Crazy... I haven’t read too much in it, but I’ve wondered why this didn’t happen sooner. If he’s truly healthy and can stay that way, this could be scary.

I’m thinking of Tom at the post game conference, supporting the corporate approach, team first mantra which lets the system be the front runner. “Do Your Job!!”
(Indeed, this WILL be interesting (but hopefully this was agreed upon by both sides as to expectations —- high maintenance is not the patriots strength)

Belichick raising the white flag. Doubt Newton plays more than 6 games before injured or replaced. Bills 11-5; Jets 9-7; Dolphins 8-8; Pats 5-11.

Seriously. Even with Stidham, Pats are at least 8 and 8. Their defense is still very good (though won't be as good as last season). Brady was not good last year and they were still in line for the number two seed in the conference going into week 17. Miami is still rated as one of the four worst teams in the league. And the Jets having a winning record seems like a stretch (although admittedly, a small stretch). Their first three games are almost certainly losses. Does that team have the roster and coaching to win 9 out of the remaining 13? 7 and 9 or 8 and 8 seems a lot more likely.

Oh, maybe not. I've probably been listening to too much Schein on Sports in the morning. He hates the Pats this year and is really talking up the Bills. I like the Jets because of Darnold (USC fan—why I still am is a mystery given the last 40 years of history with them: O.J., Carroll, Bush, etc). And think Ryan Fitzpatrick, or is it Patrick Fitzryan, will have some decent games, so there you are. My predictions are probably just following my heart. I hate the Pats, especially Mumbles and Massage Boy. I just wonder why Tom Terrific left if he thought they would be any good?

I think everyone overlooks how good the Pats defense has been the last 2 seasons. Nobody seems to remember they won their last SB with Defense (v LAC,KC,LAR) and last year they had the #1 DEF and a record setting first half of the season. Belichick probably doesn't expect much from his new starting QB (whoever that is) but even with a "game manager", the team might be good enough to make another SB run.

great move, low risk and high reward. Patriots finish with a better record than the Jets, likely 9-7.

I actually agree with you on the Bills. Even if the Pats end up with Cam Newton of two years ago (aka, pre-injuries), I think the Bills are a tad better and have the more favorable schedule. But ultimately, even if Stidham is the QB, I think the Pats likely worse case scenario is 7 wins (and maybe one or two more). With a healthy Cam Newton, they should be in the 10 or 11 win range and competing for a playoff spot

Pats gave the toughest schedule in the league. Even with Brady they would not win the division this yr.
