worth of points (redeemable for additional free machine play or cash back).

For NYE offers, I can see the dinner parties being replaced by "for two" dining credit for select restaurants during NYE week (something akin to the Hugo's dining credit some may have received from Four Queens this summer), with better offers having access to those restaurants on NYE (something that would be most plausible specifically for CET's offers). The enticement to replace the live entertainment portions of NYE offers would most likely be additional FP. I can also see a vast reduction in the number of players receiving NYE offers in the first wave of offers being sent out. The biggest players always get offers the earliest, but the number of NYE invitations a resort can book will likely be severely limited.

I booked my Vegas holiday flights some months ago, as soon as the Jet Blue schedule for that period opened.

I'm still not 100% on my trip in 2 weeks and 2 days (!!) but I'm pretty sure I will be going! Late December/early January seems so much farther away but, at this point, I do plan to go.

Concerts are always a big part of my trips, especially at holiday time, and pools aren't really an option as a practical matter in late December, so I agree with you that casinos are likely to offer dining credit and free play and maybe different types of experiences in lieu of the big parties and clubs.

I've been invited to the Wynn NYE party for the past few years and some of the biggest Wynncore players in the world attend that party. I can't imagine what Wynncore and some of the other major properties will need to offer whales to entice them to come at that time. My guess is maybe major shopping and neat small group experiences like helicopter flights that are different but don't take you away from the casino for more than a few hours.

@Flowers Thanks for bringing up shopping and experiences as substitutes. The gift bag as a concept also fits here.

Right now I'm booked for NYE on comps at Aria and I have one booked at cosmo in a suite comped. Not sure if we'll actually go, but have them booked (and flights)

I'm dipping on NYE if my trip goes ahead.

Have 6 nights in a Spa Suite @ NYNY 25-31st, but planning to use up my Wynn gems and doing 22-31st there, instead.

Don't fancy being in town for NYE, and will toast 2021 in mysef on the flight home :D

I had to “definitely out” ONLY BECAUSE OF WORK (wife) can’t take time off at end of year otherwise we MAY go never been there during holiday season (xmas & NYE) but would love too. However even we could have gone this year I don’t think we be going this year due to COVID issues.

FYI, I usually get NYE party invite from mlife property it’s their usual 3 nights, tickets their , some RC & FP and as I recall I usually get them around towards to end of October and beginning of November Thru emails and mail invitations.

Let me play "Devil's Advocate" here, based on my personal experience of NYE in Las Vegas and my experiences over the past two months . . . .

YOU COULDN'T PAY ME ENOUGH TO ATTEND NYE 2020 IN LAS VEGAS, EITHER ON THE STRIP OR DOWNTOWN!!!

Only if I could plan activities away from the crowds, but then, why an I going to Las Vegas??

To those of you who choose to go. enjoy yourselves, but please, please, PLEASE stay safe.

Same as that, I don't like it toooo busy, and am only there in July because of UFC and the WSOP.

Don't get me wrong, I get involved in the japes, but drunk walkers are more dangerous than me on a scooter :D

How about hundreds of drunk youths on scooters like those in Vegas these days?

Think we both know the answer to that, as it's obvious.

I should have included some emojis so it was clear I was joking around.

However, I have far more problems with people careering around not looking where they are going, than I've ever caused in a scooter :)

I just received a print mail offer for NYE from the D. My increased play in August did not factor in (I already had D/GG offers through late December -- up until right before NYE -- that landed while I was staying at the D in August) since my offer is for $129 per night for up to 3 nights starting from 30 December. Also included -- two Fremont Street wristbands for NYE.

Nothing yet from CET or MGM -- though a much higher-roller has received a "save the date" from CET. It seems that the Strip resorts are holding out longer -- and for as long as possible -- to see how things shake out.

I also received a print mailer today from The D regarding a party and reservations. Nothing about free play. If I am back in Vegas for my annual holiday trip (not yet there), I am hoping I can stay at Circa for a night or two. Sent a note to my host at The D but nothing yet.

Wynncore, I believe, is still thinking through what NYE looks like.

It's starting to get late for NYE offers, even though it is still early given the current state of things. I now have Venetian on the board -- kind of. It's a slot tournament and sweepstakes (play-up contest) that takes place during the typical NYE period. I am still at the "weekday slot tourney, no resort fees" level in terms of my offers. I imagine that those who are at the "weekend slot tourney" or better offer level got a way better "NYE" offer than I did.

Still absolute crickets from CET and MGM (who, in the before-time, would have sent out NYE offers no later than six weeks ago).

I received an offer for The D only, 3 nights in a regular room, and a dinner.

Nothing else from Caesars or MGM or Venetian (@JulianC -- I'm at the level of the weekend $250k dual slot tourneys) or other casinos including my locals.

Good thing I usually opt-out of Vegas over NYE, or I'd be pretty pissed that I'd be stuck at noisy D!

I am still deciding what I want to do for New Years Eve....

My room offers for December: The D is giving me special rate of $129 per night for Dec 30-Jan 1 + tax and resort fee per night. Also a guest and I would receive 2 comp wristbands for fremont street. Any other dates are my regular free night offers. Same goes for the California/Fremont casino and 4 queens, no NYE offer. Golden Nugget though (where I have the best luck in and have been getting a lot of points at my last few trips) gave me free nights for New Years Eve, but the email does not say anything about complimentary wristbands for fremont street experience like the D one.

This is what it says for the Golden Nugget... "You and a guest are invited to join us for an elegant evening, complete with first-class dining, premium wine and cocktail service, live entertainment, and a grand celebration of the year to come."

    Your celebration also includes
    THREE COMPLIMENTARY NIGHTS

    Cocktail Attire • Jacket Required

so I assume they have their own party for the Golden Nugget and a dress code? and it does not say anything about resort fees, even in the small print, so I assume their waved like my regular offers are?. Golden Nugget and the D are the only 2 casinos that sent me NYE offer with the D I am thinking about emailing my host to see if I could get the nights free and waved resort fees if I decide on going for NYE. More things should defiantly be open by then too I am expecting and hopefully concerts. I would llike to pick to stay from Dec 29th to January 1st (or Jan 2nd if traffic is bad on Jan 1st New Years day) so I can take advantage of my free play offers from the D and 4 Queens that expire on the 29th. What I really want to know is how Golden Nuggets NYE offer works because it just says 3 comp nights and does not mention a comp wristband to party on fremont street. Also regarding coolers and bringing in drinks from home I would like to know about too for the Golden Nugget. I know the D we can bring coolers and outside drinks. Done it many of times.

My offers for free play for December: 4 Queens I have free play ($300) from Dec 1-29, D I would have free play that would have to be used by the 29th also ($75) but also have $85 in food credit that works any day, nothing in the mail yet for January offer or online at club one website. BTW please note that no free play is accepted from Dec 30th-Jan 2nd. Does not mention anything about the food offer limit. I have $400 in comp for Club One so I am good for food no matter what. Golden Nugget I would have free play from Dec 24-Dec 30th.

NOTE TO ALL: make sure you look at your dates carefully and the small prints for free play offers and room offers. The small print for the D invitation says plus tax and resort fee per night under the special rate as an example.

I checked my offers for the California online... I could have the 29th and 30th comped, but the 31st I would have to pay $115 for that night. That sounds like a good deal because the beds are so comfortable there and my mom and I could actually have a good night sleep. Also a fridge in the room. However, if I decide on California...how do I get wristbands for NYE on fremont street or is it best to party it up at the Cal that night? I am sure a lot of people will be there also. The fremont experience website for ticket information link does not work.

I just received the same offer and I will be in Vegas anyway so I'm booking that one.
Nothing from CET for me either for Vegas NYE but my monthly free play offers are in the 30 to 50 dollar range -- even though with one weekend of play in AC 2 weekends ago I became Seven Stars again -- so I don't expect to receive anything. But, I'm still looking forward to a great trip. I'll enjoy camping out at my home base, spending some time next door at V/P and hopefully spending the night on December 28th at Circa, the first night the hotel is open. Hope to hear from my host at The D today about that possibility.

I have 2 offers from CET that I saw in the app. First is 5 nights $500 freeplay/$200 dining At any property. Second is 5 nights at CP/Flamingo/Paris, NYE dinner for 2 and $500 freeplay with an opportunity to play up for more. For some reason I don’t get emails from them anymore so I don’t know what the hurdles are

I have no official offers, but can see the dates come up as comped for both MLife and CET for me. If this helps out any low roller...
