Remember when we saw online that one photo of Zion during the shutdown and everyone said "oh, he's in great shape coming back to the bubble!" Nope. He's fat and slow. He could be such a monster small forward if he would lose twenty or twenty-five pounds (reminds me of Larry Johnson before the back injuries). But he is easily over 280 right now and just gets winded too quickly

That is why they sit his ass down as the quarters are finishing , and he is complaining about playing time.

Totally agree. I caught a little of the game today against Memphis, and he honestly doesn't look like he can endure beyond several years in the league. The commentators were fawning over him, and while he definitely has the skills, he needs to lose some pounds.

My teenage son loves Zion. I tell him Zion needs to lose 30+ pounds or he’ll blow out his Achilles & have a very short career.

Zion has the body composition of my best friend. Problem is, my best friend played basketball in the late 90s, and is in his early 40s now. He has a license to weigh 265 at 6'4 lol

I think Portland is a very scary team. I see them taking the 8th seed out of the play-in (Zion-NBA conspiracy) tournament. I didn’t think Melo was capable of just catch & shoot. I’m used to his old man game: hold the ball, jab step, jab step, burn shot clock & then finally pull up for a mid range jumper. Hated watching that crap. But Skinny, Bubble Melo’s got game.

Zion seems clear when declaring his love for basketball (don’t forget he’s still under 20 yrs) but may very well be done. However, he will be a most comfortable done if he has a good money management team.
Wasn’t (can recall his name but maybe Oden) there a player just too big for his body to support it in the nba? Maybe Greg....from the Midwest somewhere and his body just broke down. Sorta sad but you get what you can guaranteed and hope for the best. Haven’t heard about his post basketball career lately.

There have been more than a few. Oden was the most recent. But there was also Sam Bowie (the player famously taken ahead of Jordan in the draft) and Bill Walton (the most famous example). Those three guys were all bigger than Zion and their legs and feet had problems supporting their frame in the long term. Zion has been injury prone, but some of that was just bad luck (like the college injury). He still has plenty of time to figure out the correct body type for his immense talent. I could see him converting some fat into muscle, slimming down ten or fifteen pounds, and trying to have a freight train body like Karl Malone or LeBron James. Or he could try and lose forty+ pounds and try to become a do it all wing like Scottie Pippen or Charles Barkley (in his Suns years, not his chubby Philly days). As long as he doesn't go the way of Oliver Miller, its all good. He's still an awesome raw talent, with great quickness and touch for his size (and awesome leaping for any size!). But right now, he just can't keep up throughout long stretches of the game. If his team is eliminated next week, then he could try and go into a hardcore training regimen for three months to prepare for the next season. If he doesn't, then we're probably looking at 2022 before there is any chance he reaches his potential
