@Wallew as long as you have a car, Gilchrist at Gardners Basin has fabulous breakfasts and dining outside - I've eaten there more than a few times and never sat inside - the outside seating is right next to the water and really nice. I thin its only a breakfast and lunch place 7-2... and a 5 minute drive from the boardwalk

Gilchrist is a great breakfast spot. We go there almost every time we stay in AC as the breakfast choices in the casinos are either 1) poor food or 2) outrageously over priced. Gilchrist is everything I enjoy in a breakfast joint (and their pancakes are amazing).
I just read that the Yelp winner for best fried chicken in New Jersey went to Kelsey and Kim's Southern Cafe at 201 Melrose Avenue (about 2 blocks from Gilchrist). Planning on trying it out for lunch on my next trip to AC.

Tried the new 'Blueberry Cobbler' coffee at Wawa (currently $1). HORRIBLE. Even worse than blueberry bagels. What were they thinking?

I will post a full wrap up later but I decided to make my recon stop in AC on my way home from Cape May today.

Hard Rock wins hands down on cleanliness and preparedness with the covid issue compared to CET.

Just to enter the building Hard Rock makes you walk by an infrared scanner( I watched them pull a lady out of line because she came up as 101F). At Caesars and Bally’s there is no temperature check to get in. They just ask are you sick or been around anyone sick. As long as you say no anyone can enter.

Everyone is required to wear a mask before they enter any of the casinos. Hard Rock is giving masks out to those without or those asking for a mask. CET is just refusing everyone without a mask.

Will not be going to Oceans as I have never tier matched or played there except a quick stop in when they first reopened. I’m keeping that tier match in my back pocket for now.

No drinks are being served on the gaming floor and the bars are closed. At least this is my observation today at Trop, Bally’s and Caesar’s.

It seemed as if Tropicana had many dining options available compared to the others. What kind of crowds did you observe?

So if they are not serving booze on the floor, can you bring your own flask on the DL

Trop does have numerous dining options. Inside the casinos were in my opinion below average crowds for this time of year. The boardwalk was crowded with lengthy lines at most dining places (at the Trop, Bally’s & Caesar’s) Really, there is limited seating at the restaurants.

@smerrian I'm looking forward to your overall review. Especially the beach part. I'm waiting to make a decision until the last minute for the end of July.

I think I'll definitely head to AC at some point this summer. If my August trip to Vegas is moved to later, I may spend a solid week in AC, leading into and through the Labor Day weekend.

Regulators in NJ mandate the removal of deed restrictions on Showboat, Claridge, and Atlantic Club and want Eldorado to commit to capital improvements. https://pressofatlanticcity.com/news/casinos_tourism/nj-gaming-regulators-mandate-atlantic-city-investment-lifting-of-deed-restrictions-for-caesars-eldorado-merger/article_75a98afb-be79-506c-a1ab-553d1e51ee97.html

Tom Reeg has committed to creating a $400 million capital expenditures account to pay for improvements at Caesars, Harrah's and Tropicana.

EDIT: I wanted to add that regulators backed off the requirement to remove the deed restrictions on Showboat, Claridge, and Atlantic Club. For what it’s worth, the deed restriction on Showboat will expire in 2024 and the owner could conceivably apply for a casino license.

Since I'm not comfortable yet with gambling in person in AC -- especially since there are no restaurants open and I can't drink at the machines -- I decided to gamble online instead at Unibet NJ. *cha-ching!* Very quickly won my second ever handpay $1300 on El Dorado Infinity Reels. Hit a fantastic bonus. Cashed it out and now it's added to my bankroll for when AC truly opens up again. Playing online is nowhere near as good as gambling in person, but at least I could scratch the itch.

Honestly, it doesn't look any safer elsewhere in the country right now. Particularly in the South and West. I guess I'll just have to wait this thing out.

I had my host make a reservation for next Thursday for 3 nights at Caesars AC, I'm going solo because my friend backed out. He doesn't usually gamble as much as I do and he's my 7* companion and he likes to go the 7* lounge sometimes while I'm playing VP, but it's closed. I'm still unsure if I'm going but.at least that part of my trip is set. I looked at some of the places that have take-out it works for me, just concerned there will be long lines. If I find one of the guys that's down there maybe we can get a table at one of the restaurants. I'm not going to take up a table solo. I'm just concerned about wait times for elevators. No drinks while playing - no fun. Also breathing with the masks on all the time while playing. If it gets bad I may just leave early. I think I'ms starting to talk myself out of going. I'll stop here.

BTW, I think it was a bad idea to make two different posts about AC. I didn't know where it would be better to post. Should have just let this one run its course.

Lol, don't worry - what you just wrote - that's what everybody's doing like 10 times a day.
