We just got our first round of drinks and put apps in. The band is just setting up in the background.

Well we finished dinner and drinks and just waddled our way back to Hard Rock. I feel like I just ate thanksgiving dinner.

A quick trip up to the room to freshen up and mix up some more drinks then down to the floor. Mrs Wallew started well on a new Motown slot then took a nose dive.

Love me some Harry’s, great spot and that courtyard is perfect for dining, the sun is behind the Dennis tower.

Gotta hit Bally’s Beach Bar for a cocktail.

Sorry for no updates last night it was an epic event of losing at everything at everything. Also my wife went on almost a half hour roll at the craps table and only made $200 because this happened when I decided I needed a break and went for a walk on the boardwalk.

So we were playing craps last night at Hard Rock. Table was choppy. I slowly lost and the Mrs was staying even. Her theory on craps is that she plays 6, 8 and the field.( don’t ask I’ve tried to explain to her the flaws with this. After 20 years of marriage I know to just let her do her thing if she is having fun).

After I bust out I decide that I need a break from the losing and take a walk out to the boardwalk. Apparently right after I walked away the dice came to my wife. She went on almost a half hour roll and hit all of the numbers for the ATS except the 11. The woman next to my wife told me that she never saw someone roll that long and just kept rolling almost all 6s and 8s. The guy on the other side of my wife made so much that he tipped her $25 after she finally sevened out and told my wife that she was the best roller he saw all weekend.

Needless to stay it was nice that my wife made a few hundred but really frustrating that she herself or with the help of the other players at the table didn’t capitalize on the great roll.

Today is a different day and we will be here til around lunchtime. Hoping Lady Luck can give us a little love before we head home.

    The Sunday summary

Shortly after my post this morning ended up Running into Hammie this morning on the boardwalk. I went outside for a cigarette break as he was riding his bike by. We chatted for a while. It was very nice see a VMB friend even if it was for 10 minutes.

The wife and I played a little today. Luck was a little better today and let us win back a small portion of what we donated this weekend.

We had lunch today at the Hard Rock Cafe. Nothing special just nachos and burgers but food and service was good. We got to witness a table changeover while there. First a bus boy cleaned off the table then a second person comes buy and pretty much detailed the the table and chairs with disinfectant( we were very impressed by this)

The wrap up and final thoughts on AC under the current conditions

Is this a normal summer in AC? No. Does the city have all of the same offerings it usually does? NO. BUT if you are willing to come with an open mind and maybe change up your usual routine, there can still be a great time to be had.

    -Drinking
There are currently no free drinks to be had. Does it suck? Yes. For us that is not a deal breaker. Suck it up buttercup. Break open the change purse for a few cocktails or just mix your own. We and most other people we saw had zero issues getting a buzz or drinking on the floor( with the exception of playing tables)

    -Food
Can you sit down in your favorite restaurant. No. There are still many options if you make the best of it. Almost every place is open for take out and there are quite a few options open for al fresco dining. Unless you are a hardcore foodie with only the highest of standards I’m sure you can make do. If you come try to make reservations and if you can’t just plan to give your name on a wait list( just give extra time because waits can be long).

    Gambling
Not much has changed except some table limits have gone up a little but nothing tragic. Slots are still the same slots. Video poker is still the same video poker with the exception to bar tops being currently closed.

    -beach and boardwalk
Nothing has changed. You can still sit in the sand and enjoy the hot summer sun. You can still jump in the ocean and play in the waves. You can get up early and enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Yep, the boardwalk is still there also.

    -cleanliness and safety
Overall we never felt uneasy. Other then the beach bars and the steel pier crowds weren’t an issue. I would say as far as the general public went 60% of people were very careful, 30% made an effort to be careful and 20% of people do the bare minimum.( this seems to be on par with the general pubic in this part of the country)

As it pertains to Casino cleanliness and safety, Hard Rock wins this category hands down. After 3 days staying there I am down right impressed with their “Safe and Sound” protocols.( That comment is coming from someone who has done specialized medical construction in hospitals for 20 years)

Saturday we ventured down to Oceans for a little while. They also seem to be doing a very good job of cleanliness and safety. The sheer size of that place also is a big plus given the current pandemic. I would have little issue staying there.

Last and and definitely in last place was Caesars/Bally’s. Well they’re open. We did see a few cleaning people. When we went to Harry’s for dinner we entered through the boardwalk Park Place entrance. We encountered the same thing Smerrian did in his report. It was a busy Saturday and there were two security guys shooting the shit as people just walked by.( this is completely different then what you will encounter trying to get into Hard Rock or Oceans.) In the near future I may make a solo stop here by myself to gamble but if it is a couples trip we will probably not stay here until the covid situation improves.

All and all we had a great weekend. We had loose plans and went into it with an attitude of being ready to roll with the punches. I feel as long as you take this attitude AC can still be a great escape even under the current conditions.

One last thing even if it’s not politically correct.

The breast summer ever in AC.

If you visit AC this summer, be ready to see way more than you may want to on the boardwalk and beach. We saw more T&A walking around then we could even image. Don’t get your hopes up though. We wish we didn’t see about 80% of it. Apparently the current trend is for women of all sizes to wear clothes and bathing suits more suited to a 16 year old girl then the 200lb+ full figure woman that they really are. We even saw a few 300lb women in thongs.

Mrs Wallew thinks that the police need to start handing tickets out for excessive side boob, under boob and overflow.

One of the highlights of this weekend was people watching. More so then either of us can ever remember in AC and we’ve both been coming here since our parents brought us as little kids.

Given the current covid situation, one of the best things we can do is try to relax and have a good laugh( sometimes you have to laugh on the inside so no one hears you). Come on down to AC for a quick trip, make or buy a large cocktail and just take a nice stroll on the boards. It may be just what the doctor ordered.

This looks delicious!!!!! In all my trips to AC I have never dined at Harry's. Will definitely do so when I am there next month!! I will just bring my newish Keurig and my Nutrisystem breakfast bars to eat breakfast in my room if I am otherwise not dining out for breakfast.

It was great to see you again and catch up. Really liked your TR as you turned lemons into lemonade, being flexible is the key. Great observations when it came to which casino is executing its cleanliness plan.

As far as breast summer, for me its been the summer of the inverted tush triangle. Lots of a$$ cheeks hanging out and I can absolutely say its been more this year than last.

May I recommend the Dollar Store where St. James Place meets the boardwalk? Lots of mirror sun glasses to help mask one's stare.

Thanks @hammie. Running into you Sunday morning was an awesome surprise! Actually, before I realized it was you, I was thinking “who is this crazy person riding their bike along at Mach 3 and slamming on the brakes right in front of me.” I thought you were some random person riding along who spotted a $100 bill on the boardwalk or something.

Someday soon we will have to have a real meet up for drinks or a craps session. As others have said you are the unofficial godfather of Atlantic City, and as so you tend to shy away from the limelight.

Next time I’m heading to town on a weekend I’ll shoot you a PM first.
