Yeah, heard about this when I was out there last. It's bumping the dates of the Member Guest

Also, I like how they recycle outdated information. The rack rate for a round of golf is now $750 since at least the start of the year, and I also don't know about the personal invite from Wynn prior to 2000 bit as I had golfed it numerous times prior to that, and was never "personally " invited, lol.

When I was out there 2 weeks ago for a golf tourney and heard about this, I insta volunteered to be a forecaddie, extra helping hand, whatever, to be able to see how the Pro's play the same course I play so often. I know the lines they take off the tees are so much different, it's almost like a different course for them.

Seeing the pros take on a course you know well is, indeed, eye-opening.

New course record during one of the rounds? Shoot under a 63?

Course record was 65 by DJ, then the head pro's son who was a UNLV golfer and now competes on the Korn Ferry Tour (just finished tied for 2nd yesterday), shot a 64, then last year another UNLV golfer shot a 63.

I'm excited for this, A) to see more of Shadow Creek, and B) for Vegas to host the PGA Tour in back-to-back weeks. I applaud the ingenuity -- similar to what the Champions Tour is doing at Big Cedar Lodge right now, the LPGA playing two tournaments in a row in Toledo, and of course, Muirfield Village hosting back-to-back tourneys earlier in the summer.

With no fans at pga events, does that open up more courses to be used for events since you do not need all the infrastructure of parking, concessions, bathrooms, grandstands, etc?

The load on a course is lessened immensely.

most definitely in the case of Shadow Creek. This course was not built for fans, and would not have the room to accommodate all the necessary things to hold a PGA event with fans

This would really be interesting they held it in August, when it's 117 degrees.

And it's not just the elbow room, it's flow. That's where Shadow would fail (in a good way).

The LPGA will get a bit of a taste when the ANA comes up early next month. Not in the teens in most cases but we've seen the '00s and '10s often that time of year.

The pants-are-warmer thing is mostly an old wive's tale. Now we might prefer the feel of shorts, but pants are not inherently hotter and in fact can block heat-causing infrared. The material is all-important. (Same with blocking cancer-causing UV.)

Shadow Creek closes for overseeding from August 31 - Oct 10th or so, right before this tourney. The PGA gets to take over the course for the 3 weeks prior to the event as they have control over course conditions - size of the rough, width of the fairways, speed of the greens, etc

The caddies probably suffer the most. Those bags are big.

Does that hold true for Augusta? Hard to imagine the PGA making things better than the course normally is.

I had a friend who went to the Masters (as a fan) a couple of years ago. Someone challenged him to try to find a weed, on any of the fairways. He said he couldn't find a single one.

I think Augusta is it's own tournament held outside of the PGA thumb. The Master's gets to fit into the PGA schedule because of it's history, but I do not think the PGA gets to influence this tournament like it does the others. I am sure @ken2v can shed more light on this
