A source tells TMZ Regis died Saturday morning after suffering a heart attack at his home in New York -- although, we have not confirmed that with the family at this point.

Monday there is a re-run or as the networks would say an encore performance of Celebrity Jeopardy Carol Burnett, Regis Philbin, Donna Mills are the 3 playing the game.

RIP Reeg!!! Ironic he died of a heart attack. After the procedure he was a champion for cardiac health. Soon after he was on the Letterman show telling Dave it saved his life. I don't recall the exact exchange, but he figured Dave would do well to see a cardiologist himself. Letterman did the next day and next stop was surgery for a bypass. From that point, whenever Philbin was a guest, Dave always said he saved his life. He was probably right.

I really liked him. His LIVE was ground breaking. He seemed so real.

I loved Kathie Lee less but she did have chemistry with him. He even made Kelly Ripa look good and she had no talent...and boy, is it showing now.

Darn, sad to hear :( I almost got onto WWTBAM when I was 18 (back when they had the 1-900 number to play the qualifying game), and I am not ashamed to admit his sartorial choices influenced my senior prom outfit  RIP Reeg
