So I've certainly enjoyed a couple of cows worth of steak in LV. Heading back in a couple of weeks and wanted to get some advice for a great Steak downtown. We've hit the Steer a bunch, Hugo's and Andiamo once, but most of our red meat has been enjoyed on/around the strip.

We wanted to hit a spot we've never been before and downtown. With the Top of Binion's closed we are looking at either Oscar's or Vic n Anthony's. Looks like Oscars certainly has the nod for history and maybe Vic n Anthony's a better meal? Any one have any thoughts on which will be a better all around dining experience for a group of guys or is there a sleeper out there we're missing? Also it looks like Oscars may have a smaller menu than they did in the non Covid era.

I haven't been there recently, but this is an ongoing issue -- many restaurants have cut back on their menus (Carbone, in particular, does not have many of the dishes I like).

I vote with my wallet, and since I'm always comped at Andiamo's, that's my go-to steak place downtown, until I get an FGF to go with me to Hugo's Cellar.

I certainly enjoyed Oscar's when I ate there, I'd recommend it to anyone. Beef, Booze and Broads... I mean come on

I have eaten at Oscars and Andiamos. Imho Andiamos and it isn't even close. Redwood would fit in between the 2.

Vic & Anthony's and Andiamo if I'm DT and want the best meal. I'd say Andiamo squeaks it, as they have the Italian options on top.

I've only eaten at Hugo's & Redwood of the other spots, and not yet tried Oscar's or Binion's.

Vic & Anthony's is my personal favorite for food. Hugo's has an old school feel that can't be replicated.

I also recommend Triple George Grill which is across from the Grand. Solid place for a meal but often overlooked due to location.

Andiamo is my favorite, but Oscars is probably runner up. The dining area is really cool!

If I was taking a date and she was into old school Vegas, I'd go for Hugos.

I always forget about Oscars, but 'sayhitomatthew' did a YouTube video there a few months back, and reminded me it's a must try.

Of the Downtown Steak Houses, I say Vic and Anthony's. They have the best quality meat of any DT property IMO. Top notch service. Andiamo's is pretty good too.

For the price, the Tomahawk steak is pretty good if sharing (or you haven't eaten in all day). As for non-steak, I'd recommend the Cioppino. You will not leave Andiamo's hungry.

Third the Tomahawk. I had that the first time I went there, and it was delicious.

Definitely Oscar’s over Vic/Anthony - better food, better view, much better ambiance. Good happy hour too, pre-Covid at least!

Can I ask a question. I tried adiamo steak and it has a pool of butter or whatever sauce drenching the steak. Did I order the wrong thing ?

My opinion is slanted because we are comped, but both Redwood and Second Street Grill have good steaks and a fine old Vegas atmosphere. But...last I heard, neither has reopened because of virus.

It’s their signature zip sauce, and IMO is delicious. I am not a fan of sauce on a steak, but the zip sauce seems to do nothing but compliment the steak. You can certainly request for it to be excluded.

Yea I like steak grilled as is. The charr of the salt and black pepper should be enough for any quality meat

Normally wouldn’t argue with that, but I’m a huge fan of the zip sauce. All good!
