Yea, you may want to read what Sonya posted from the Nevada governor today.

You should probably cancel and the casinos should probably be closed.

Alas.. if you go, please wear a mask.

I am scheduled to go in 22 days. I need to get the hell out of my apartment. I almost wish they would close Vegas again so the decision is made for me.

Canceled July trip and moved it to first week in August. Hoping the face mask protocol will get the numbers down. Crossing fingers and toes.

A lot of additional great thoughts/observations today. In 2 days (assuming on-time flight) I'll be an hour out from Vegas. I have about 24 hours to make a decision. Still leaning toward going. Taking Sonya's excellent advice above, thinking about what I enjoy about Vegas, I: (1) Drink heavily; (2) Gamble aggressively; (3) Begin a TR that fizzles after 36 - 48 hours; (4) Eat cheap and quick. I can do all of the above next week. In fact my preferred craps table is one with 6-7 players, and I enjoy VP when I'm not being shouldered aside all the time. And ever since I've gone solo post-divorce, I don't do the shows or hang out at the pool or fancy dinners like my ex and I did. In fact thats what made me stop going to Palazzo. I found myself grabbing food court or white castle (ironic since I never eat White Castle in Ohio) as opposed to eating at one of V/Ps excellent restaurants or even Grand Lux.

So maybe current Vegas will be to my liking s well. And since the next several months are unknowns, if I don't go now I may not get another opportunity in 2020.

Decision is still not "final" but as of now I think it looks likely.

    Happy 4th everyone.

@FuzzyDiceCraps im with you.... btw we are neighbors Detroit Mi here...I also have vacation coming up next week and we were (wife and I) talking about going to Vegas
for few days...but ultimately we decide not to go... we were there back in march during its shut down stage even tho we had good time.. there was lingering feeling of "unease" while gambling and constantly washing hands etc all that just didn't add it up right. anyhow, so we are aiming for fall trip as well.

    This is accumulated comps

$1500 at CET (I used to take my 7* retreat to new Orleans, where they give 50,000 RCs instead of a $500 folio credit)
$1500 in mLife gift cards from Playstudios when mLife chose not to participate in HGS, I cashed in a bunch of LPs
$1000 in misc. comps. $300 at QQQQ, $200 at the D, $500 total at a bunch of other casinos.

I never pay for rooms and rarely pay for meals.

P.S. Sorry to hijack the thread. I have my own TR going.

Only 3 nights this time. I am normally between 3 and 7, last few trips I've held steady at about 4 nights. When I was younger we'd come in for a week at a time, but anymore I go far too hard the first few days for this near-40's body to keep up anymore!

Well hey there neighbor. Are your locals open up yet? I haven't been to the Ohio ones since reopening (had considered doing a staycation at one instead of Vegas, but its just not the same "feel").

I'm hoping for a fall return, so lets hope it can happen

I'm not conerned one bit about my health and I am 62. Taking a vacation with a mask on isn't my idea of a good time. That's why I cancelled. Plus, the buffet shutdown also bummed me out.

I’m starting to feel this way too. I’m finding that people aren’t enjoying the vibe of Vegas right now. I’ll keep my July 24th reservation and flight, for now.

Made the decision last night to cancel my trip that was planned to start tomorrow evening. Luckily, Delta will give an e-credit for up to a year and the rooms were free anyway. I was looking forward to a "quieter" Vegas, but when it came down to it, my biggest fear was the possibility of places shutting down after this weekend. I guess I will wait until some time in the fall, and hopefully, things will be closer to being back to normal by then.

I hope it works out for us. We just have to play by ear and take it day by day. Like I said, we should make the decision last minute if possible. Just watch what is going on.

This thread sure touched a nerve. My planned departure is ln the 12th. I'm downtown so less concerned about distancing. Seems the young So cal kids are making weekends on the strip a challenge. There are some rumors some large strip resorts will close next week voluntarily. I'm vacillating between really wanting to go and feeling like a dope for even considering it. I'll play it by ear and decide last minute. The fact that so many people who really like this town feel this way should concern casino companies.

Please be aware that those "rumors" have been debunked by Venetian a couple times on social media. Please don't make decisions based on what Vital Vegas says.

The numbers are quite bad and not improving in Nevada, especially in Vegas. But the last thing the casinos want to do is close. Hopefully they can enforce mask use and turn those numbers around.

But at the rate they are rising right now, I'm not sure anyone should be going unless you are fully aware of how to avoid this virus and the things that can (and do) happen to people who get it. It's not you just get a little flu and get over it. This virus has long term, negative consequences, even in normally healthy, young bodies.

I'm not your mom, so do what you feel is best for you, but I think a real sober analysis of the numbers and the risks to you (and the people you come in contact with at home) are necessary before you make a decision to go to Vegas right now. At least have a plan for what you'll do if you come home feeling ANY kind of symptoms, so you don't spread any possible infection to others.

I have not cancelled my trip (yet?) but I did cancel my reservation at Cosmopolitan and added on two more nights to my Flamingo stay. I am just not comfortable with the way Cosmo is handling this. I was not booked at The D, but I have zero interest of going in there. Lots of photos all over of people at machines not wearing masks. I even saw a video of a bartender with his mask below his nose.
