The airport is Gulfport, about 30 minutes. You can do the interstate or cruise along the gulf for the scenic view.

 

Grabbed some coffee and sandwiches at 10am made a quick stroll through the casino to see what tables were for y’all.

Thursday Morning:

Craps: $15 min (full table)
BJ: $25 min (kind of full- 3 tables open)
Mississippi Stud: $10 min (1 of 3 players)
3 Card Poker: $15 min (0 Of 3 players)
4 Card Crazy: $10 min (0 Of 3 players)
Roulette: $15 min (0 players)

weekday morning early afternoon casino is pretty empty. In the evening the slots aren’t all full, but it has more traffic every 2 machines in a bank are off. Our slot play has been mixed at beau, we did a lot better I would say at hard rock.

We explored the pool area today at beau, it wasn’t a very positive experience. All the chairs are close together, so there is no distance between strangers. 60+% of chairs were “reserved” for a cost. All the “free chairs” were occupied with people laying around with no masks right together. Paid chairs were empty but they wanted $50 per chair.

Asked if there was a way to the actual beach since I’m not willing to pay $100 us to sit in a chair honestly. Towel /pool attendance were pretty rude when I asked how much the chairs costed like I had I convinced them. We were instructed to go out the door where hogan Diaz is for the beach. We went out there but that’s pretty strange.

Am I missing something on getting to the beach? Not impressed.

 

I'm really surprised about the minimums! Even on a Thursday, min at BJ is $25? I canceled my Wynn/Bellagio trip last week & may hop the junket to the Beau in October. I hope things get better by then & would like to see more tables open!

swung over to Harrahs for some steak and shake....

Played a $20 in a old slot and won! (Low limit $.15 max bet on a Nickel machine.. got 1000 nickels!!

 

Went back to treasure bay. Wife had $100 free play, and I played some $3 Mississippi stud, and $5 Pai Gow poker.

table limits were:

$5 3 card poker

 

Finished the night out at hard rock and beau.

Hard rock was fairly busy. Tables were high.

Craps, BJ were $25 min.
3 card $ Mississippi stud were $15 min.
Roulette in main pit was $25 min
Roulette near bar opened around 930 pm and was $15 min.

Headed back to the beau since wifey was very drunk, slipped downstairs for a bit from 1130p-130a

Played some $15 BJ since we head home tomorrow. Made $240 on a few shoes and bounced.

Summary of our stay at Beau Rivage.

First Impression:

Beau Rivage is a beautiful hotel and most of the staff are very friendly. I would chose to stay here in the future if the price was right again. This hotel is located in a great location being near the hard rock. The Beau Rivage has all kinds of guests there, but seemed to have a more mature crowd of 40+.

Check in:

The Beau Rivage was very laid back feeling and the rooms are very nice for a basic room. The rooms were clean upon arrival, and checkin was very friendly and speedy. The gardens inside are flawless, and really set the vibe. Valet Parking was not operational due to C-19, which was a slight negative since we parked in the self parking area and had to drag out 5 days of luggage from the parking garage after a 7 hour drive. Elevators were fast, and we were in our room from parking to getting ready in about 30 minutes.

Dining at Beau:

Each day we stayed we grabbing a small breakfast bite to eat at the “Roasted Bean” which was exactly what we were looking for. They have a almond coffee which I found was perfect, their egg sandwiches were disappointing. Great place for a Bagel & Coffee or a pastry & coffee. They were fairly quick, and very busy. A couple can have a quick bite for about $20-$25 here.

This was the only dining we did at the Beau since at other times we wanted to eat after 10pm there were basically no options except the terrace cafe which we were not feeling. There were other dining options available for dinner, but be sure to know how to do QR code’s since menus seem to be a thing of the past.

Pool:

Arrive early, or pay a premium for a chair to lay in the sun: This is where we were disappointed in the Beau heavily. There was no signage really displaying anything about cost to rent chairs, and when I inquired I received pretty low customer service with the indication of who actually cares how much it costs. The pool size is medium, and basic. There is a hot springs/hot tub as well. This situation all made me feel uncomfortable because of C-19 and I am not overly afraid of C-19. Something just said to me this is a poor idea. There was no social distancing or mask wearing (wouldn’t expect masks).

Pool Hours are from 10am-6pm currently.

Gaming:

Lots of choices of slots, and some good choices of table games. Obviously C-19 has the industry in a strange place. There were an ok amount of tables open, but mostly your standard games. I was disappointed to not see an active Pai Gow Poker table open at any point in my trip while at the Beau. Tables were elevated cost when we first arrive but started to level out mid week. When I finally caved to playing a $15 BJ game I had a lot of fun playing.

The two BJ games I sat in for had dealers who were friendly and professional. You sit in the little plexiglass divider booths, and when you leave a staff member (often a suit from the pit) cleans the area you were at. When a person leaves they throw a card out showing to wait for sanitizing.

Slots were clean, the payback was ok and the selection was good.

Drinks:

Drink service was poor at the Beau at the slots on all 3 times we played. Drink service at tables was much better late night Thursday. Definitely come with a buzz, we went without any drink service for at least 1.5+ hours at a time. Drinks were very small that were served. Again not sure what C-19 has done to this segment.

Checkout

Checkout was fast and painless, no extra charges of any kind.

Overall:

I would rate our stay at a 7 of 10. Rooms and hotel are beautiful, and the comp offer was fantastic ($120 for 4 nights). Location is great and the hotel is very nice. I was disappointed in the consistently high table limits, and the pool. We would return on a comp offer, but I probably would not book this hotel at the $150+ a night retail due to the high minimums not meeting out lower level budget. For this trip we brought $800 to gamble which was $200 a day for each person, and about $500 for food/drinks. Overall our trip was less than 2k budget, and we left with $500 of our $800 bankroll. We will be heading to Vegas in October, but I am considering seeing if I can change the trip to Biloxi since C-19 probably will be still disrupting entertainment.

I believe that you need to give it a try in non-covid days. Craps table limits even on the weekend you can usually find a $10 or $15 craps table, not sure on the other games. I have always enjoyed the Terrace cafe, the food is always good, sometimes service is hit or miss. Usually the buffet is open and its worth a shot..

 

This is what I have heard that Biloxi was fairly low limit friendly. Honestly the following limits were what I was hoping to find at the Beau during off hours... such as 10am or 1am and I’m not sure if My expectations were false.

I was hoping to find the following during day time hours, and non peak. I understand I would never find low limits during a Friday night at 8pm.

Roulette: $10 min
BJ- $10 min
Craps- $10 min ($15 is ok if I’m just going to play a pass line or DP bet with maybe 1x odds... never can do the math for $15 min bets for some reason in my head after a few drinks).
Pai Gow Poker- $10-$15 min
Mississippi stud/3 Card Poker- $5 min

Is this what it used to be like pre covid? I know the limits have to be higher since there are only 3 players now instead of 5.

Table minimums have gone up at least $5. A $5 table is now $10 and so on.
The Beau is generally on the high end of tables along the coast if not the highest. Palace, Boom Town and Treasure Bay are on the low end.

 

I think those are ridiculously high minimums for Biloxi too.....Does the casino make more money with a "full" (3 or 4 players now?) table and $5 minimum or $25 table that's empty? Somebody making these decisions is an idiot.... and just because a table has a $5 minimum doesn't mean that everyone at it is playing $5...

 

It’s just supply and demand right now. If you have people wanting to play and you can only handle 1/2 as many people than the limits will probably go up.

Was in Tunica a few weeks ago and the limits were higher and the craps tables were still packed.

 

I totally never understand either the logic, but I’m sure it makes sense somehow. When I play $5 min BJ I end up with average bets at about $15. I chase positive streaks since BJ is such a streaky game.

I am sure a table of $25 players is more profitable since they would buy in for $500 most likely at least to deal with variance. I don’t mind $10 BJ tables, $15 is scary for me since I’ll only throw down $100 and see if I catch a streak.

I like buying in a $10 with $200-$250, and a $5 table with $120. I play to win 50% profit or lose 50%. I’m a conservative gambler, so I’m not a big money maker for a casino probably. I like to re gamble winnings on the roulette wheel or craps like a fool though! I call it a win if I leave even or up a few bucks.

Thanks for the report. My wife and I have decided to cancel our Vegas trip and drive to Biloxi. We are staying at the Beau.

 

Many thanks for the writeup. Biloxi is up there for me in casino destinations to visit, and I very much enjoyed the details you included!

 

When I stayed at Beau in June, they had (6) tables all running at $25 and they were all full all the time at night. They never went below 25 when I was there and there was almost always a wait to play. They just had fewer tables open off peak (edit - that was craps. Most of the table games never went below 25 when I was there though, and there werent a lot of empty seats)

 

Was at the Beau last week, Tuesday-Friday. 2-3 bj tables out of shoe at $15. 2-3 with CSM at $15. 3 card poker was $15 at both variety of game. DD pitch was $25 and up. Don’t play craps, but think I saw $15 and up with 2 games going. All bj I saw was 3:2 and DAS.

As a side note, Palace casino was $15 for DD pitch if that is of interest to anyone.
