Watching the webcam from Earthcam and the mass of humanity on Fremont St. is unbelievable. It looks like any other Saturday. Street performers, thousands of people.

I want Fremont St. to be there next year when I feel comfortable to return. Please, everyone be safe.

Fremont and Vegas will be there when you are ready. Consider Fremont St. as the "cheap eats" of Vegas: A fun place to be and you don't have to spend a lot of money to have it!

EDIT: That was mostly about the crowds. Mods, feel free to take this down, but at the risk of editorializing, come on, people. This is why I'm barely leaving my condo...

People are wearing masks and such. It is not as bad as you think it is. Do not get paranoid. Paranoia will come back to hunt you. I keep telling my dad that. My mom and I went to vegas end of June, no virus. We went to local casinos a few times already, no virus. I live in Los Angeles CA. We take care of ourselves and we take over counter supplements as well to keep us healthy and strong. If we were going to have the virus, we would have had it already but we dont.. Take care of yourself, careful around others, make sure they have a mask on or stay away if someone doesn't, etc.Eat healthy, exercise. All you need.

I have read an article that only like 123 people have been linked to catching the virus in vegas. Look at how many visitors they have per day there!.

@SoCalMon I so agree! I didn’t think twice about coming to California or Vegas. I wear a mask, I wash my hands, exercise, and take my vitamins. As a nurse I continue to stress the importance of “self-care” through all of this so we don’t go crazy! It’s important to continue to live just do so responsibly ;)

Preach, sister. I'm as paranoid as they come and all-in on most of the restrictions. I do fundamentally believe that there's a certain amount of risk in daily life, and it's not good for our collective mental health to stay inside 24/7 (I live in a 1-bedroom condo and I'd been close to losing it before things opened up a little). But let's be grown-ups here.

Agreed! We just need to find things to do and places to go where the risks are minimized. I keep taking food to eat in a nearby park, just going on drives, anything to get me out of the house to provide a little distraction and variety. Went to a local casino a couple times and once it seemed way too busy so I just left immediately.

I do hope for Vegas' sake things don't get much worse because a second shutdown would be awful for all involved. Unfortunately a few irresponsible people can ruin things for everyone.

This chart is extremely misleading because of how they tabulate the data. They don't count cases by day the test results came in, but on the symptom onset date, which means that testing results in the last couple of weeks can be severely undercounted.

A better source is the Nevada Independent which is doing positive tests by day. https://thenevadaindependent.com/coronavirus-data-nevada

I post the numbers every day in our COVID Information thread here - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/coronavirus-covid-19-information.171570/

Here is the current case graph, including the 7 day average.

    cases.JPG

I prefer to look at a different metric, the 7 day average of the positivity ratio. It gives a better picture as it's not as dependent on the number of people tested daily.

    tests.JPG

Ideally, that percentage rate would average under 5% if the virus were being well controlled.

    percent.JPG

Today the percent positive was 13% and the average is 10.4%.

Nevada is currently averaging about 1000 new positive cases every day.

Seems like people that work from home are terrified to check the mailbox while those of us who are "essential" and working in the public realm take the necessary precautions and live life as normally as possible. Will say if I were 65+ prob wouldnt leave the house much.

I was in Vegas over the 4th July for six days after driving a cpl days both ways from Portland and the ONLY place I felt nervous or refused to go to was the FSE!!! My wife and I started to walk it Saturday night about 6:00PM, after hanging around fremont East, and it was starting to get busy and most of the people had a mask but also most weren’t covering their faces or had it down around their chins, no social distancing at all, singing w/o masks and smokers everywhere, people with their foot long drinks, a typical weekend night imo. We went about 100 feet in thru security and I said the hell with it, I was out of there. Walked the strip several times, hung out a lot in the casinos, played who knows how many hours of BJ but I drew the proverbial line on the FSE...

I'm getting quite tired of it. There is a small minority of users here who seem determined to break the rules and derail these threads. Fortunately the warning system is working. A few people already have lost their access, and there are quite a few people who are nearing the points threshold and need to decide if they want to play by the rules or leave.

I understand that a moderated board isn't for everyone. This one is moderated. If that's going to be a problem, you should probably find somewhere else, more to your tastes.

And with that, another thread is closed. And again, this is why we can't have nice things. :rolleyes2:
