It would be interesting if they could correlate any casino-proximity contagion to touching rather than airborne transmission. It seems logical that the former would constitute a higher percentage of infection than in other hot-spot settings.

Masks are being worn. I agree with your assessment on the perception changing.

In the upper midwest face masks are generally not required or worn outside of metro areas, I just returned from deadwood and almost no one in the casinos had one on, even the workers, In WI the northern casinos dont require them(maybe 1/3d of patrons wear them), others down south do require them, the ones in MN do require them but I've read the ones way up north do not. Where i live in western WI masks are hardly worn at all, maybe 20% at most.

There was nothing in today's order about pools. I did see something about them looking at pools and water parks, but nothing is decided yet.

Follow up question: Are Face shields allowed in place of a mask? I’ve tried googling and could not find an answer.

I inquired about that for Caesars hotels and they informed me that shields were not acceptable.

Governor Sisolak’s Emergency Directive 024, Section 7, Bullet 3 makes an accommodation for “Individuals who cannot wear a face covering due to a medical condition or disability”. It states: “Persons exempted under this provision should wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield. Persons exempted under this provision shall not be required to produce documentation verifying the condition.”

I know for certain that Allegiant Airlines has adopted the same policy, as per their FAQ: “Yes, you may wear a face shield. We do not require the use of a mask if a face shield is worn.” But as TiffyChick noted, not everyone will play ball. I suspect any reasonable business wouldn’t put up a fuss if you said you were complying with the Governor’s Directive 024 disability accommodation, but your mileage may vary. If you try, please let us know how it goes.

I won’t be trying. I don’t meet the eligibility requirements to wear a face shield. Although I would prefer to wear one while playing in the casino, I’ll stick with the governors directive.
