I’m disappointed in the lack of enforcement. I’m also concerned about smokers. With the virus being airborne, I don’t want to be near someone voluntarily blowing and unmasked.

You are one of the smart ones. I plan to avoid people at all costs. I am an early riser even by eastern standards and plan to play from 4 or 5 am until I start to feel I’m getting crowded out. I can work anywhere so plan to spend the rest of the day working and eating take out. I’m in a slot tournament which is rather scary but I would hope they will have good distancing there. I’m always knocked out on the first round so not worried about repeated exposure.

My only anxiety now is obtaining enough water. I really don’t want to leave property to walk down the street or take an Uber shopping. I normally drink about 70 oz of water each day. Last few years I’ve had amazon prime now delivered but it has been a disaster last 2 trips with hotel requiring all deliveries to the business center and charging $25 fee. After all that they don’t have anyone to deliver it to my room. I may just have to bite the bullet and buy a bunch at the hotel shop.

Thanks for the great photos. Congrats on walking away with a strap +

If that is your plan, I think you can be reasonably safe. There are not many people gambling that early. The smokers fall into that ten percent of people pulling down their masks. Seen some of them at the slots and a few in the high limit, but not as ny as usual. Anytime I have seen a crowd in the casino, I have just kept walking. I know I can always play later when its less busy

C'mon now! You didn't fly all the way out there to spend it in the room! :poke:

Good luck either way. Sounds like it's been the trip you were looking for.

I know! And the smoke haze over the valley makes it kind of hard to enjoy the room view. But I am tired and a little rest before dinner is a good idea. I need energy to watch the frog show or Steve Wynn's balls (if you have been to SW, you know what I mean)

While I agree with your sentiment, if he is going to spend his time in a room in Vegas a Wynn Salon Suite is one of the best you could hope to stay in!

I'd do precisely the same thing, personally... taking my temperature daily as well. One week of moderate inconvenience far outweighs a lifetime of possible consequences for others to whom you might transmit it, IMO.

Two approaches I might suggest as a workaround...

    1. Tip a bartender or cocktail server a few extra bucks to give you a handful of those little water bottles. They're about 8 oz each, so you'd need close to ten of them. But if you ask for one with every drink you order on the floor (e.g., a Heineken, and a water or two waters), you could simply hoard them throughout the gaming day and get pretty close to that amount for just the cost of tips, which will likely be far lower than the gift shop price.

    2. Depending on how you're getting to the hotel from the airport, why not stop off at a grocery store on the way and get all the water you need and bring it up to your room? If physically moving a large quantity of water is the challenge, you might want to consider buying a hand truck like the one below ($30ish item as I understand it) to easily move it. I know this is a "tool of the trade" for frequent cruisers, to bring soda and bottled water on board as opposed to paying what it costs onboard.

Two more interesting posts and that's probably it for tonight.

As I lay on the couch, the sun finally broke through the smoke haze and started blinding me. So since I had to get up anyway to adjust the shades, i decided why not head down to the casino for one final round of play. So I found an empty BJ table. the other open table had a aplyer, his buddy, his gf, and their dog. From what I heard and what the dealers said after they left, they were exceptionally strange. Like, should I surrender my 12 against a dealer 16 strange!!! So glad I had my own table.

But it went poorly. Had 10k in purple chips in front of me. Won the first two hands and then went on a terrible streak. Dealer kept drawing to 21 or pushing my hand when I had a 20. It was just awful. I am down 7k at the table and decide to go all in with a 3k bet. Of course, it a split. I ask for a table mark to get the chips for the split and then one of the hands is a double. Ask for anothr 3k table mark and you know what happens next. Dealer draws to 21. So now I'm down 16k!! Argh.

Reach in my pocket, pull out one of the 25k chips, pay off the table markers, and start playing yellow chips. Very hortly, there is a new shoe. And tahnkfully its a good one! I eventually got it all back in one big hand. I get two 9s versus a dealer 8. I have $3500 in the circe and I split it. First split hand gets another 9. So what the hell, another split. So now I have $10,500 on the table and my hands end up being 19, 18 and 17. But the dealer busts! Needed that one. A couple hands later, I am up $500. I color up, leave the $500 as a tip and cash out for the trip!

Next post is also interesting, but not in a good way.

I had a dinner reservation at SW. I show up for the reservation, which I made a month ago and requested and confirmed an outside table. I look around the dining room. nobody is wearing a mask. Even the people just waiting for a table have already pulled theirs off. so I count myself lucky that I can eat outside where it should be a little safer.

The hostess then takes me to my table, which is .... inside! Not just inside. I think it was the most inside table in the entire freakin room, against the back wall! I politely reminded her that I had reserved an outside table. She said they could not accommodate that. I was a little peeved, but shrugged, said ok, and said I would cancel my reservation. I turn to leave and she asks me to wait a moment. She goes and talks to someone behind the hostess desk, comes back and says she can now seat me outside. WTF!! I'm actually more annyed now because I shouldn't have to threaten to leave to get that table. If it was available, they should have sat me at it originally!

But it turns out, its not really an outside table. its a table near the threshhold of the patio, but the four seats are still actually underneath the ceiling of the restaurant. Now I'm really annoyed. I politely tell her that this is not what my host reserved, I'm not comfortable, and I leave.

I stopped by the RFB lounge on my way back up to the room to complain. I'm not a complainer. I don't like doing that. but if SW is not delivering on guaranteed reservations, someone needs to fix the system. I tell my story to the staffer working the desk. She looks up my host name and i remind her that he is out sick and another host set everything up for me. She is empathetic and I hear her leave a vm for the host. There's no way I can get seating I am comfortable with at this time on a Saturday, so I headed back to the room.

I don't really want to complain here either. Hell, I am going home up almost 20k when I count the money I got back from CP. But if this info helps other VMBers, then that is good.

And so not to end the last night o the trip on a sour note, I decided to order room service (waiting on it now). And in the spirit of a nickname (can't recall if it was @shock or @royalflusher who came up with it) that I was given during a wild live TR at Bellagio a few years ago, I have ordered the caviar (and a cheese plate). So I pan to live it up, fancy caviar style, while I pack my bags and get ready for a pre-dawn flight. Thanks for reading along!

Thanks for the TR - it was a fun read for sure :) Congrats for ending up with a win  Here’s hoping they comp your room service tonight - after that utter fiasco at SW they really should :nono:

I don’t blame you one bit for being ornery here. This isn’t an inconvenience but rather, especially for those potentially compromised (I don’t know if you are but I mean more in general), a safety issue for many. Not a good look for this restaurant. Perhaps they’re doing fine now financially but all it takes is one social media blast and it’s a veritable nightmare for them, now more than ever.

My tolerance and level of cautiousness is pretty much exactly what yours are. I'm looking at only outdoor dining as well while in Vegas absent some rare exception, in which case I'm planning to do an early dinner seating if that means it's less crowded. As I mentioned in another post, there's a health and scientific-based reason why NYC, a good chunk of NJ and CT won't have indoor dining potentially for months and NYS as a whole, including even NYC, has an infection rate that is LESS than 1%.
I live alone and work from home so very much in a bubble of one. My caution is that I don't plan to visit my parents in Buffalo for at least 2 weeks after I've returned from Vegas and gotten another negative Covid test.
I fully support mask wearing and was wearing them long before my state required it. But, I do like the fact that with socially-distanced lounge chairs at Wynncore that you don't have to wear a mask while on your lounge chair, whether solo or with someone with whom you are sharing a hotel room.
