24 hr cafes of old were great. Graveyard specials, dinner specials and just plain good food for the price. Once casino started bringing in chains, it seems even those that kept theirs changed. The exception would be downtown locations that remain. You mentioned the Gold Coast, they and the Orleans used to run a good steak special. One was a t-bone and the other a porterhouse, can't remember which. It was steal, baked beans, corn on the cob abd potato for $7.95. This was the 90s. Not the best, but for $7.95, I doubt they had many complaints. I know I ordered it a few times at both places and it was fine for that price.

Forgot about them. Had dinner there a few times. Very good value. Loved the larger portion option. A couple of us would pick an entree, choose a couple of apps, add salad and we had a good meal.

That's the truth. We get up early in Vegas and used to enjoy a full breakfast at almost any hotel at 5 AM. Now it seems we have to wait till 7 or 8 for someplace to open. Burning the shank of the morning on an empty stomach. The Barbary was great.

Is that the old Showboat? I think it was. Bowled there a few times, but haven't been there after the name change.

I forgot about Stefano's at the Golden Nugget. The singing waiters were a hoot.

Eat at many of those places mentioned by others as nobody mentioned Phillips supper house or the Venetian.
Or did I miss a post or two that said that

I miss Serendipity's. I loved the frozen hot chocolate and their breakfast was delicious.

That would predate my first trip in '92. I think whoever bout the Showboat did name it Castaways for it's short tenure.

Castaways was the original name of the casino that once stood where Mirage is.

When Mirage happened, the name was used briefly for a small joint on Decatur.

Then it was used for the former Showboat.
