I'm thinking about going to Vegas during the week but would need to work a few days out there. I know the Cal has good internet in their rooms but does anyone know about other downtown hotels? Mainly the D, GG, 4Q or Binions. I don't need blazing fast internet but enough to not be kicked off my VPN constantly. I'm willing to pay for the faster WiFi too if need be. Thanks for any info.

Four Queens internet is the fastest I've experienced downtown. I occasionally work from a downtown hotel room and I do speedtests from time to time. At Four Queens I got 52.58 Mbps on speedtest.net. At The Cal I got 3 Mbps. At El Cortez I got 1.68. At The D I had to use my phone as a hotspot because the internet wouldn't connect and their outsourced IT department was useless.

Verifying what jimbo posted about the Cal & the El-Co... the D & GG? I've been able to connect, but my speed-tests run comparable to the Cal/El-Co...about 1.5 to 2.5.
Now, those are the numbers in the rooms... the wi-fi in the D's lobby/casino floor seems to be much quicker....not sure why....maybe I was picking up 4Queens' wifi! ;)

Wow sounds like I need to stay at 4Q for the best internet. I wonder if Binion's would be comparable as well. The property is older so maybe not. Thanks for the info on this!

4Q is definitely the best wifi downtown. I worked remotely from there last week and never had any problems. Funny how 4Q has great wifi with no resort fee, while the wifi at Caesars Palace is painfully slow.

The only rooms at Binions opened last year, so the wifi should be pretty modern. It's not a place I personally would stay because they only opened the rooms in the oldest part of the property and have a sort of haunted hotel theme.

4 Queens does charge for wifi.

I've stayed at Hotel Apache but never checked the WiFi speed. I ended up booking 4Q for three nights and the Cal for three nights. I'll have to start checking the speed when I travel

I have played pokemon go under wifi on my old phone that requires wifi to use for catching pokemon and raiding raid bosses uptown (mlife) and downtown (all have free wifi). No issues except some spotty areas where it says gps signal not found. Searching the internet though is really good, but pokemon go is the toughest and have to figure out the right areas that have the strongest signal for the game. I know if pokemon go works in all the casinos, then defiantly the internet will work.

I hate it when the internet gets defiant, acting all entitled and such.

I've worked from the D, Plaza, and Four Queens. The D and Plaza were OK - I could mostly connect through my VPN, but it would kick me off periodically throughout the day. I ended up using my wireless hotspot a bit to bridge the gap. Four Queens - I've had great connectivity - stable VPN, fast speeds. I did a video call this morning with no hiccups. Honestly it seems better than my home internet.
