VMBers -- myself included -- cringe at the thought of paying for a hotel room in Vegas if we have comps at hotels, even decent ones, in Vegas. But, for special experiences and/or circumstances, sometimes we/I make exceptions to that. I love Wynncore so I believe paying to stay there, if a good rate can be had, is worth it, depending on what one is looking for in a hotel resort experience in Vegas, even if comps can be had elsewhere. That by any objective measure Wynncore has excelled (and it looks like V/P has as well) relative to their casino peers in the crafting of health and safety protocols and in the implementation and execution of those protocols is yet another reason to stay there.

One VMB poster noted in a different thread how quiet or dead Wynn looked. That same photo brought me joy because it wasn't crazy packed with people.

Ok, I'm not someone who would ever get comps, but if I did, I would totally agree with using my comps, instead of paying, for a stay.

Also, having lived in Vegas, the strip is rarely not "popping"... When I observed it on a live stream yesterday I was shocked at how slow it was. After I processed that I realized this might be an experience to explore Vegas without shoulder-to-shoulder people...for someone like me who can sometimes get overwhelmed by crowds, this is an intriguing opportunity for me.

I’m still going mid August. I don’t expect it to be busy and I’m fine with it. Also, I pay for my room too. I only get maybe one comped night but I do use that!

I tried explaining this to my wife, who keeps asking why I book something that may not happen and I think she finally realizes that having nothing to look forward to for a year, even if it doesn't happen (which isn't relevant), isn't good for my mental health lol.

This is perfect! A lot of people don’t get this method of sanity.

And yes, I was right there with cringing at paying for rooms. But honestly, I’m testing out the “comp yourself” method because how I see it I’ve paid WAY more than the room rates in losses. Way different player these days than in the past. So I’ll pay up front, play how I play, and have a great time doing it. And if <insert random hotel here> wants to throw me a bone I will surely take it!

And here’s to all of our August trips becoming a profitable reality!

Thanks, @Jer. I think outside this forum that people don't get the Vegas thing, but I've explained to numerous people that the analogy stands to reason with respect to whatever their hobby is, and how they need to be able to look forward to doing that hobby at some point (irrespective if it happens next month or next year).

I truly believe if people have nothing to look forward to, that we'll see a neurological decline (worse than what's already happening).

We are still planning on going August 3-7..have 2 nights comped at Vdara Panoramic Suite and 2 nights comped at Cosmo Terrace Suite. If it gets any worse we might not go..have 6 nights at Mandelay Bay at the end of Sept. So hoping and praying at last one trip works.

Moved mine from mid-August to mid-October due to Nevada being a quarantined state. Hoping the #’s get under control by then, and fully expecting most restrictions and safety measures still in place.

Our original trip in May for my niece's 21st Bday got cancelled so my wife and I rebooked for June by ourselves. June flight to vegas got cancelled so we rebooked for July and guess what?? Yep that flight was cancelled. We are now booked for Aug 22-29 and we plan on going unless something catastrophic happens.

Technically in August, but flowing into September...still have everything booked, but I'm not sure if I'll be keeping this trip yet.

It's tough... my oldest son turned 21 in May. For YEARS we talked about celebrating his milestone birthday in Las Vegas. Didn't happen. Set up another trip for opening NFL weekend (Sept 11-14) and trying really hard to convince myself to go even if I have to wear a mask. It's just not the same...
