Thanks for this thread, just read start to finish in one sitting!

You wrote somewhere that the food/beverage/smoking mask exception is a huge hole in all of the safety policies and you're 100% correct. More so on the casino and resort floor than anywhere else. Of course the eating and drinking exception has to exist because you have to eat and drink. But too many people are walking around taking this as an excuse to keep their mask off for 10-15 minutes because "Oh, I have a drink!!!" It puts the staff in an awkward spot of having to be mask police, but it's something they have to do if they want a truly safe environment.

That, and prohibit smoking in all properties.

Also great to read your college ball references in here. I'm a UConn guy - two big ones for my guys at your expense in 11 and 14. :)

The driver who picked me up from LAS Thursday night is a UConn guy! We had a fun conversation about basketball and the players we have seen at Wynn.

I expected to see people with their masks off at the gaming tables and slots under the stated exceptions. It was about what I expected. When the casino was busier, staff was more insistent about people pulling up their mask unless they were taking a sip of their drink. But slower times, especially at the slots, people were just sitting there with masks dangling below their chins. The restaurant exception is the real problem. its even worse at the bars that serve food.

The tower suite lounge is a good example. I walked past it dozens of times and rarely saw people wearing masks. Since they serve small plates, they are essentially a bar that gets to remain open. So people just piled into it to drink and sit around with a mask off. The worst example was a group of six younger people I saw yesterday. I was headed up to my room and saw the six of them piled on one another (literally, two of them were sitting on laps even though there were enough seats for everyone), talking loudly, and maybe two off them had drinks sitting in front of them on the table. No masks at all. Worse, when i came back down half an hour, all six of them were still there sans masks. Even though the outdoor seat at Mizumi seemed reasonably safe, if I were going back soon, I would plan carryout or room service for every meal. I didn't anticipate that nobody would wear a mask at all in restaurants and lounges

Thanks for a great report with wonderful pictures and details of what it is like to visit right now. I just got a Jet Blue promo from BOS to LAS for $51 each way through November. So tempting! Not sure I’m willing to tempt fate just yet, but sure do like reading about others’ adventures.

PSA: On bands, bricks, and straps in Hip-Hop lyrics.

Having worked in banks and being a rap fan, the
"Bands" are the bands they put around a 100 bills of any currency.
Rappers, being the ballers they are, are generally referring to 100s, so $10k is a yellow (they are color coded) band.
A "brick" would be in drug dealer realm talk, or the stack of 10 bands, looks real nice holding 5 in each hand in your video.

"Straps":. :eek:those are guns, you probably don't want to run around the casino bragging about your strap.
maybe derivative of having your six shooter strapped to your side.

usage: "These five bands in my hand are better than the brick in the bush.;)"

and "Birds"? I think those are uncut kilos, and another lesson.

oh, also great TR, :clap:super informative, and I loved the way you adapted to all the conditions : dining, crowds, and gambling.

If you ask me, you need to go into this "new Vegas" with that flexible attitude, and shift up with the tides.

So when you walk from your chair to the pool you have to have a mask on. So when you enter the pool who do you give your mask to?? Or do you just toss it on the ground next to the pool.
When getting out of the pool do they have someone giving out masks for you to wear back to your chair?
So if you are sitting in your chair outside 6 feet away from anyone they want you to wear a mask.
You comes up with these dumb rules as they make no sense.

I think every chair on the pool deck is no more than twenty feet from a pool. So nobody was being asked to wear a mask as they walk up to the pool. In fact, the rules signs specifically said don't wear your mask in the pool. But of course there are plenty of other place to walk on the pool deck other than the water. That's when they want you to wear your mask and that is sensible. So is wearing a mask while sitting in your chair and not eating or drinking

@UKFanatic - how did I miss this, we should have met up for some NBA games. We were there on the exact same dates! Oh well, next time!

Hoping to visit in December and that will be my plan as well. Normally, for my solo trips I don't care much about the room but for the next one it will definitely be a suite with accommodations for dining. Thanks for sharing your observations, I'm disappointed but not surprised.

You could eat indoors though if you go to Long Island. I was at Roosevelt Field Mall yesterday, and we were eating inside. So, if you live in Brooklyn, like myself, a 30 minute ride will get you a meal indoors.

UKfanatic...I'm being a bit of a smart ass here, but would you have taken 6 points in the final four of April, 2015 versus UW?

lol, I thought I wrote a TR or at least posted a pic (neither of which I can find now), but I actually took Wisconsin in the first half of that game (and won). But the end of that game, what a huge frustration! Where to begin!!! Cal plays the twins down the stretch (who were solid players) because they were the more senior guys (even though everyone knew Ulis and Booker were better by that point). And then Harrison keeps trying to break down his defender in the lane instead of just dumping the ball down to Towns (who UW could not stop at all). Throw in the UW shot clock violation basket that was not called, and that loss really hurts. Morseo because the Cats would have demolished Duke that year. That was the final everyone outside of your state wanted to see. That UK team had ten NBA players on the roster!!! Just a gigantic letdown

Some of the other threads on craps minimums post-covid just reminded me to post something I forgot to mention while I was out there:

The Wynn craps minimums were all over the place! When i arrived Thursday night, I walked to the cage to pick up my shopping gift cards and noticed the table closest to the cage was a $100 minimum. The cynical part of me immediately assumed that the higher fee to play was because there was two couples standing at one end of the table (social distancing be dammned!) where both ladies were with much older guys and the women looked like they had just been poured into their skimpy dresses (or, exactly what you would see any Saturday night at the Wynn pre-pandemic). I cynically thought that because by the time I got my gift cards, I saw that those couples were gone and the minimum had been reduced to $50. There were also two other tables open that night at $50 and $25.

By Friday morning, the same three tables were open and all were $10 minimums. by 3pm Friday, there were two $25 tables, a $100 table, and a reserved table. I don't recall checking the minimums on Saturday, but I would assume they were the same as Friday night since the casino was busy most of the day. I think they also had six total tables running Saturday afternoon and evening. The table in the HL room behind the baccarat bar was never open all weekend

NY'er here. In NY, we're allowed indoor dining "for those who feel comfortable". Many will choose to dine only outside such as myself. Indoor dining does not include bars so you must be seated and eating "food". Everyday, I read new restaurants and bars losing their license for gross violations so they are trying to enforce it. NJ does not allow indoor dining at all. In Atlantic City, the casinos are open but one can only gamble while in the casino area with mask on "at all times". No smoking, drinking, eating while gambling. If you need to smoke, or drink or eat, you must go outside. In NY, casinos are not open at this time but things are slowly opening up more. We have bowling alleys, and fitness centers reopening. If you're in the shade, sitting outside is pleasant during the day and very pleasant in the evenings/night time.

Yep, you can eat indoors in most of the state, including now where I am in Buffalo but I won't be for a while. Take out and outdoor dining for me, with hopefully at least couple more months of good weather!

Long Islander here. Haven't been inside any mall since. How was Roosevelt Field Mall? I need to go there to deal with a purchase and was planning on going during a weekday.

    .
I'm not surprised. And TR where I'm really impressed by the pics, it's always an iPhone. I can't see myself liking an iPhone for any other reason though.

Well I'm a bit happy that UK choked that year. We got a trip to the finals out of it! No way we would have shelled out the money for the championship if UK won.

And I did write a TR. Lol

Yeah, I agree with you. Right now we just order in at home mostly, since the heat and humidity of NYC makes it uncomfortable to eat outdoors. Can't enjoy myself, if you are sweating in the heat.
