I was in Vegas last week and walking down the walkway at The Linq. Many healthy young people riding scooters. When one woman almost hit me, she stood up and yelled at me for not watching where I was going. I also saw 12 scooters in a row coming up the driveway of the Bellagio as a large family had a scooter for each one in their party. You would think after being stuck inside for months people would want to walk more.

With all the crazy drivers in Vegas, I'm surprised that none of those scooter gangs have gotten run over or caused a bad accident ...but I can see it happening, if this continues., not to mention pedestrians getting run over by these scooters too. :rolleyes2:

It's just part of the "it's what I want to do, who cares?' generation. When was the last time you saw someone under 30 check traffic before crossing a street? I know I can't remember. Fortunately, it'll probably be a thing of the past in a year or two. Until then......

A simple law requiring that anyone using one of these on a sidewalk or street is required to have a state disability card or be fined would end it immediately...similar to people that have handicap license plates, the state mails you a card to keep in your wallet that shows you're registered as disabled by a physician.

Do we know if they were all able bodied? It still doesn't excuse them riding on the street.

I'd like to know why LVMPD isn't doing anything about this scooter joyriding. First it was through the casinos, then on the strip sidewalks and thoroughfares. Now riding along with traffic?

Probably not DUI but certainly they could be charged with something like reckless endangerment.

If I had to guess, I would think that it has something to do with COVID-19 being more dangerous for the demographics that utilize these scooters. With a lack of people from that demographic not going to Vegas (either due to them not traveling or them dying), I'm assuming that the companies that rent these scooters out figured they'd rather offer their services to anyone than go out of business. Hence, the scooter advertisements like the ones shown in this website. Like with everything in this world with no controls/regulations/enforcement, they have become open to the abuse that we see now.
