And on the way home we preempted our pending shipment from Klinker Brick and brought a case of Zin home with us ...

Ken, what beautiful pictures of your adventure. I long to take a trip like this - one of these days I want to pack up my car and just drive.

    Thank you for posting this.

Beautiful photos; I could sure use a getaway like this! I love how in the photo of the two glasses of beer, it appears the umbrella is over the beer (to keep the bugs out) lol. Beautiful location and looks like a sooth the soul getaway!!

Thanks, Bre. It has me jonesing even more to get up to Bend and the Cascades in September. I'm thinking maybe we need a return to Mammoth in the interim, it's been quite a few years.

If you have the time, do so. There are just SO many options with such diversity under our noses out here. There is still no way I'd go to a casino or a theme park right now, as we have walked out of a few establishments that obviously -- or its patrons -- weren't taking this stuff seriously. But if you're in CA and you want a coastal getaway ... short drive away. Eager to take advantage of spectacular rates in the desert ... right out many of our back doors. If you want an alpine escape ... a do-able drive away. If you want to go hide in the redwoods ... a drive away even if not short. And look at all of our national parks. Sure, Yosemite is limiting access and places of public accommodation are shuttered most elsewhere, but they're still open for a separated getaway.

Next time we'll check out that new path along your end of the lake. It's not long but is there anything wrong with going back/forth many times in such a lovely setting?!?

I'm jealous! Looks like a wonderful time and place to be. Agreed that ski resorts can be great in the summer, particularly if they've adapted to multi-season activities. Whistler is a great example. I've skied there many times. But I think it's more fun and offers more activity options in the summer - hiking, golfing, fishing, rafting, biking, outdoor concerts, among other things. Problem is, we Americans can't get there now. We were supposed to be leaving today for a week there, but no go.

Yep... only about 3 miles now I think, but it’s a nice addition.

    Ken,
Good article about the Whistler summer/shoulder scene! Funny thing about Hy's. We have a timeshare unit across the street at the Cascade Lodge. Two bedroom unit on the top floor, center, with a balcony that overlooks the village and the two mountains. We can also see Hy's. During our pre- or post-dinner happy hours on the balcony we like to watch people do what we call the "Hy's Pause." They walk up, often with family in tow, pause to inspect the menu, and generally turn around. Fine but spendy place. Our visits have been confined to their happy hour.

I'm jealous. We inherited a timeshare with the home port in BFE Arizona. I'd love to trade with you!!
