Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. I am really enjoying the pictures. A few years back we were in the early stages of planning a trip to Mt. Rushmore than never panned out. This TR has peeked my interest again. Keep em coming!

    Thanks for sharing.

Your fuel situation made me think you sputtered out on the side of the road. I remember driving through Wyoming (Rawlins area maybe) and seeing signs that read next fuel stop 100 miles

MR does have a visitor center. Also an exhibit area in the building on the walking trail below the faces. Was it closed because of COVID?

We love Crazy Horse. You might want to consider going for the Volksmarch which is normally held 2x per year. Walking to the top of CH is an unbelievable experience. That was the plan for our 5 year old grandson this year. Blast. Maybe next year lol. We normally stay in Deadwood or Rapid City. So much stuff to do out there. Took us tons of trips before we ever even drove thru Spearfish Canyon!

Notice the temp on my car dash...118. Lucky for me it's a dry heat!

Let me start by saying, I know this is going to come across as a negative report, but i am not trying to discourage anyone from visiting Vegas. The current situation in Vegas just doesn't lend itself to how i typically enjoy Vegas.
From the airport I went directly to Chinatown for lunch. My guess is 75% of the restaurants are closed or offering carry out only.

I know that bars are closed, but I tried the door at The Golden Tiki anyway, yep closed.

After lunch at a AYCE sushi restaurant, I found a laundromat. I packed light for a 10 day trip knowing I would need to do laundry
From ther it was on to the El Cortez to check in.
I will say slot and BJ gambling currently in Vegas is pretty much the same as pre pandemic. The big difference for me is VP. With bars closed, sitting at one one playing VP isnt possible and something I very much missed.
The whole "bars closed" is what really has made the trip a disappointment. I dont spend all day gambling, I love to sit at a bar (especially one outside) and people watch, play a little VP or just hang out i ended up at Mickie Finnz on Fremont last night. The sign when you walk in says you have to order food to drink alcohol, of course I wasnt hungry but ordered a pizza so I could sit down and have a few beers.

    Day 2 in Vegas.

Drove up to the My Charleston Lodge for lunch. The food is meh and the service is slooow, but what a view.

I left Mt Charleston at 12:30...this was the temp at 7,500 ft. When I got back to Vegas it was 110.

I always seek out dive bars in Vegas, unfortunately it's hard to find one open this trip. But a bar on my list, Huntridge Tavern, was open so I stopped in. Any place serving alcohol has to serve food, here is the extensive "food menu".

I played BJ for several hours last night. I bought in for $400...and at one time I was up $1,500 and playing black chips. I walked away totally hammerd and with 0 dollars.

    See you tomorrow.

Thank you for bringing back so many great memories for me. You did a LOT of traveling. We did all those things in three separate trips and loved every one of them. I agree with someone who said that the Million Dollar highway is a spectacular drive. I'm sorry you didn't get to ride the tram to the top of the Mt at RMNP. It's surreal up there. Yellowstone is our favorite NP and we've been to many. I'm glad you got to see many of the the natural wonders of the west, an opportunity not many will have. Have fun in LV.

I'm concerned that we haven't heard from Mzctbb since Friday. Hope you are well.

Vegas does that sometimes. Hopefully we will hear from the OP again soon.
