I was able to book 5 comped nights at Caesars Palace through the app. What minimum level of play is required in order to "pay them back" for their generosity and to maintain such offers?

This a great question which I need to ask my host so I know the dealio. I've never had issues getting comps downtown but I hit pretty hard in June and got 6 nights at El Co for my August trip and only asked for 4 and said I'd use my last 2 of my stay at 4Qs but I think he wants revenge from my last trip lol. And i'm sure he'll get it.

Based on experience, if you're a slot player, I would say between 1000 and 1500TC per day for 5 days.

Those values are based on Augustus Tower Strip view. Others may be less, suites would be more.

Others, like @Chuck2009x , would have a more precise number based on theo and ADT, but those are my "gut" numbers based on 2 years experience (12 trips) with comps at CP LV.

Except for teasers, offers are really more of a reward based on past play. The penalty for underplaying while you're on an offer is that your future offers will probably go down, not that you'll get billed for the current one. So you're really playing to maintain your offers, not to pay for the current one (even though we all refer to it as "playing off the comp" anyway).

If you're a slots player and you want to ballpark it:

Take the total retail value of the room for the nights you're staying.
Multiply that by 0.67 (casino rate)
That's how much the casino is paying for your room

    Multiply that result by 3
This represents the amount of theo the casino wants you to generate

    Multiply that result by 10
This represents the amount of coin-in you'd have to do to hit that theo number if the slot hold was 10%

    Example:
    5 nights in a $200 retail room

    Total retail value = $1,000
Casino is paying $ 670 for the room
Casino wants you to generate $2,010 in theo
It would take $20,100 total coin in to generate that theo

FWIW, that's about what I play over the course of 5 nights, and I can always get about a $200 (sometimes more) retail room comped at CET any time.

If you are playing penny machines, the hold is probably closer to 15% and so the coin in required would be less, closer to $13,500.

Tables I can't say, I don't play enough tables at CET. You need a table player to come in and say "I can get 5 nights at Caesars any time and I play XXX."

Video Poker really should be about 5x the coin-in of slots because I figure they probably calc VP theo at 2%. But in reality it's probably much less than 5x. I don't know why.

Or, just play somewhere around what you normally play. You got that offer based on past averages.

As said, you can play less. Depending on how much less will be reflected in future offers.

At CET and with respect to tables, @wagon b0y is about correct with respect to the basic CP room comp. My play can be anywhere between 400 TCs to 800 per day playing BJ (anywhere between 4-7 hours at generally around $60 per hand or so I'm rated at), so there's a band there. Now, the Covid situation may have changed things because prior, I would have all properties except for CP and Cromwell 7 days a week (I would get Cromwell and CP weekdays only) whereas now I have CP 7 days a week into the rest of the year effectively. I would say that the number I've come to find that's most accurate is around 600 TCs per day, which is now triggering CP comps any day.

I wouldn't play for comps as has been stated prior, you'll never come out on the right end. I can attest to that lol.

For the lowest end room. OP didn't specify in what tower he was staying.

I think that you're asking two separate questions here.

It seems that your primary consideration is to meet your gaming obligation. That is, they comped you five nights... how much play do you owe them in return? Arguably, it could be as little as nothing. Of course, if you no-play them you could run into trouble where they might try to charge you, and if you low-play them you'd be unlikely to see good offers in the future. We'll get back to this in a second.

Your secondary consideration appears to be to keep on getting these offers. As others have stated, specifically playing for comps is generally a bad idea. If you're playing more than you are comfortable playing or more than you enjoy playing, you'll wind up "paying" far more for that comped room compared to simply paying for it. Chuck gave an excellent answer to give you an idea of what would sustain these types of offers (which, as DaiLun stated, depends on which tower you are staying in or want to stay in). So if that's in line with your typical gaming habits, you're good. If it isn't, you should not feel pressured to play at that level.

So if your gameplan is "Satisfy the offer but with no intention of sustaining them", I think there's a case to be made for playing 50% of the levels that Chuck described... or even perhaps less if you don't especially care about future offers. If your gameplan is to "satisfy the offer and keep them coming", I'd say Chuck's description is spot-on.

@Soft17 my confusion comes into the mention of booking through the app, I assume you mean the caesars rewards app, which doesn't mean anything in terms of the comp. The 5 nights is what you qualified for from historical play with them. They are thanking you for your historical generosity with rooms in the hopes you will do it again. Depending on your history with them you should play the same way you played the last time you stayed there and they will be happy with you. If you have never stayed and this is a teaser offer from a quick drop in a day as a new player, the 1,000 tc per day number feels right. (5k in slots, 10k in VP, or a lot of table play.)

Yeah if you just wanted to get the casino to breakeven and they paid $670 for your room for 5 nights, then $6,700 coin-in over the course of the trip would cover that. That's 1/3rd of the amount they'd WANT you to play, and you could expect your comp availability to go down.

Part of the equation as pointed out, retail value. Sunday-Thursday is generally the cheapest while Wednesday-Sunday is generally the most expensive.
