It sounds like a good idea and running it to Wynn and even Resorts World would not be a great distance, but to stretch it to the airport or even Downtown is a lot of drilling and a lot of expensive. Somebody has got to pick up the bill for it.

Seems like it would be cheaper to run something at street level or elevated.
That's what I'd do down Las Vegas Blvd. Taxis, Uber, Lyft, etc would have a fit and I'm not sure anyone would support something that cuts jobs at this point even if more efficient or environmentaly friendly.
If Wynn and/or Resorts World funded it might happen, but again doubt it anytime soon.

I wonder where the tunnel stations will be located in relation to the Monorail stations at the Convention Center. If the stations are close then it will help tie the two systems together, making it easier for visitors on the North Strip to travel to the Sahara and The STRAT further north and the properties far to the south, like MGM Grand.

I read the cost of the tunnel 10 million per mile per tunnel with lights, ventilation and platforms. If that's the case that's cheap, dirt cheap for a city. A 10 mile elevated rail in an existing city would cost well over 100 mil and it's an eyesore, surface light rail is 40 to 100 million per mile.

In NYC the cost for the 2nd Avenue subway was 2.5 Billion per mile.

I just read resorts and Wynn applied to the city for permits.

Looks like from that diagram the Wynn connection ends right at the convention center monorail stop and and underground concourse connecting that to the convention center tunnel station2.

I was told, some time ago, that there would be a waiting room and "subway" station just to the north and east of the Convention Center Monorail station, underground, of course.

Hope they run it down the middle of the strip or at least closer than the monorail.

With no CES in 2021, guess there is no hurry.
