Lockdown Independence 6/30 - 7/5

I was just in Vegas at the end of January. Why does that feel like 2 years ago? This trip was supposed to have been at the end of May but we all know how that worked out. To try to overcome the blah that has been the last 3 months it's Vegas time.

I was not furloughed, layed off or otherwise impacted on the job front by the pandemic. For some unknown reason the government feels that I'm essential. As if. In fact, I have been way busier than I wanted with no days off since my last trip. With all the shutdowns there has not been much relaxation time so this is a welcome break from work.

So the plan for this trip is pretty straight forward. Hours upon hours of VP play broken up by the occasional need for food and a little sleep. I intend to partake in as may adult beverages as I can get around my ever present mask. Should I cut a hole for a straw? Nah, that seems to defeat the purpose. I have a lot of food credits so it will be fancy dining downtown for me. Andiamo twice and Hugo's once. First time at Hugo's so looking forward to something new. I may make it to the pool but I say that every trip and the siren song of the machines keeps me playing. With the double FP from The D and Golden Gate for June and July I don't think I need to bring any of my own money. Wouldn't that be wonderful.

Accommodations will be The D for duration of the trip and I am double booked at Cosmo 7/3-7/5. My Cosmo host has reserved a fountain view room so hopefully I can enjoy the fireworks from the relative safety of my room. The recent reports of infections at Cosmo has me a little concerned so if the scene gets to crazy at night I may spend more time enjoying the balcony than playing.

Ok, I guess I should get some work done. Wheels up at 2:08pm from Manchester, NH on American Airlines. Next update will hopefully be a pretrip beer at the airport.

Now the important part. First beer.

 

Currently not winning. Flight delay because the plane hit a bird on the way in. A short connection in Chicago just got a lot shorter.

Finally boarded. We’ll see if i make the connection.

 

Made my Chicago connection, barely. Let’s hope my luggage is as lucky. 4 hours or so and i should be on the ground.

The vermin is my youngest son’s. The dog is my wife’s but i seem to take care of her more.

Luggage arrived. First win. Lyft was over 30 minutes so I’m taking a taxi for the first time in a long time. The D here i come.

 

I think the taxi long hauled me but it’s all good. I made it in one piece now sitting at Andiamo bar for dinner. Dropped off a gift bag for my host. Homemade jam. I hope she enjoys.
